Jabs yes, ftilts, not so much.

I mean sure, it's useful, but generally speaking, there's something better.

Utilt and dtilt both start up faster and have less lag, fsmash is only about three frames slower in coming out and winds down in just thirteen frames more.

Grabs and reverse Dolphin Slashes are worth mentioning too.
ftilt hitbox starts from the bottom up, and u dont lean forward as much and expose yourself to that jigglypuff/sheik bair.

dsmash is hella fast btw, five frames (=to sheik dsmash) as opposed to ten for fsmash, which as i said starts up top so its actually slower than ten out to front.

watch that cosmo v. 4% set, one game ends with a crouch cancelled dsmash ko, wtf? Uthrow usmash is good on fastfallers cuz they are in mental stun for two seconds going wtf he usmashed me and forget to tech.

Yes! I love using U-smash at mid percents especially. This way when they miss their tech they get a tipped f-smash to the face. Fun stuff.

I once accidentally combo'ed into a running u-smash. My friend, who was a lot better than me at the time (probably still is), looked at me and said "Wow...I was definitely not expecting that." Best reason to use upsmash--it's never expected (but don't quote me on that).

Okay, I've been trying the ftilt... it's got a whole lot more knockback than I thought. So yeah, I approve!

i actually think it's easy to pivot into attacks using A. i can do pivoted fsmashs and ftilts at will with A, but i can't pivot into an attack with the cstisk to save my life... maybe it's not if you learn using the cstick.

I find pivoting into fsmashes easier with the c-stick, you can ask Proverbs, when I decide to do them I do

It's all about timing and situations. If I'm dashing forward and I want to pivot to Fsmash forward as well. I find that much easier to do with the c-stick (2 inputs -> dash away ->c-stick forward) instead of A (3 inputs -> dash away -> dash forward +A).

The one thing I WISH I could do is pivot dtilt/uptilt. Not even close to being accurate enough to pull those off. I don't even think it's possible with the dashing pivot method, only the flick method. And my flick method pivot's are slow.

whats dash pivot method? i just dash, flick the other way releases
Dash pivot is simply the one during the dash dance where you only have 1 frame to pivot. I don't think it's any more difficult than flick pivoting for smashes, it is harder for everything else though.

the way i pivot (which i guess has been labeled "dash-pivot") is to dash in one direction, dash the other direction (as if i was starting a dash-dance) and time hitting A with the one frame where marth is in the standing position. (it sounds harder than it is.) it is possible to use this method in your first turn or during a DD.

i haven't taught myself how to do the flick method, but i can pivot any smash (though you can jc the usmash and CC the dsmash), ftilts, and jabs using the dash pivot. in terms of pivoting the u and d-tilts i haven't been able to do that with dash-pivot, at the very least i think it would take really fast fingers and ridiculous timing.

[edit: wait. boston! how did i miss that? i'm going to school in boston (tufts) i'd like to play you guys (proverbs/arcnatural) sometime.]

PM me your availability, I normally pick up Proverbs from Wellington station on Tuesdays. And he actually goes to Emerson which is right next to Tufts so you might even be able to walk to his dorm/hotel.

The reason why I don't think you can uptilt dtilt with the dash pivot is because of the 1 frame turn (where you have to hit the opposite direction. You can hold slight right and full right to ftilt or fsmash. But there is no way you can do slight right to slight up without the up registering as an upsmash.

I could be wrong though and you possibly could be able to do the one frame turn with enough up direction held to uptilt.

i think you're right that i couldn't do it. i think it's probably possible though, given enough precision. it'd likely be easier just to learn the flick though.

except jiggs/pichu. Failure range.

Best ftilt is Yoshi's. honestly.
Jiggs F-tilt is really good just under used it is a good edge guarding tool against characters like Captain Falcon, Gannon or Ness. But against those characters you really shouldn't have to edge guard if you get them off the stage with Jiggs they should die lol

I think Jigglypuff probably has better edgeguarding options like fsmash, dsmash or dash attack... or even just WoPs.
