Same here basically. The moment Dark Dawn released, my DS broke and I had no money to buy a new one. So the money which was saved for Dark Dawn basically was used to buy weed instead.

I mean, I used to money to raise my Psynergy level so I could learn Growth and Blaze. :smirk:
In hindsight I shouldn't complain. I actually have GS2 downloaded, haven't played yet because W101 and FE7
IDK where you are in Europe but amazon UK has it for decently cheap, and I believe they ship to all of Europe.

I still don't own a working DS to be honest... And whenever I found a working emulator, I never found a working ROM to play it. So yeah, sucks.

I don't think we're allowed to post emus/roms or else I would. Someone confirm this?

You can't post ROMs, or links thereto, on the forum itself, but what goes on in private messages and such is generally your own business.

Emulators are fair game though, if the other boards linking to Dolphin, Project 64, and whatnot, are anything to go by.

Basically we have to pretend these are some sort of internet drugdeals.

I mean I own the game so its fair game for me. I just have it for my decrepit R4 cartridge...

If you're looking for an emu, DeSmuME is by far the best for PC. Androids can run DS rooms too (if the phone supports it), Drastic is the best option there.

(Just so we're clear you CANNOT download nintendo roms at coolrom, that's just the emulator)

Maybe Smashified hasn't done Isaac yet because they know something we don't. That he's already getting a new 3D render because DLC is happening :troll:

Devil's Advocate: Krystal and Shantae are high in request too.
You are right, but do you know if the votes for Krystal are recent or if the Krystal fans ask for her a lot since the beginning?
Because I don't remember seeing a lot of votes for her before the Inklings were Smashified.

Dude, I don't have a twitter.
I just parrot the stuff I heard on the Shantae thread.
Also, I renounce Dark Dawn.
Only because I just found out that my Mudshipping is non-canon.
Yes I never knew who Matthew's mom was before today.

I think it's going to be Shantae, she's generally more requested to be Smashified than Isaac from what I've seen.

But Isaac makes sense too.

Hopefully they make Isaac because he's priority you know cuz he is a NINTENDO CHARACTER, which they have done one of.

edit - Scratch that. 2 of them, made a mistake.

If anything it seems like Nintendo characters aren't the priority for Smashified...

Oh boy, Mudshipping, years since I heard that. You could say the same for spiritshipping.

Speaking of Smashified, I hope that it is Isaac, 'cause it's a shame that they do such great smashified, yet forget that Super Smash focus is Nintendo's All Star and not Nintendo & Friends (I've used this way too many times, wish I hadn't to do so).

I find that really annoying. The main reason I'm so interested is to see Nintendo characters getting smashified. It's not just smashified though, I've noticed a lot of attention seems to go to 3rd parties when it comes to the ballot, I wonder if any of them individually are really getting enough attention to actually make it on to the roster.

Still I suppose you can't blame them for wanting to smashify characters who more than likely won't ever get an official smash render.

You cannot step into their comments without literally getting drowned by Shantae, Krystal and Daisy. I sometimes feel like the requests will dry up once those three are done.

Anyone here who has played Dark Dawn, what are your thoughts on it? It was generally well-received, but it seems like the Golden Sun fanbase was not too pleased with some of the changes.

I'm abstaining until I beat it.
My two biggest "offs" so far are: Mudshipping non-canon, Jenna is Matthew's mother for some reason.
And that while the switch from 2D and 3D was inevitable for a JRPG series, Golden Sun lost a fair amount of it's stylized look and frankly... the world itself doesn't quite transition that well into the change. Even if it's more 2.5D.

Edit: 3) Touch Screen reliance. It's an issue.

I loved the sprites in GS1/2. The 3D was probably the best on the DS, but it isn't quite as comfy as the sprites. I love the dynamic camera angles that the 3D environment lends, too.
As for touch screen reliance, I don't think it's required, is it? You can navigate with the d pad right?

Oh also there's a new Smash Bros. Direct on the Lucas release day (June 14 (flag day)); c'mon Isaac!

Though Jenna was implied to be a love interest iirc, you probably hate Sumia or Sheeda in FE for similar reasons amiright? I personally like the 3D stuff I saw and touch screen: No experience, only seen Judgment in THREEEEEEEDEEEEEEEEEEEE
1) Ryuga, I could go ON about my FE13 ships for both generations. Chrom x Sumia is my canon. No, my controversial ship there is probably Robin x Nowi. And Caeda, as she's translated by FE 11 & 13, is totally most fitting for Marth's wife, no matter how much Nyna wants the Hero King.

