K. Rool's Kremling Kutthroats: PM BKupa666 for an Invite to the New K. Rool Thread

I never really though Dixie had too much of a chance. I love her as a character, and acknowledge that she is up there with the greats, but K. Rool is so different from both DK and Diddy in every way (except for Donkey and Rool's respective muscle and weight issues translating to heavyweight status.) If Sakurai could make hair-twirling an entire unique moveset, then I'd be down, but I don't think that's happening.

As for music, I've fallen in love with DK2's Credits Theme. To see that in Smash=bliss.

Hmm. Somebody observed on the Miiverse Pic of the Day Discussion Thread that Diddy Kong draws influence from older games, such as having the old design for his rocket barrel. Does anybody know if this game has clearly drawn anything from Tropical Freeze so far?

...the less it does, the better for K. Rool.

The 'Nintendo' design on Diddy's hat has changed to reflect newer games, but otherwise, his weapons are using their designs from DK64, not Retro's games.

I don't think Smash4 would exclude a super-heavyweight. At least one has been added in each new game.

I think K. Rool and Ridley are the only real contenders for new super-heavyweight. Unless there is a pokemon or something that could fill this role?

Unless the development team considers modifying Mewtwo's unusually bizarre and uncharacteristically light weight (which is a doubtful proposition to begin with), there aren't any other strong candidates hailing from the Pokemon universe for super-heavyweight classification.

EDIT: Technically speaking, I was referring to the Pokemon in-universe laws of physics. With Rosalina, however, I would suspect Mewtwo would be given the same attributes pertaining to his floatiness and weight, especially if (for whatever reason) he is updated to his Y form.

It isn't farfetched when you consider real world physics on how objects float.

...though what is strange is that real-world physics applied SPECIFICALLY in Mewtwo's case, when Pokémon tends to defy such physics in the first place.

Genesect is steel and it is claimed he weighs 181.9 lbs (very specific).

But his popularity must not be close to King K. Rool or Ridley. Plus Ridley and King K. Rool are villains in fairly big series that each only have two characters each in the roster.

E3 would be a better time.

Either April or E3 would be a great reveal for E3.

As I said before, my prediction for E3 was that we get a ton of veterans confirmed (assuming they are not already confirmed, this means all original 12 not already confirmed, Falco and/or Wolf, Sheik, Zero Suit Samus, G&W, the Ice Climbers, and especially Snake), Mewtwo is announced to be returning, and we would get 3 newcomers, 2 of them being Pac-Man and Miis.

I think we're inevitably going to get a April newcomer reveal (and if it's not that it's Mewtwo, and a tiny chance of it being Snake), and I think the 2 big front runners in that are K. Rool and Palutena (although don't count out Shulk or Cranky). I have similar feelings with which characters is the 3rd newcomer revealed at E3 (if I am right and that is the number), although I am more inclined to believe that E3 will have another random-esk (popular) character.\

So yeah, we literally got 2 realistically very likely shots at K. Rool (and additionally Palutena) being confirmed guys.

Donkey and Diddy would be staring befuddled at this giant Kong with a scaled snout. But being good apes, they offer their hands for a friendly shake.

K. Kong grabs DK's hand, flings him and then rips off his costume. King K. Rool Krashes in.

I'm surprised to see all the positivity, because I have basically given up on K. Rool.

I support both him and Dixie because I love the old DKC games on SNES, but I think it's pretty clear Nintendo favors Dixie and kinda wants to forget about K. Rool.

I dunno, I think Dixie's now the frontrunner.

I am not gonna lie, my faith has risen for the KING and Dixie..but something crossed my mind as I was thinking about all of this. What if we don't get King K. Rool at ALL...instead we get the new Viking Villain...now I am not saying we will, but don't underestimate what Masahiro Sakurai can and WOULD do to everyone's hopes. He knows everything that is being leaked, probably far more and well than any of us do. He wouldn't have to reveal the new villian anytime soon either, BUT everyone don't count that NEW VIKING boss out of the picture. He fits all the criteria of King K Rool in terms the following:

1. Both are villains
2. Both are heavyweights
3. Both are from a popular franchise.
4. Both could be easily put into Smash.
5. King K. Rool is ""possibly"" LESS likelier than the new DK villain.

