Wow, this is turning out to be a bad year for entertainment in general.

First all those comedians, Isaac Hayes, now the movie guy? It's a shame.

I remember Don LaFontaine was on a Progressive commercial once. He seemed pretty cool.

The guy that played shonuff in the last dragon died also. Julius carry III. Around the end of the year people start "dropping (like flies) dead".

Now all the movie trailers will suck without him. Time to get used to some other guy talking.

Who else will start an epic trailer with "In a time..."?

That was the best. Terrible news.

I saw an interview of Don once, and he was really nice, clever, and funny.

We'll truly miss you, Don. No one can ever do what you did.

Because he only made one good movie?
But the movie you're referring to isn't just "good." It's really, REALLY good. <_<

And I don't care what anyone says, I loved A Knight's Tale. >_>

But seriously, to the topic at hand. Goodbye Don LaFontaine. I never knew you personally, but you had a nifty voice. Morgan Freeman, Christopher Lee or Pablo Fransisco will have a tough time filling your shoes.

LaFontaine's voice wasn't just a voice. It was a cultural icon that defined general trailer narration for any and all popular movies. I think it's one of the things many people think of when they think of a movie theater. Imitators will try, but there won't be another voice like his that can roll something off on command without voice editing or something of that nature. Shame.
