Ike is epic...he needs to stay. He got great power and 3 spikes. He is used by a lot of people. I know Marth will return and I'd like to see Roy again.

It's safe to assume that Ike is the 2nd most recognized Fire Emblem lord worldwide, cutting him out doesn't make much sense.

If he doesn't return in SSB4, may Hurricane Ike strike us all down.

Not me really, except for the hair. I liked steriod infused Ike in Radiant Dawn. Especially as Vanguard he could function best as a real heavy weight this time.

I'd have his B Across move replaced with a hand axe. Also Ragnell can attack from range with a sword beam like attack, so I'd like to see that incorporated into his moveset somehow too.

Ike has so much potential in his moveset. I'd be very upset if he got cut. Hope they buff him ito an actual heavy weight. His moves have perfect fitting animations, yet i always felt Ike's Brawl incaration didn't do him much justice. Hope they mad buff his Aether. It should be a lot stronger than it is. Some faster moves wpuld help to. Especially F Tilt. Hope his Quick Draw becomes jump canceled to. But a set jump animation, that sets him higher than normal jumps. He was quite the jump striker in Fire Emblem. So hope this gets translated in Smash better.

Well, there is not much to say about ike, but if it's one thing, it is that he needs to platform better.
He is not as dreadful at is, unlike King DeDeDe, or god forbid ganondorf, but if there is an adventure mode, He should be platformin' better.

Because it is hard to be a bad*** when you keep falling down every ditch you cross.

Nah. Roy was intended to be in with Ike but was simply cut due to time constraints. They were both intended to be in the game so no one replaced anyone.

If both are in, and they insist on Ike keeping Eruption and Great Aether with fire, I sure hope they'll make the fire blue.

Seriously, am kinda stressed by the posibility they'll remove Ike. He's my favorite Fire Emblem character of all time easily. He's the only possible cut from the Brawl roster that would seriously upset me.

But am hoping his unique and popular moveset makes him stay. It's also true that he's still one of the most popular Fire Emblem characters up till today. So that also helps.

Ike. I just love Ike. He is literally the coolest guy and one of my favorite characters that I have played with in super smash bros and fire emblem. That being said I think its best for the super smash bros series if he were cut. (please don't kill me)

My thinking behind this reasoning is that first of all I think that awakening will get a character in this game, possibly two. Of the awakening characters I think the ones that have a chance are Chrom, tactician, lucina (god forbid), and if they want to throw a fan favorite in there they could stick in Owain. Maybe there will be unused character data for kellam too (see what I did there) Of these Owain wouldnt be in because he just isnt an important enough character and Lucina (once again god-forbid) literally would be marth. also I dont like lucina so there is that. Chrom on the other hand is almost guaranteed a spot no matter what everyone seems to think. Unfortunately, thats probly gonna mean no Ike. If you stick lances into Chroms moveset it can even be pretty unique. He can have similar moves to Ike and than some lance moves (javelin?) and he can be fairly unique. Plus I think hes a good character to begin with. Ill get to the tactician in a bit.

You may be saying "why does awakening deserve a spot" well for starters its the most recent game and also it is the most well-received and best-selling and most mainstream fire emblem game worldwide. path of radiance and radiant dawn are old(ish) games now. plus they didnt sell great and well radiant dawn was just awful (standing ovation for my favorite character Meg! /sarcasm)

okay okay, truth of the matter is though that fire emblem will likely get 3 characters in ssb4 so doesnt that mean that they can have Ike marth (I havent mentioned marth but lets face it hes not getting cut) and chrom? well in my opinion no... as much as I love Ike and Chrom I dont think we will or at least should get both because the three representatives will be so similar. They are all blue hair, sword bearing, bad ass males! at least thats how everyone who doesnt play fire emblem and does play smash bros will see it (which is a huge portion) As I think Chrom and marth are fairly certain, that means Ike (unfortunately) gets the boot.

so then who will the third rep be? I could rant so long about this but I think it comes down to the tactician, Roy, Lyn, or some villain (most likely the black knight (even though he technically does fir the blue haired, sword bearing bad ass male)). Roy and Lyn are both viable even though both their games have gone by the wayside since they have both been made popular from super smash bros. Main villains are always viable characters unless they are something like mother brain from metroid, but since all of the villains in awakening are kind of lame and minor, they will probably have to reach into the vault to find a good villain which would probably be the black knight or possibly nergal. I think the tactician (or maybe they would call him robin) would be a good addition since there has technically been a tachtician in every fire emblem game, the tactician plays such a vital role in awakening arguably just as vital as chrom, and as I read someone else on this forum say the tactitician would symbolize fire emblem as a series as being a strategy rpg. also he/she would have magic and a magic fire emblem user would be a god send. (magic+swords=baller status) Id like to believe my favorite fire emblem characters such as Gatrie, Gilliam, Joshua, Ephraim and cute little Ryan have a chance but they dont other than maybe ephraim but I still seriously doubt it.

So basically I love Ike since he is the only bearer of my second favorite class in PoR and RD (no one can stop my Generals) but I just dont think he will make the cut since there are better, less stereotypical, choices of characters to put in the game. But seriously playing RD was only tolerable since Ike was such a bad ass in it. Im excited to see how he looks in SMT X FE if it does have past fire emblem characters.

Honestly. Ike should stay. He's pretty much the Western Icon of Fire Emblem, he's been in all two console releases of Fire Emblem. FE9 is madly popular. And with Priam around as descendant of Ike in Marth's universe shows IS goes out of their way to show their love for Ike. I seriously don't think it's wise to cut him. As he's still the only real potential heavy weight Fire Emblem Smash character.

Chrom might be similar, but I don't see him fully replacing Ike yet. Especially seeing as Chrom isn't even the most popular / important character in Awakening either. Those spots would go to Lucina and the Avatar respectively.

It's likely Ike will come back, but with the diversity of fire emblem characters, you never know what's gonna happen for sure.

Also, some peeps have the theory that one spot goes to Marth and then the other spot goes to the most recent/relevant/coming up next Lord. How irritated would y'all be if Ike was replaced with Chrom? (with a very similar but potentially renovated moveset)

Not counting the remakes, both Marth and Ike are at least acknowledged (sans DLC) in 3 games of the series a piece; albeit Ike's mention is much smaller in comparison to Marth's.

Last bit to chew on, is that thus far, we do not have enough data to give us a "pattern" of how Sakurai and the team will choose Fire Emblem characters. To make it real short,

- Melee
Marth joins due to fan demand
Roy joins as a quick clone add in (it was almost Leif)

- Brawl
Marth returns again as Mr. Fire Emblem
Roy is planned, but scrapped in favor of other characters (most likely Sonic)
Ike as per Intelligent Systems' suggestion

Does that look like a "pattern" to you? Because if it does, please point it out to me. I actually would be okay with any FE reps at all, but it was fun writing this much. At the end of the day, I'm looking forward to whomever reps FE in Smash 4.

Well I believe in Sakurai, he is a smart developer, if he had to remove characters he needs to remove clones first, that would be a smarter move...
