Personally I hate FD no what matter the character or MU. I hate not having platforms, which is also why I dont exactly like stadium for the most part. However, I will say that even though FD has no platforms, its still relatively fair and in comparisson to the other stages, probably the most neutral.

Don't the japanese consider DL64 (melee) to be the most balanced stage in any smash game? I thought I heard that somewhere. I don't understand why so many people dislike the stage. There's the wind, sure, but apart from onstage edgeguarding it really doesn't screw me up that often.

I like DL 64 the most for it's inredible adaptability for camping!!

There are so many ways to do it on this stage I just can't get enough :]

Back when I really wasn't that good at Melee I loved Final Destination. Now that I'm better, especially with utilizing platforms I hate it. I always feel uncomfortable and limited on the stage. Its a lot of fun when you're playing Marth but for most of the cast it just kind of narrows everyone's options it seems. Some of my most stinging losses have come there too so I guess that doesn't help it for me either lol.

For Dreamland 64 it depends a good deal on what character you play whether you dislike it or not. Its not very kind to certain characters that get camped out easily and for some characters just makes certain matchups of their harder by giving their opponent too much space.

The only characters I can tolerate FD with are Bowser(Pseudo Chaingrabs) and Falcon because he doesnt need Platforms to combo(though I'd rather be on FoD than FD)

I want to drive a discussion here about the stage list and stage selection and its impact on what some people call "metagame".

A few questions to start:

1. Do you feel the stage list is balanced. Do you believe "balance" to be a relative term to your preconceived notions of the represented word and etcetera??
No

2. Do you feel the addition of any stage (i.e. Onett) would benefit the tournament structure??
Yes
3. Do you think the removal of any stages (DL64 specifically) would be beneficial??
Yes
4. Do you believe, as I do, that BF is the best stage??
No
5. If not, why? What is your preferred stage and why??
YS, doesnt benefit runaway strategies as much as the other "neutrals", FoD can probably work too.
Answered the questions in the quote.

the size and design of the stage promotes camping in general.
DEF. disagree with this, unless ur talking about roy vs. fox or some **** i can't even remember a tournament match in the last 4 years where someone legitimately used dreamland like a ******

edit: that didn't have hbox in it

theoretical potential is such a weak argument if it's not an issue in tournament. not saying it isn't, but Lovage is, so if it isn't then what justification do you have? it's absurd to ban something because of something that isn't happening.

Camping is booooring! :( (yeeeah, says the Peach main... if people weren't so hilariously bad at fighting her, I'd probably be maining Falco by now, and have her as my secondary :D)

But, yeah, I can't really recall specific dreamland camping either, so I don't really see a problem either... Refusing to get up from the ledge with Jiggs / Sheik have been abused far worse, and even that doesn't really require action.

It makes getting a % lead THE gamewinning move if you are faster then the opponent and you are playing as jiggs.

Jiggs vs peach, samus and probably more characters should basicly be close to like 100% winrate as long as they get a stocklead on DL64.

Theoretical potencial is what has got stages banned in the first place, just look at the Onettban...

The Potential for camping...

hmm

I really disagree with that argument considering half the stages that are legal already have this potential, basically it excludes Yoshi's, Battlefield and FoD.

Like FD is a huge flat stage, leaving this, no room to really avoid projectiles except for your own jumps/floats etc. Plus considering characters like Fox/Falco are so fast with so many options, by the time you closed in, they could just bair you away and keep firing. Moving on.

Stadium is still relatively large with two small platforms. Yes the stage chages but when it does half the time it just becomes Corneria 2.0. So again Moving on.

Dreamland is a large stage with its 3 platforms. If anything because of these platforms it reduces the potential to camp out of any of these stages.

err, I dunno I think FD wouldnt be too bad either depending on characters involved.

Im probably wrong with my thoughts but whatever thats my 2 cents.
