Do you have a collection of witty taglines for when Isaac is revealed?
My favorite is "Isaac Moves In!"
IsaacSmash.png

I think it would be funny for Isaac and KRool to share the same reveal trailer. Because Isaac has a long history of fighting lizard people. Maybe K Rool is a Proxinian? Kraid for Smash

They do this to literally every tweet they receive, so it doesn't mean anything.

Well let's hope we get Isaac one way or another, we really need some 3d art of Isaac that isn't just a manipulation of his one model.

All right fellow supporters, so I've decided to make a moveset for Isaac, mainly focusing on Psynergy. Isaac/Felix/Matthew will be fast, mid weight, strong swordsmen. Their running speed and jumping height would be slighty better than Shulk's. Here is my idea for Isaac's moveset:

A: Isaac quickly slashes with his sword using only one hand.
A -> A -> A: Isaac slashes downward, then upward, using only one hand and on the final strike, he will hold the sword with both hands, dealing slighly more damage.

A -> A -> A continuously: The same as before, however, instead of the final dual-handed sword slash, Isaac will put the sword on his back and will cast a small Gaia in front of him, damaging constantly anyone caught in it. Releasing A will 'cause a bigger rock to break and finish the attack.

Forward Tilt: Isaac will do a quick sword slash, similar to Link's, although it will be faster, but will deal slightly less damage.

Down Tilt: Isaac will cast Spire, it will be executed similar to Mewtwo's Down Smash, however, it is much faster and weaker and won't have much KB.

Up Tilt: Isaac will cast Growth, surrouding himself of vines that are the same size as him. This attack will be very fast and will have very few KB, making it an awesome combo tool.

Dash Attack: Isaac will make a big Psynergy fist appear in front of him.

Forward Smash: This move will have three variants: Flint -> Venus -> Critical Strike. The default one will be Flint, in which Isaac will do his signature sword strike from the Golden Sun series, having Flint in the tip of the sword, empowering the sword. This will be a fast and pretty powerful attack. After using Flint, Isaac's new Forward Smash will be Venus, in which he summons Flint that strike 5 times. This attack will be similar to DHD and it can be tilted to go slighlty up or down. After summoning Venus, Isaac's new Forward Smash will temporarly be Critical Strike, which is basically his signature strike from the Golden Sun series. After 20 seconds of summoning Venus, Isaac will flash, indicating Flint has been set and will be Isaac's Forward Smash again.

Down Smash: Isaac will punch the ground quickly, casting Earthquake, in which two stone pillars will pop out of the ground. This attack will be fast and will deal good damage and has high knockback, however, it also has some ending lag. It will have an even higher knockback on any buried foe.

Up-Smash: Isaac will cast Wild Growth, which will be like Growth, but it will deal more damage, will have higher knockback and will have a much bigger reach (the reach will be almost as big as Palutena's Up Smash), however, the damage and knockback will be weaker the higher this attack strikes.

Forward Air: Isaac quickly slashed with his sword.

Back air: Isaac will grow a vine out of his hand, which will be used for a powerful backward whip.

Down air: Isaac will cast Stone Spire, lauching a big stone to go downward. The stone will break and spike any opponent that it comes in contact with.

Up air: Isaac will cast Force, making a big fist go upwards. The fist will have the same range as Mii Gunner's Up air. Once it hits, the fist will explode, dealing damage.

Grab: Isaac will cast Grip, which will be a long-ranged grab, however, Grip will have a unique feature that is the following: if Isaac grabs a lighter character, the character will go to where Isaac is, however, if Isaac grabs a heavier character, Isaac will go to where the grabbed character is.

Pummel: Isaac will constrain the opponent with his Psynergy hand.

Forward Throw: Isaac will spin his target three times in the air before launching them at full force. The KB will be the same as Ness's Back Throw.

Back Throw: Isaac will quickly throw his opponent backwards.

Down Throw: Isaac unleashes Ground to intensify the gravity near him, burying his foe. Gravity will automaticaly set himself after the throw.

Up Throw: Isaac tosses his opponent up and then quickly slashes him with his sword.

Now, the special moves:

B: Ragnarok: Isaac will cast Ragnarok, making a giant energy sword come down from the sky. This attack can be charged and stored for later. Ragnarok will go downward until it his a platform or a fighter. A fully charged Ragnarok will go through smaller platforms (example: battlefield). Once it hits the ground or a fighter, it will explode.

Side B: Move: Isaac will cast move, creating a hand of about his size with a long range (it can go from one side to another on the battlefield) and it won't damage any oppoents. It can also block projectiles, but won't reflect them.