Just remember that Sakurai will ALWAYS try and surprise the hell out of all of us. There is no telling what he has up his sleeves. (other than suffering from that disease)
This is just something to help everyone not get their hopes up. As much as I and many others want THE KING....he still has a LONG road in front of him. Sakurai is crafty and I've felt that AT LEAST 1 thing in every similar leak...saying that King K. Rool, Ridley, Paletuna, etc. will be in the game.....is a Kroc. "Pun Intended" All of these leaks list the same people as newcomers...and if not ALL then MOST of the leaks do...and 1 big thing is going to surprise us all. Whether it be the inclusion of some RANDOM-CHARACTER that no one thought of OR a character that has been leaked over...and over...and OVER...to not actually be included (playable anyway).


BE READY FOR ANYTHING!!!!! I HAVE FAITH IN THE KING!!!!!..but Sakurai will always try and shock us USUALLY...<is the moral.

This is just something to think about. Take it with a grain of salt, please...It COULD happen after all...and in Smash Bros. COULD is the biggest word of them all.

They're not going to include a one-off villain with hardly any support that already fills in the exact same niche as another insanely popular character. Just because Sakurai likes to surprise fans with characters nobody saw coming doesn't mean he deliberately tries to choose characters nobody cared about. Wii Fit Trainer represents a Wii best-seller, Rosalina is being pushed by Nintendo as the next big Mario character, Ice Climbers offered a unique gimmick and hailed from an at least somewhat notable NES game, Game & Watch is a massive part of Nintendo's history, etc. He doesn't choose them for the hell of it

Just speculation...the only thing that scares me about this game...has always been the director. He is hard to figure out, but he makes it that way on purpose...I wish we could just get a REAL leak that there was no denying and finally see who is in and who isn't. The suspense is too much. Maybe because I see it as if King K. got in...I would be in heaven. And good things like what I am imagining do not happen that often. So we'll see. I hope they don't put that knock-off villain in...SMH..if they do..

Not quite. There is no replacement in this DK scenario, because DK has not yet had a third character (whereas you're talking about replacing an existing two-game veteran with a one-off villain). Besides, Yuga is far more similar to Ghirahim in personality and design (barring the whole Ganon-fusion thing).

Whatever the case, it's clear that having Lord Fredrik the Walrus as the third DK Newcomer is a highly undesirable proposition.

Only thing I could think of that would be a scenario where we get Lord Fredrik over K. Rool is the hypothetical that there really is licensing problems between Nintendo and Rare for K. Rool, so Lord Fredrik was intentionally designed as an expy.

Not that that's the case; I heavily doubt that. But still, it seems odd to me that not a single Kremling appeared in a game since 2008, and then the DKC Trilogy was taken off of the Wii's Virtual Console in 2012...
And then there's the fact K. Rool and the Kremlings were originally designed for a project in development at the same time as DKC (which I just found out was a Battletoads game), and were thrown in DKC since they fit the artstyle.

...I'm really confused now. Thinking about this literally gave me a headache....

EDIT: Forgot about 2009's New Play Control release of Mario Power Tennis, but then again, it's not a new game.

Well, I'd still be ok with that design if they decided to use it for him in the game as a playable character(though obviously they'll come up with a better one), just as long as he's in it I'll be happy.

Sakurai's either going to choose no DK newcomer, or K. Rool at this point.

If Cranky had been a newcomer, why not show him with TF? Mac could've been a good E3 reveal.

I'm also just not convinced Dixie would be made interesting enough to hype people up in her intro trailer. It's all about showing unique mechanics and if semi-clone is the best they got, I really don't see Sakurai going for it this time.

I think you can put those fears to rest. The way I understand it, in the Nintendo/Rare splitup Nintendo got all Donkey Kong related characters which includes Kremlings. If there were any legal issues with them, I can almost guarantee you they wouldn't have been in a little sports game like Mario Baseball that is not worth the trouble. Not sure why Retro didn't put them in Returns/Tropical Freeze but if I had to guess I think Retro simply wanted to create their own thing.

Knowing that Nintendo at least still owns the rights to the kremlings makes me happy and still gives me hope for k. rool making it in ssb4. not only that but possibly returning in a future dkc game at some point. I wish they would use him in more mario sports games though, I mean if they can use Diddy and the kremlings in them, why not K. Rool?

I'm pretty sure taking the DKC trilogy off the VC has more to do with the Rare logo and other elements than characters Nintendo legally owns.

And I'm pretty sure the Kremlings haven't been in the new trilogy yet (mark my words its a trilogy), because Retro wanted to make its own footprint.

They did the same thing with Metroid, but I expect the Kremlings to return in the third game.

PS: I like the Paon design, .. and, I'm not really seeing he getting in Smash in another design than that; ... seems that modern designs are a problem with every fanbase, huh? Paon's K. Rool, Ghostly Adventues' Pac-Man, Other M's Ridley, etc. XD
