Ike was my favorite in the last Smash and definitely one of my favorite Lords in the FE Series.

Think I might pass on Ike for Marth this time around though.

Now that trailer was really a treat for us Fire Emblem fans. So, Ike's Forward Aerial and Down Taunt are confirmed?

It's also nice seeing blue flames on Eruption. What attack do you guys suppose Ike is using in this screenshot? Quick Draw?

That is either Quick draw or Ftilt for sure. It looks as though very little about Ike is going to change...and for his tournament legitimacy, thats a BAD thing

Dang it. I was really hoping he would be able follow-up with Aether if that was Quick Draw, much like how Fox could use Illusion and Fire Fox together.

At least there's still gameplay footage yet to be seen of it that would allow us to analyze it fully. ^-^

I had zero doubt, and when he got revealed, it felt wholly natural. But when I got into reading some smash forums, which was after his reveal, I came across these topics saying that people expected him gone. Only then I realized that there was the chance of him leaving. I'm glad I read into it only after his reveal, and that he was still in, of course.

There was no chance of Ike ever being cut. People were just butthurt over Roy getting cut they felt Ike HAD to get cut, because there's "no way" Fire Emblem would get three playable characters because it hasn't happened to date.

Even Sakurai never planned to cut Ike. He didn't add Chrom because Chrom was too similar to "Ike and Marth." In other words, before development even started Sakurai FULLY intended on bringing Ike back. He never even CONSIDERED cutting Ike for Chrom.

Ike's here to stay!

Ike's a very different Lord compared to all other Lords in the FE series. Getting rid of him would be stupid. I can bet that he's in the Top 5 (if not, Top 3) fan-favorite Lords in the whole series. Type Fire Emblem on Google Images and his portrait is the second picture that comes up (the first one being a picture of all the Lords in which he is included). He made an epic debut in Brawl but didn't have much to show for in the game itself but it would be very surprising if Sakurai didn't improve on him in the next game.

He's definitely one of my favorite Lords in FE (Marth, Eliwood/Roy, and Ike) so I'm not complaining... as long as he's rightfully much better in Sm4sh.

Ike could use super armor for his QuickDraw and smash attacks, so if he's still slow, he'll at least have something other than power to make up for it.

Honestly though, it would be better to give Ike a speed buff to stay true to his game, like they did with Ike's Eruption by making the fire blue (Project M inspiration much? ).

That's actually what I meant. His mobility is fine. Attack speed is what matters.

The only reason I thought he was going to be gone was because Sakurai said we may lose characters. I felt it could have either way.

Though I love Ike and feel bad for doubting his return with chroms popularity and him being another blue haired sword wielding protagonist, I considered his chances low. Just made it all the more better when the reveal hit.

As disappointed that I am about this, I think the Peach mains have it far worse; they have waited for nearly a year now since her announcement, a little over ten months, to be exact. Despite her being announced much earlier than characters, like Zelda and Yoshi, she was not even playable at E3.

Like other Ike mains, I am really anxious to see actual gameplay footage of him, specifically how he plays compared to his SSBB incarnation. ^-^

As I've said in other threads, I'm hoping for an improved Ike in terms of attack speed. Everything else about him (specifically speaking of his unique B Specials) are fine with me. It's just his sluggish hits that need to be improved.

But yeah, those Peach mains got it rough too don't they /: I think it's time to join forces lol

Seriously, it may be because of the timing. He was revealed not long before E3, where Palutena, Mii Fighters, and Pac Man were confirmed. The fact that he wasn't playable may have helped.

Dude makes a lot of believable banter, doesn't reveal anything major other than they get to play monthly builds of the game, updated with new stages and characters who are revealed. Claims only higher-ups like Bill and Reggie know the smash roster.

So take that for what it's worth, which probably isn't anything. Can't provide picture proof, since no employees in the treehouse are allowed to bring their cell phones into the office without supervision. So, yeah. No substantiation. But THEN he started to talk about how some revealed characters have changed through the builds and he said this:

I want this very much to be true.

He also said Charizard was bad but has been improved a bit, and that L-cancelling and crouch cancelling were taken out of Smash 4 due to wifi synch issues.

So, yeah, unsubstantiated 4chan "I work at NoA" rumor, but dang this would be cool if it were true. This guy is either a good liar or he could maybe just maybe be legit, who knows.

There just isn't anything to talk about, sadly. This thread has opened my eyes to the plight of the Peach fans, however, and for that I am grateful. I had not realized they have had so little to go on. But, to be fair, many of Peach's attacks have been shown in screenshots at least. For Ike, all we have are dash attack, up smash, down smash, fair, Aether, Counter, ftilt, and maybe one other one I'm forgetting.

In screenshot form, all of Ike's moves look the same, more or less, from Brawl. At least Peach has new visuals to ponder over.

I think he was like 23? Out of 35 characters that's not that bad.

A lot of characters are going to make the jump from low to, at least, mid tier Zelda for one example.
My guess is that Namco is doing a substantial job with the balancing as it seems every character is good IF you know how to play them.