Up B: Retreat: Isaac will burst himself in colorful bubbles, becoming invulnerable to any attack. The bubbles can be controlled freely and will last for a certain distance or 4 seconds. Players can press B or A to make Isaac appear to deal a quick sword blow. It will leave Isaac in free fall.

Down B: Gaia: A circle will appear below Isaac and this attack can be charged. While charging, the move will become more powerful and the circle will become bigger and at maximum charge, Isaac will cast Gaia.

Final Smash: Judgement: Four Venus Djinn will appear above Isaac and he will dissapear with them. Then, a winged knight appears on top the battlefield and he will cast a small energy ball that will generate a huge energy field that drags any nearby fighter in. After the battlefield is emerged, the energy field will explode, dealing very high damage and will have one of the higher knockbacks among Final Smashes.

Now, the custom moves:
B-2: Titan Blade: Pretty much like Ragnarok, however, while Ragnarok will come down in a diagonal angle, Titan Blade will come down in a vertical angle.

B-3: Odyssey: Isaac will cast two small swords in front of him. If they hit any fighter, Isaac will quickly cast a giant sword, breaking the two smaller ones and launching the target away. When casting the giant sword, Isaac will have super armour.

Side B-2: Force: Isaac will cast a big fist at his opponents, this attack is like an horizontal and stronger version of his Up Air.

Side B-3: Enhanced Move: Like Move, however, the hand will travel faster.

Up B-2: Lift: Two hands appear below Isaac and they will launch him in the air. Isaac will take out his sword and will point it upward while being launched. This move can be rotated to cover more horizontal range when needed.

Up B-3: Echo: Isaac will call Echo to help him. Isaac will first do a slash on the place with Echo on the tip and then he will go upwards with Echo, striking any opponents that get it their way.

Down B-2: Moving Gaia: This attack will have the same power as a mid-charged Gaia. It can be moved across the battlefield at reasonable speed, being good to surprise opponents.

Down B-3: Spread Gaia: This attack can be charged like Gaia, and when released, it will cross a fixed distance on both of Isaac's sides. If the first rock hits, it will drag the opponent 'till the final rock, that will have higher KB.

Hope you guys like my movepool and any feedback will be appreciated.

This thread gathered more than 2000 upvotes on /r/gaming on Reddit.

There's something strange with Golden Sun: I saw plenty of people saying they loved the games, but in the same time don't remember it until being talked about it again. Also, there's a terrible amount of negativism about the possibility of a 4th game (not even mentionning that I'm sure some people still don't know about Dark Dawn).
It's weird, I mean, it's only been 5 years since the last game in the series. Some franchises had a way longer hiatus and they're still alive.

And I say this while being someone frankly pessimistic, yet I still have a lot of hopes for Golden Sun.

Its because this has been spread all over the internet that Dark Dawn wasn't successful and so its unlikely to continue, it hasn't had a game in a while (its only been since 2010; as you noted, many franchises have had far worse hiatuses). Hell, even GS had a worse hiatus; EIGHT years between Lost Age and Dark Dawn. SEVEN before we even knew it existed.

Honestly, the "Dark Dawn was received badly" thing was entirely the fault of the fans.

That game was so heavily looked forward to, and it did not live up to fan expectations. There were a couple of really mind-boggling decisions in it, from the point of view of someone who had played them all. Why didn't you get Mind Read? Why were there so many points of no return? Why didn't the plotlines The Lost Age set up get resolved?

Fans LIKED the game. They just didn't like the direction of some of the design aspects. Had they known it would be used as ammunition against the series, NONE of the fans would have spoken against it. Dark Dawn is still a GREAT game. It's just not up to the quality of the originals.

It's not like Sticker Star or Other M, where it's a universally hated bad game that is a part of a great series. Dark Dawn is just a great game among a series that is nearly perfect.

The fans (and only the fans) complained. Past tense. No one complains about it anymore, because it's not THAT bad of a game, and the fans realize that complaining about it is just hurting the series.

Sadly, that's not true, there's still a lot of complaining from what I see just now. :ohwell:
I'm being honest and admit that Dark Dawn is the less good game of the three, but it still has some good things. Though that's not everyone's case. :(

Basically, its comparatively bad compared to GS1/2. Yeah, that is an annoyance. It wasn't as good as the first game. However, the idiocy that spreads now is that Dark Dawn was a widely critically panned game. This is completely and totally 100% FALSE. It got GLOWING reviews from critics.

The only problem is it didn't live up to the hype, not that it was a bad game.

What you see just now is people complaining that non-fans are running with the "Dark Dawn was badly received".

