I can't wait to play this iteration of Ike, I loved playing Ike back in vBrawl and in PM. With that being said I will be the happiest man alive if Ike can jump out of QD (and by extension wall jump out of QD) and/or have a better shield/OoS options.

Saw someone on stream do grab release (facing edge) to walk off fair, looked pretty legit. Thoughts?

Which stage is Ike's best?

Drac's or GHZ
The music on GHZ is just too good so I have to give the edge to GHZ although I love both those stages. For a while I was undefeated in tourney on GHZ until DVD wiped the floor with me with his Toon Link, so I have a lot of fond memories of GHZ:grin:. Plus there is nothing more rewarding than going deep with a walk off fair and wall jumping my way back to the stage to the tune of the original Green Hill Zone track.

While we're on the topic of secondary characters, does anyone have any recommendations on a secondary to compliment Ike?

Spacies/Lucas, Mario, and Toon Link are all really good secondaries for Ike. Basically fast small characters with projectiles. I actually secondary ROB though.

Anyone going to CEO?
I was planning on it, but recently moved into a new place so $$ is a bit tight right now.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll probably check out TL since I can't stand spacies and I'm not really feelin Lucas or Mario.

I've never felt I needed a secondary though I know how to play multiple characters. I am currently learning Pikachu but that is more because I feel Pikachu is a top tier character no one bothers to use rather than having any problem matchups with Ike. Right now the only reason I pick any character other than Ike is because I know my opponent has a mental block while fighting that character and I know how to play that character well.

Ike can handle most of the cast, but I feel like he has issues with the following:

a) Mewtwo
b) Falco
c) Pit
d) Lucas

MK seems like the best of the characters I can play to handle these guys.

I would not put MewTwo up there. MewTwo feels like he is about abusing his opponents movement, but if you can read his teleports you can play a much safer game. Shadow balls aren't fast enough to be a major issue like Falco's laser. I have no idea about Pit since I've only played a Pit once. Lucas is all about not getting hit and out spacing with fair since nothing out spaces fair.

Were you the one who setup this pranked thing? How long does it last?

Lucas is definitely a bad matchup for Ike I think. Him and Falco are the biggest offenders.

Lucas is only bad if you get hit. If you play safe it is even. Don't forget that Lucas is very susceptible to Ike's edge guards.

IMHO Ike and Lucas have very good punish games on each other (UThrow wrecks Lucas pretty badly at low %s), but his PK Freeze, ground mobility, and shield pressure give Lucas the advantage in the neutral game; it's not only a matter of "don't get hit", but it's also "don't get stuck in shield".

I'm curious if it's possible to air dodge out of a PKfreeze if the Lucas doesn't follow up quickly enough

So, everyone remember Spidermad's video on C-Dashing and other P:M Mobility techs? This one?

So, I started experimenting around with C-Dashing as Ike, and I just decided to mash down on the C-Stick while running forward and seeing what would happen...I think Ike actually runs faster using repeated C-Dashing. Someone check me on this one, cause I don't really have a good way to measure which is faster (Running vs C-Dashing).

1 month.

imo ike should be in mario kart
The series should be renamed to Ike Kart. Mario can be a special guest.

Pranking is the strangest feature ever. The fact that it is has gotten me so curious about probably means it has worked though.

He probably does due to the quickness of the beginning of the dash but the application of that is pretty much useless due to the fact that you can just qd when you need speed which allows you to act out much faster than c dashing spamming.

C dashing is an interesting tech that I haven't found a real use for in a match. I think it could be really good though, as it extends Ike's dash dance range

Hey what's up guys? I'm a new-ish (been playing since November but only been to two events) player from Chicago. I've been pretty wishy washy about mains until I landed on Ike. He's the truth. I'm probably really bad, but I've been lurking around here and watching a lot of you guys play, so I like to think I have a decent grasp on Ike at least. But I'm still in the learning process, and I hope to be going to more tournies and fests soon to get some practice and maybe recordings for you guys to tear apart.

Also, I'm going to be going to EXP, so @ metroid1117 metroid1117 here's looking at you. Teach me how to Ike!

Anyway, just wanted to intro myself to the Ike mains around here. Carry on fighting for your friends, lads.

Welcome to the scene, Shazam :). I couldn't go today, but I'm going to try to go next week for Evo practice. Hopefully I'll see you there!
