WoW players:...takes a milliong years for the patches to download in dial up...I think there is a new patch...whihc makes it lame...long patches = turn off instant turn off...only good thing about WoW....a lot of people play it and it has good graphics...there are other games justl ike WoW...games like Everquest, yes no good graphics but its cheaper and it has almost the same exact feautures, you can play it on the playstation along with Final Fantasy 11 which is practically awesome as well, good graphics and cheaper than WoW

WoW is not only good graphics but at the same time it's extremely fun...watching yourself charge a pyroblast makes me think "FINAL...FLASH!!!" I'm almost certain that WoW is more challenging to play as well...And due to the extremely high population of WoW, there's an economy which blows most of the other games out of the water...I'm sure economics majors are the richest people in Azeroth.

WoW was specifically designed to take the best elements of every MMO to date, and eliminate what people disliked about them. How could that not be a good concept for a game? There's so much content that it'd take you a few runs to 70 to see it all. It's constantly being updated for content and bug fixes.
Maple is free. They have no money to do any of this stuff.

WoW is dumb. Just waisting your ****ing lives for no reason whatsoever. The game isn't fulfilling whatsoever. You run around leveling up and then what? Nothing. You do it all over again. It's ****ing pointless. Go****it.

Seriously, who pays 20 bucks, THEN another 50 bucks for the expansion, THEN another 15/month.... jsut to play a game..... and you get no special features?
Pwning snails are awesome. And, after a day of losing in Smash, goin back home to MS relieves all sorrow and disappointment. ^^
Plus lvl 71 is nothing. Myko's lvl 88. But then again, he's lost his soul.

WoW has it's upside. It is, in fact, the worlds most potent sleep-inducer. Play games that are actually fun like Gears of War, Perfect Dark and Metal Gear. Oh, and DDR too.

GTA MMORPG for the win. Those games are hella fun but they get boring after a while. Can you imagine constant PvP games though? You're driving a Bullet down the freeway (the wrong way if you're me) with NOS and you're at full speed. Suddenly you see a heat seeking rocket coming up in the rearview. WTF DO YOU DO? That **** would be so fun. OMG ****ing dogfights would be incredible. Crew battles would be insane....Holy **** there's so much you could do.
Anyways I can safely say that Job+Smash = No Maple, No WoW. I'm sure NK/Tyde will agree that MMORPGs had better be pretty ****ing great in order to use up the amount of time that they do. Don't know about NK, but I work 30-35 hours a week, and the rest of my time is spent on the Community or Smashing. Plus Tyde has school. No time for WoW and I think it isn't worth the time.

Methinks the people bashing WoW are precisely the ones who have never experienced the endgame dungeons or the high level PvP, and think the game is just about going out and collecting 8 wolf pelts or magic orbs or bear as
ses. And the expansion is $40, not 50, PK.
Endgame raiding is all about working together with a bunch of people in coordination to accomplish a goal, it's about being part of a team. And most of the boss encounters are unique and require different strategies. Indeed, there can even be multiple strats for the same encounter depending on your class balance/gear/skill. It's a lot like working with a team to solve a puzzle that requires practice.
There is actually a Chess event in the first endgame raid instance in the expansion, and also and Opera event. I haven't done them yet but I hear the Chess event is really fun.
Now, the PvP is the good stuff. All the same team skills principles apply here, but in PvP there is bigger element of unpredictability, so you're tested on your ability to react to unexpected changing conditions. And just as in Smash, there are mindgames involved in WoW PvP. For example, if I think a mage is going to counterspell my next heal, I might begin casting, but cancel the cast a split second later in order to bait the CS and make it ineffective. And the depth of the combat is great as well; each class has like 2 dozen or more unique abilities. There are even many different modes of PvP (Duels, Team Arena, CTF, Resource nodes, 40 on 40 assault), each which require different strats and balance.
Not to mention the great degree of customizability you have over you characters with the talent system. And yes, King, Boback, and I all have 70's on one server. We rock.
So if that doesn't sound fun to you, I dunno what to tell you. I can see how people don't think it's worth the time invested, but it's no different than any other hobby. You get the opportunity to meet a lot of new people and make friends, to get a sense of accomplishment, and to work as a team against a fixed challenge or against other opposing teams, much the same as in the Smash community.
Like I've said in the past about MS, it's free, yes, but free garbage is still garbage. People pay a fixed amount at the beginning to get the and then pay a certain amount every month to keep themselves in the community. Hmm, that kind of sounds like BUYING SMASH AND PAYING FOR TOURNEY ENTRY. Blizzard has really great support for its games, as anyone who has played any of their games over a long period of time knows. Not to mention there is a lot of humor in the game itself, there is an insane amount of exploration possible in the game (watch Nogg-aholic), and there is enough freedom in the game itself to go and do fun things that aren't really part of "the game."

WoW might be fun and all but the game is designed to keep people addicted because once you spend hours and hours trying to get that rare equip.. an update comes out with even better armor and what you spend hours to obtain is now obsolete.
Unlike SSBM where you spend hours trying to master a new move and the game stays the same meaning all those hours weren't wasted and you can go melt faces in tourneys!

Enoc, I think you mean 64 Shammy, as 74 isn't possible...But Hyuga, you know whats fun? Dueling a mage with a pally or druid, and using hearthstone...then they're like "lol n00b counterspell" then you heal yourself right in front of their face. Lay on hands is funny against a rogue.

Pretty much everything sheridan said was spot on. The community is in general much worse then the Smash community (or at least, the NorCal smash community) in terms of obnoxious idiots, but that comes with the anonymity of the internet. However, it's easy to avoid ***** and generally if you are a good, smart player you can find other like players to roll wit'. It's also easy to find stuff to do where you don't have to deal with other people or people outside of your friends.
Not to mention that a lot of the content isn't easy at all, and you need 4 to 39 other smart, focused players to get through instances or do pvp with if you want to be successful.
A lot of the people I know that tried it and didn't like it are people who didn't play for long enough to really get to where it gets fun.
[I would say that Blizzard has good support for WoW, but they have made questionable choices when it comes to class adjustments (Priest Nerf, Over Nerfing Bear Tanks, Frost Nova Nerf and that's all just this patch).]
I haven't played MS, but it doesn't sound that appealing. It seems to me that it doesn't have an endgame like WoW does, so it's just grinding. Not to mention I got the cash to pay for WoW, and it's **** worth it.

I play a Holy Priest, I've not once put a single talent point into the Shadow tree (I've been really tempted to just put in 21 for Silence though...). I've played as Holy DPS (which is ****), Discipline (PS), and Raid/PvP healing. I've been 70 for a while and I'm ready for Karazhan but not been yet. I have kind of crappy gear at the moment though (like +860 heals...). I very much like healing, as I have gotten a good understanding of what my teammates are capable of given my assistance, which is really what I enjoy most about anything team-related. Not only that, but opponents generally go after the heals first, so you in turn learn how to avoid that and depend on your teammates to protect you.
And you are very right about the WoW community. There is tons of BS that goes on as a result of the nature of the Interbutt. But by the time you actually have to interact with those people on voice chat, a lot of them are weeded out. To do the raid endgame content requires finding the right group of people, and being able to prove to them that you can contribute, which basically means you can follow directions, and learn from your mistakes.
As for that Priest nerf, I really don't like that they put Prayer of Mending on a cooldown. It used to be a great survival tool to run away from people while spamming it on yourself since it's instant cast for about 1.2k even in my dmg gear, I'm not really sure why they thought that was OP. I love bear tanks. I love being in a party with Druids in general, they buff the heck out of a priest's healing ability.