It's not true, it's never been true. The fans bought the game, and a lot of them enjoyed it. People who bought it as their first Golden Sun game loved it. Critics praised it (mostly). It was a WELL received game. Just not as well received as the originals.

Golden Sun Dark Dawn was my first Golden Sun game. I became a bigger supporter of Isaac because of it (even though I guess it should be Matthew since he's the main guy of that game.) I liked the gameplay and story of the game which is eventually going to make me get the first 2.

I'm just going to be that guy and say that I enjoyed Dark Dawn more than the original Golden Sun. Never played the second game yet, but from playing both the 1st and the 3rd, I can safely say that I personally enjoyed DD more. I could explain why, but that's not really important. DD was a great game, and I dislike how much negativity surrounds it. It's not Metroid Other M, and it doesn't deserve to be treated as such.

I liked DD too though I've never played the originals. Is it bad that I liked Metroid: Other M gameplay wise. Not storywise god no. but the gameplay was pretty good.

Of course that's not bad. I don't really hate Other M either, but I can understand why someone would. The story isn't great, but the game itself can be pretty fun. I was just saying that many Golden Sun fans that I've talked to act like DD is the worst game ever made, and that's not the case at all. It gets me a little angry, since it's probably my favorite DS RPG game. It's not bad to have an opinion, even if not a lot of people agree with it.

I thought I was the only one who preferred Dark Dawn to the original! It's probably mainly due to the fact that I played it first, and I can't give a justifiable reason as to my opinion, but I found the game overall to be better. Maybe it could have been because my view wasn't obscured by expectations of a better game and I wasn't aware of any plotlines from Lost Age which hadn't been followed up on. I don't know, I might re-play it one day and find that, after completing the first two, I do actually prefer the originals.

One thing that did annoy me about Dark Dawn (other than Kraden) was the cliffhanger ending, kind of like in the original. Fortunately, having both on the e-shop meant that I didn't have to wait to play Lost Age after the ending of Golden Sun.

Funny, I thought I was the only one who liked DD more than the original as well. It's nice to know that I'm not alone. Like you, it's probably because I played it first, but I don't know... Something about it just...stuck with me more. There's little improvements to the battle system (in my opinion) and I find the game overall to be very charming. There are little things that annoyed me about the game (mainly how everyone had to say something all the time, even when it was unnecessary), but any complaint I have would be nitpicking. I wasn't bothered by anything plot related because I didn't know anything about the two games before it, and even now that I know, it still doesn't bother me at all. I'll always love Dark Dawn, and while I wouldn't say it's WAY better than the original, it certainly was more fun for me. They're both really good, but DD will always be my favorite GS game.

Well...I shouldn't say that as fact yet, since I haven't played the second game. Still waiting on it's virtual console release. I'm constantly told that it's the best of the series, so whenever I finally get to play it, I hope it lives up to my high expectations.

I like the original more than DD, however, I still loved to play DD, it was a pretty fun and good game, however, there were only two things in my opinion that if removed, they would make the game way better: points of no return and the ending cliffhanger. I'm not sure how much a DS game can store, but I was expecting DD to be as long as both the original games together.

Guys tweet at @smashified for Omni to make a render of Isaac, they just did one for K. Rool.
Isaac's probably on the list. Just that other big requests keep getting in the way for him. K. Rool was one of the most requested characters in the whole series. So maybe Isaac's in the next few cause I've seen a lot of people ask for him from Omni too. I already tweeted at him to do it.

Yeah, my only complaints would be minor ones as well. I actually find it amusing how everyone always says something in Golden Sun, especially right at the end of the first game:
Garet: "It looks like it's finally time to leave Gondowan."
Ivan: "It's so strange...We've been traveling for so long, and
yet it feels like we've only just begun."
Mia: "Now that I think about it, so many things have happened."
Garet: "But our journey will be over as soon as we find Jenna, right?"
Isaac: "Yes."
Garet: "The end of one journey, but the beginning of another? No
way!"
Ivan: "You didn't forget, did you, Garet?"
Mia: "Our promise to Babi."
Garet: "Oh...Lemuria!"
Ivan: "I wonder what kind of place Lemuria is."
Mia: "We have to find Jenna before going to Lemuria, don't we?"
Isaac: "No."
Garet: "Huh? Jenna's going to be very sad when I tell her
what you said!"
Ivan: "At any rate, this will be our first time on the ocean."
Garet: "So this is the ocean Kraden wanted me to see."
Mia: "The seas are very rough. Do you think we will be okay?"
Isaac: "No."
Mia: "I guess it's hard to say. Still, we must go, just the
same..."
Garet: "Well...Shall we, then?"
Ivan: "To sea..."
Mia: "Jenna is waiting for us!"
I mean, how long does it take to get on a boat?! Also, I love the yes/no or face options (in Dark Dawn) because they're so weird and you have no idea what Matthew 'says' in Dark Dawn.