2) The 3D is... uncanny valley, if that makes any sense. It's not like the DS remake of FF 3/4 where it's the same game but just with 3D models. Dark Dawn's 2.5 D thing is just a little unsettling, possibly due to how the camera... moves. It's weird to say but it isn't that natural.

And the only JRPG that has used the touch screen in a way normal buttons couldn't is TWEWY. Dark Dawn has no reason for it.

Edit: Just now do I realise that the game has hybrid controls for the menu. I knew you had D-pad movement and shoulder button shortcuts, for some reason I was just exclusively using the touch screen for menu navigation. I am a mega derp. I should probably not be playing it when I'm exhausted and maybe I'd be thinking better.

I felt like the chibi overworld stuff didn't translate well to 3D (though I'm not a fan of chibi in 3D anyway). The summons, and battles in general, looked pretty cool though. The other main gripe I had with Dark Dawn was the points of no return.

Also yes, you can play the game almost entirely without using the touch screen.

Blame TWEWY, it was the last non-pokemon JRPG I played on the DS. Or just me being dumb.

And I've heard about how there were too many points of no return with too little warning.

So... Sakurai is giving us a small presentation on the 14th, what do you think will happen? Will he talk about what was stated or can we expect a "surprise"?

If there isn't a "surprise" in that, then I'm sure there will be at E3... Either way I think we're getting a "surprise". Lol. But I think it's more likely to happen at Sakurai's presentation now that they announced it.

She's not called Caeda in Japanese or European copies of Shadow Dragon iirc

It should be noted that they never said "small". We don't know how long it will go on for. All we know is that:

"To celebrate this update, Masahiro Sakurai will host a special video presentation."

I don't really see why they would go to the trouble of hosting a direct just to talk about stuff we already know about. I mean what can really be said about the Inkling Mii Outfits? and we're getting Lucas soon after the direct so it doesn't seem worthwhile to give us much information on him. Same goes for the miiverse stage. He'll probably go into detail on those modes we're supposed to be getting though. (Tournaments for example)

I'm not saying there won't be a section dealing with this information, it just more than likely isn't the main reason for it.

I think there will almost certainly be a "surprise". (Whether that surprise is actually surprising is something else altogether)

But I don't really think that surprise will be anything we don't already know (Ryu and Roy). Could be wrong, though... Would really like to be.

Well we only know two characters for sure: Ryu and Roy.

I guess the question is between this Smash Bros direct, the digital event and E3 in general are we only getting two character announcements?

It doesn't exactly seem like an appropriately sized flurry of character reveals. I'm banking on there either being a third character reveal we don't know about (maybe Wolf) or perhaps even revealing the first ballot character in model form. (that one is kind of a stretch but it's hardly impossible either) In which case King K Rool may make his debut. (emphasis on the may)

I think it's probably still too much to hope for Isaac to make an appearance.....

Sorry, my bad!
I automatically assumed in my minds eye it would be small, mainly because it's about things we know about... :ohwell:

A third character is not impossible, but I think it's fairly improbable. Revealing both Ryu and Roy is a megaton as far as Nintendo would be concerned, if they assume we didn't see the leak... Which they kind of do assume that, do they not?

You can't really claim to know what Nintendo is thinking. They might consider it a megaton or they might not consider it a megaton. Your own opinion on what seems like a megaton doesn't mean anything.

During the last two years at E3 they have announced three characters each time. So however you look at it, two would be a step down.

You could argue that would be because it's dlc but I don't consider that to be a very compelling argument. There's no way to convincingly argue it one way or the other. It being dlc might mean the situation is different or it could make no difference to Nintendo (and Sakurai) in terms of how much content they want to reveal.

I'm not saying they'll necessarily have trailers and gameplay footage for all of the characters, they might pull another Mewtwo type reveal.

Sorry, my bad!
I automatically assumed in my minds eye it would be small, mainly because it's about things we know about... :ohwell:

Actually I just saw this post on reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/smashbros/comments/3914u9/new_sakurai_post_0608_the_update_that_includes/

"The update that includes Lucas will be available beginning 08:00 AM on June 14 (PT), 17:00 (CEST) on June 14th, and 01:00 AM on June 15 (AEST).

We made a special video broadcast to talk about the update. In it, I'll be on camera to give you all the details!
We'll air the video online right before the update, at 07:40 AM on June 14 (PT), 16:40 (CEST) on June 14th, and 0:40 AM on June 15 (AEST). Please check it out before the update becomes available!"

So it seems the direct will last around 20 minutes. I still think there's bound to be a "surprise" in there somewhere though.
