Deakin is probably the easiest Uni to book rooms through, as far as time and freedom go as I understand. You'd still have to book through a Uni club though.Hey this location was great, would Deakin allow this place to be used during uni semesters?
The venue was a lot of fun and there is something to be said about smaller more relaxed events. That said, on the non smash side of things, there was a lot of equipment that went unused, and we feel like for a little more effort than monthlies, we can do a lot more.
I hate to add a sour note, but it was the biggest downer of the day... getting you guys to pay the $5 group collection was like pulling teeth. When calling out to collect money on two occasions I had a total of 6 people approach me, and most of you I had to chase down for it. I'm fine with people genuinely being forgetful but there are a few of you who I have to approach every single time. I really don't want to spend a large part of my day tapping people on the shoulder and saying 'excuse me.'
Cheers to the two guys who stuck their hands up when the food arrived out of honesty, but anyone else who hadn't paid at that point and did eat... you guys aren't my favourite people right now.
I'm not going to point fingers though, and I'm happy to leave it there. To change the topic, it looks like we may be able to get the Curtin either the 8th or 15th of Feb, with what is probably just a relaxed event (may not be part of ranbat season).
Also, CW Annual General Meeting is coming up this Saturday, where we'll be voting in the important positions for the year and deciding what direction we should be heading. You guys make up about half of the people coming to the events, but there is a serious lack of representation from here. Please come, even if you aren't willing to volunteer your time to organising, your feedback is still valuable and having all groups sharing discussion is much better than the odd remark on forums.
