I still get my Sub. Then I BP to Bronzong safely behind a Sub. So no matter what I get my Trick room in, which, once again, makes the speed boosts worthless.

Same result but it will take an extra turn to take down my opponent's Sub. No biggie.

EDIT: Once again Jolteon gives me the early momentum needed for an easy win. I got lucky since my opponent was dumb enough to use Roost while I'm firing Dynamic Punchs at it, but meh.

People still use lead Ninjask? Or Ninjask at all for that matter?
It's as if people haven't heard of this great move that causes them to take 1/2 of their HP away when they switch in and this other great move that causes all stat ups to go away and force them out, causing the other move to take effect if they want back in. What were there names again...ah yes, STEALTH ROCK AND ROAR!

Unfortunately... Yes. It actually gave my old teams problems before I started using TRZ (Trick Room Zong) since I don't believe in phazors.

So I recently gave my Jolteon Life Orb instead of Leftovers and this is the reason... I <3 my lead.

As much as that is a nice touch, Jolteon is in for a smorgasport of recoil damage with LO + Sub (and possibly sandstorm). Particularly since this isn't a suicide lead and will likely be coming back mid game, make sure you can handle the amount of recoil you add for what is probably a very modest and almost petty return.

HP Grass is the only grass move on my entire team, and the only viable option I have to OHKO Swampert, so LO is pretty much a necessity.

All I need Jolteon to do is pass Subs, OHKO Swamperts, and OHKO Starmies. Everything else it could be killing is already covered by my Starmie.

...true. If the pert plays smart and decides to earthquake from the first turn, Jolteon is dead. If it sets up SR the first turn, you get into a sub, and HP grass over two turns to victory. A huge prediction like that early on can be fatal.

That said, LO can be risky for the subpass simpily because you are taking a lot of recoil each time you switch in. LO may be beneficial if you can take down pert, but if you constantly switch him into SR (and possibly sandstorm) and attack, you are gonna loose your potential substitutes to pass without wish support. Not only that, but pert can run roar (though not very common as a lead) and thwart a succesfull subpass and sink your HP totals. If you rely of the sub passing a ton and Swampert doesn't hold up your team much, then Leftovers are probably better. But if the only time you subpass is that first turn and your team has a huge pert weakness, then LO will work better.

No I don't rely on the Sub-passing nearly as much as you might think. I mostly use it for either early momentum or forcing switches to get the Sub (i.e. sending it in on Gyra or Pert).

A lot of times the early momentum is all I need from it. But then again, it is partly an anti-lead (works great against Azelfs), so sometimes I don't get to do some late-game Sub-passing.

Yes sir. Will do.

And I'm greatly appreciative of the amount of feedback I got from this thread. I know some of you are still doubtful, but this Jolteon really does work, and I think the logs I've posted show that.

I would encourage anyone to at least try it, especially since it's a very unique lead (I've never seen Jolteon in a lead position). And it's SO satisfying when your opponent starts w/ SR and you are able to get a free Sub, proceeded by passing it to the right Pokemon for the situation and maintaining your Sub.

Yummy can you please stop with the irrelevant posts? I've seen at least 3 from you in the past few hours.

And it would be nice if you at least posted your lead's moveset/EV spread.

I really loved the Jolteon start back in RSE, but in DPPt, I just feel like starting with a bulkier Pokemon seems safer. Then again, I guess the risk factor can work in your favor if your opponent predicts incorrectly like with your Swampert start example. Then Jolteon is basically able to run town on the remainder of the opponent's team >=D

Reading Pokemon stuff makes me want to play on Shoddy again...what does it take to get the Pokemon Master color/title =P?

Just post around here for a while, and you'll eventually get it.

You apply to join the group in your User CP->Group Memberships, but you should wait to do that until you post a bit more around here so Spire knows who you are. :)

Also, we're still talking about this Jolteon lead? I thought we all agreed that subpass was the best thing since sliced bread =P
