Good thing I came across this page. I've been living here in Japan 2 years now and couldn't find much on smash events, tourneys, etc.

Now I can finally attend these things and meet with the players.

edit: I do speak a good chunk of 日本語, so perhaps I can be of assistance at some point in time.

www.smashbrothers.info for Kansai region tournaments

piosuma.blog.jp for Kanto tournaments

I can read some Japanese as well but having another translator won't hurt. Thanks in advance

Edit: also if you have a twitter account I recommend that you follow SHIG | 9B and @UMBRHP. They are the main TOs for Japanese tournaments and will answer any questions you may have directly.

Awesome! Thank you very much Xiao! I've been looking for a Kanto area smash page, and everybody kept leading me towards smash.info. I don't live in Kansai so it seemed meaningless.

The next sub tourney is coming up it seems (8/10).

@ NualphaJPN NualphaJPN Yeah I'm normally on nicovideo watching casual livestreams or playing with other Japanese via Wi-Fi. Never thought to share those with this thread though lol

edit: I also refrained from posting those videos on SHI-Gaming's youtube because this thread is for Brawl only. You guys should definitely subscribe to their channel though. I'm sure that this past Umebura will be uploaded there in due time.

The next tournies will be 8/10 and 8/16. Actually, my friend from my region is going to Japan for vacation is will be attending a tournament there on 8/16. He speaks japanese/english so when he returns I'll get alot of feedback and stuff from him.

Hahaha, I will refrain from posting the Project virus in here. I just wanted to post the immense skill and destruction that Amsa's lucario possesses.

The stream last night had been playing 大乱調スマブラX (Brawl).

One result really doesn't give any credit to be honest. There are so many conditions that need to be placed as to WHY he performed the way he did.

Amsa in general is just a monster who capitalizes so much and makes amazing reads.

A little more info regarding the upcoming tournaments. Umebura 6 (this weekend on August 10th) has doubles as the main event. So far all the usual team specialists are in attendence (kairo/mikeneko, kamemushi/daiki, taiheita/gomamugicha, etc.) The sub event is undecided for now. The next tournament on the 16th will be a 3on3 main event, with doubles as a side event. Not much to go off of for that tournament regarding entrants. I'll update when that information is readily available.

Finally rounding off the brawl tournaments for August is Sumabato X Final which will be on August 23-24. This tournament is the largest in Japan for brawl so far, having a record 216 entrants currently. From what I can understand teams and singles will be on separate days.

As for next month, the release of Smash for the 3ds in Japan is on the 13th, and there are already plans to host tournaments for it that same month of release, so you can look forward to that as well.

Yeah, me too. I think the top Japanese teams (especially Taiheita+Gomamugitya and Kie+Choco) are easily on par with America's best. But I don't think anyone is going to play Brawl after Smash 4 drops. I'd be shocked if Apex 2015 even gets 50 entrants for Brawl singles. :scared:

Could somebody translate the Umebura 5 bracket for me? I want to figure out who Choco beat there. Just from knowing the previous partial results that were posted earlier, it looks to me like Choco beat Brood, RAIN and Edge on his way to GFs, which Edge then won in 2 sets. Is that correct? If it is, then who else did he beat?

J! is a decent player who typically finishes around 9th. He's played Olimar, ICs, and Falco in the past; I have no idea who he used here. I don't know who the first person is, but (s)he finished 13th, so I'm assuming (s)he's decent as well.

I hadn't realized Edge beat Otori *and* Kakera, as well as finishing off Rain. I guess there's really no disputing that he's easily the best Japanese MK right now. Too bad we'll likely never see him against Nairo.

Choco played Jihanki round 1. He's one of the better olimar mains. From what I saw J used Falco this tournament. If I could use tio on my phone I would translate the whole thing lol