Fortunately, as I live in Europe, I'm currently playing through Lost Age on the Virtual Console. So far, I've found it better than the original but I'm not sure whether I prefer it to Dark Dawn yet...

I didn't play Dark Dawn, but thought Other M was actually pretty good. Only the parts where you do stuff in so-called '3D vision' really, really sucks. However, I never played Dark Dawn, and feel bad for it. I absolutely would buy the game if there was a working DS here in the house, but there isn't... So far, emulation also didn't work. And I seriously lack the patience to watch play throughs.

Yeah, I lost my work last time though so I have yet to do it again but it is coming I promise.

I'm actually working on drawing the Smash characters right now, I have some weird consistency issues with my art style that bug me and I want them ironed out before I do Isaac.

It's a bit short-sighted to call other Other M "bad". The narrative and characterization was definitely an unfortunate departure from what Metroid fans wanted, expected, and really what it should've maintained, but the gameplay was perfectly fine. For the most part. It's a shame Nintendo probably won't return to gameplay like that because of the stigma Other M carries for a reason that has nothing to do with the gameplay.

All right guys, this is Isaac's thread, not Other M thread. Also @ StrikeBlade StrikeBlade , weren't you working on an Isaac moveset similar to the Banjo Kazooie one?
Yes sir sorry sir.

Other M doesnt really have good gameplay either. It's just Hold B, thrash D Pad for Sense Move, shoot monsters, rinse, repeat. Watch cool lethal strike animation, hold shoot, thrash d pad, shoot, watch, hold, thrash, shoot, watch. Walk slowly into a cutscene, go into first person mode and find what the game wants you to find.

I really hate Other M.

Sadly, that's not true, there's still a lot of complaining from what I see just now. :ohwell:
I'm being honest and admit that Dark Dawn is the less good game of the three, but it still has some good things. Though that's not everyone's case. :(
The issue is simply perception becoming reality.

Dark Dawn has a few major storytelling flaws, ergo it's "a terrible game".

And on the Internet, anything bad is amplified up to 11, and we live in a day and age where people get furious if a game everybody wants to have 9/10s and 10/10s gets a 7/10 from somebody.

The main issue with Dark Dawn was predominantly the fact that the game ends on a cliffhanger, and rather than highlighting it, it became the main point of complaining, which makes sense, since it took 7 years for the game to actually be made after The Lost Age, and we still don't know if the fourth installment will come out.

I listened to that video from the last page, and I get that a marketing person would have an issue given how the casual gamer would go "Oh, we already have Shulk!" or "Not another swordsman!". But, the problem I have is... Golden Sun is a unique game as far as what the character is, appearances be damned. If Isaac is a unique fighter, then Isaac is likely to be accepted, especially as a guy who has a sword but doesn't necessarily use it in battle, whereas the majority of the swordsmen (and women) use their blade as the crux of their moveset. Plus, Isaac predates Shulk by a decade @_@.

If I were to compare Dark Dawn to anything, it would be like Donkey Kong 64/Super Mario Sunshine (Flawed, but enjoyable in some aspects despite not living up to expectations). Still nowhere near as "controversial" as Other M and Sticker Star.

You know the funny part? Sunshine's one of my favorite installments. And I thought Sticker Star wasn't THAT bad, though it could've done a lot better on things like letting Bowser's personality be explored (a Paper Mario original) and being more helpful with boss fights. Plus, DK64 had good music.

I cannot find anything nice to say about Other M, however.

Looks like he's getting a lot of recognition =D.

Thank you relaxalax =D.

Didn't like how Inkling was placed in though, the game hasn't even been released but meh!
k. Rool should be number 1# because there too many people, K. Rool is popular both Japan and America number 1#, Inkling is not even that good neither, is popular here but in Japan, Bandana Waddle was more popular and even MK III, Literally a obscure Nintendo Character. The only potential are the amiibos, that it.

Isaac is not that popular but Shulk to me was even WORSE conditions, believe me, I live the dark days of people getting Xenoblade chronicles for the Wii and killing themselves because there sold out.

Isaac can be more than robin.
Assuming Isaac makes it in, how fast do you think he'll play? I personally think he will be around links speed!

He definitely can't be as slow as Robin or even Shulk(without speed), especially when he's considerably fast in Golden Sun.
I literally forgot that he very fast too. Need to be faster than Shulk (Without speed right), that for sure.

Still nice video and info.

Sorry, I just had to fix the spelling errors in your post. I'm sure this is what you meant.
