As a product of the American public school system, I feel comfortable saying that a lot of my classmates viewed the world as this:

I say that without malice because I don't think it was entirely their fault. I saw teachers give up on students when they asked questions, and then they just told them to go copy someone else's answers. Yeah, that was my high school. No wonder no one knows anything.

If you came out of the American system and know a lot about the world, you either went to a good school or looked up information on your own. In either case, I'd call you the exception rather than the rule.

The Democratic People's Republic of North Korea (Yes, that's it's official name) is the one that is trying to blow us off the face of the earth. The Republic of Korea (or South Korea) is our ally. The US has military bases there... I lived at one for 2 years. So yeah, I can find it on a globe in about 1.3 seconds. I take longer to find some tiny, more obscure countries, but not much longer... Interesting game... kind of... sort of... a little... not really
