I can't beat a sonic!

Lawl, actually I can easily, but the thing is I feel like I'll get ***** if i don't spam tornado. What other moves are good vs a sonic?

Pretty much anything. You outprioritize him everywhere, so if you can space the attack, you should use it. Ftilt and Dtilt will work when grounded. Use the nair and fair while airborne, shuttle loop him out of his Up-B combos. If you shield a dash attack and he ends up behind you, Dsmash out of shield will punish.

Seriously, it's a very easy matchup once you adjust your spacing to his ridiculous speed.

Yeah, I believe he beat sethlon in a set.

Seriously, sonic's speed is very tricky. MK's range an priority are definitely superior, but sonic is so fast and dodgy. I believe nado is the only reason MK is listed as having an advantage. I really believe nado makes a huge difference in this matchup.

I strongly disagree with you about nado being the only reason MK is listed as having an advantage... It makes it EASIER to just be able to spam Nado so much, but even if MK were banned from using his Nado, he'd still trump Sonic with his attack speed, priority, range, counterpicks, and survivability.

Besides, Sonic is probably one of the few characters who are fast enough to, if shield is properly released as soon as you retreat a nado after shielding, dash attack and, possibly grab you out of your tornado's falling/ending lag.

Tornado is like, the least of Sonic's problems in this matchup. Unless you're online, because it needs proper timing to punish that lol.

As for grounded shuttle loop/ledge shuttle loop, if you miss or get your rise shielded, Sonic can and will outprioritize your glide attack with F-air or any of his aerials (say, shield>sh/fh f-air out of shield)


Oh yeah, and according to Overswarm, you can spam D-tilt against Sonic (which is outranged by his F-tilt/F-smash) and win. :l

in reality, you're better off spacing with aerials lol.

Ground games are generally pretty easy to punish with Sonic (...runs, pshieldgrabs, spin cancels/baits, even dash attack to at least throw you off balance), so you wanna take advantage of his lower aerial speed/acceleration/'aerial priority' by staying in the air.

No. It's that you're approaching too much and getting your azz dodged. When he's trying to approach you, punish him. He can't approach and run away at the same time.

Yeah, aerials. Tornado isn't that great. Offstage game isn't that great either.

Don't ever listen to anything Overswarm says about this match-up.

Somebody's forgetting Falcon.
And actually other characters that people don't consider because I can guarentee you haven't tested ****, and there are characters with worse priority than Sonic that you're going to completely ignore through sheer bias/laziness.
That and Sonic has ways to get around the priority 'problem' ****, cancelling approaches and ****. At least address real issues if you're wanting to help someone out.
Fairs are the right way to go though. It's down to the general easiness to spam them effectively and you can't really punish them well that ***** him like ****.

dont listen to anything OS says about sonic in general, as a matter of fact, a lot of the SBR is either biased or ignorant of sonic

Pretty much any of your moves would be good to use against a Sonic.

I don't know, maybe practice playing a Sonic WITHOUT using the Tornado at all in a match. Once you feel comfortable about using MK's other moves, you'll be able to incorporate them with the Tornado again. Never rely just on the Tornado.
