Gonna break the chain of fast paced music and say I listen to Nujabes, Onra, and Ta-Ku's 25 Nights for Nujabes album. The slower pace reminds me to be more patient with the neutral game and songs involving pianos always keep me from getting too flustered when I play.
Trust me, not all metal is fast paced. Metal has some of the greatest ballads and my favorite piano/keyboard parts to any song. I can't say anything about anyone else though, since I've never even heard of any of the bands listed (other than Bullet for my Valentine).

I decide to merge the music discussion to the general discussion since a few of you have made some post on this subject.

I personally prefer anything with a fast steady beat with very little vocals or at least any that I can understand >__< so trance and techno is what I listen to mainly.

edit: I don't have any bands I listen to.

Hey guys, I'm just that lurking scrub that was in the corner ^.^
Anyways, I have a couple questions, I hope I'm in the right place.
Apparently, I have a tendency to get stuck wall clinging at the edge, even on stages like Battlefield. It gets pretty annoying and I have to either get punished there if I don't react fast enough to getting stuck, or i have to wall jump BF or vanish back on stage depending if I already burnt my BF or not. Any tips for avoiding that awkward position?
I also seem to have a bad habit when I use vanilla sheik to not use needles unless they're fully charged, and then I kinda just forget they exist for a decent time. How should I practice not using a full set of needles?
Lastly, does each separate needle that hits affect the stale move negation queue? Like if I hit all 6 needles it will take up 6 new spots and refresh a decent chunk of the queue.
Thanks, I hope to be spending more time on smashboards learning to not be trash ^.^

Edit: Oh yeah, is it just me just being terrible, or do some moves have slightly different launch angles from 3ds to wii u? One prominent example for me is not being able to link dthrow nair for falcon on my 3ds. I don't have a wii u ;-;

Speaking of trance Tristan_win, are you an Armin van Buuren type of guy or an every now and again Deadmau5 kinda guy.

Listening to the game music (while it's great music) doesn't put me in a fighting mood, I've either got to have something that gives me rhythm or something that gets me pumped up. Like for rhythm I've got Deadma5 - Jaded playing on my track list right now.

I like nujabes and taku too (RIP jun seba). Mostly listen to hip hop while playing. Gonna check out k.dot's new album, to pimp a butterfly when i get back. Any other sheik main hip hop heads? As far as electric type music.. been really feelin EPROM lately.

I am in such a minority. Everyone here listens to hip hop while I just can't stand it. It's very odd how people can have such vast differences in musical preference.

I'm not a fan of hiphop really either, I have nothing against it, it's just not my cup of tea. I however, can not stand country or religious music, and unfortunate for me... I live in the south where both those are everywhere...

I personally enjoy OLD country. Not new country but artists like Hank Williams Sr. I really don't like religious music either, which is unfortunate because I go to church almost weekly.

see, old country is different, I don't even consider it country I consider it classics. Stuff like Johnny cash and the likes deserve to be heard by everyone. I know it's a little arbitrary but meh.

Speaking of music, @@_Tree what is the music from this video I've been looking all over and can't find that variation.
I always state what music I used in the description, so you can have a look there to find what you need (I'm also unsure which piece you're referring to).

It wasn't the song by Adrisaurus or the Yoko Kanno in the beginning, It was the song being played while demonstrating what percents the bouncing fish works at. Sorry if it's common knowledge that I'm just overlooking however.

EDIT: Nvm, I can't read lol. I thought it was a zelda theme for some reason.

I would generally recommend heading over to this thread for such questions: http://smashboards.com/threads/new-...lp-with-sheik-ask-your-questions-here.381558/

But I'll answer them here anyway.
1. I've had similar problems with wall clinging in the past. There's no real trick to it, it just involves being mindful of the edge and wary of your surroundings. If you're getting stuck on the wall after detaching from the ledge, a way to remedy that is to hold slightly back every time you fall. I'd suggest just practicing moving around off-stage and around the walls, just so you know the area you can go without wall-clinging.

2. Single needles are good for jarring opponents, as well as stuffing up any kind of specific input they'll need to do. Character that excel in rushdown get torn up by single needles (Sonic, ZSS), as their main method of approach, dashing, is nullified by needles. Using single needles for this allow you to do this quickly and without charging up anything. Another example of their use is hitting Fox/Falco during the start-up of their Up-B. Normally they don't expect to be interrupted, so hitting them with a single needle can sometimes land you a cheese kill as they fall to their unexpected demise.

3. This...is unknown to me, but I most likely assume that each individual needle does not affect the queue. Obviously you can see the balance issues that would occur if they did, and I would like to think that Sakurai and his team were smart enough to prevent that.

That sig is from a Brawl ladder match where someone tried to be disrespectful game 1 with a Jiggs pick and lost, so I had to preserve the salt for all to see.

what is the ladder exactly, been meaning to get into it but never have. Does the system put you with someone around your skill level (rating or w/e it uses) and then play online?

The smash ladder site is pretty nice, there are ratings for competition and then there are for fun matches which don't. but it lets you choose who you fight.

If you're asking if you're fighting someone random based on their rating, the answer is a no though.

DISCLAIMER, God knows i've been wrong in the past, but if i'm wrong now please don't hold it to me. just answering to the best of my ability.

It all depends on the site you do it on I guess, but Smashladder is probably the better one out there. You're not really paired up based on ratings at all. It's more of a you see people who are trying to do ranked matches and you send a request or you just reverse the roles and put out an invite.

So I have started to actually play smash 4 like its competetive, and Shiek was really easy to get good at. One problem... HOW THE HELL DO I GET KILLS. Do I use her fish thing? I try using upsmash or fair to gimp, but its always really difficult. Any tips on how to get dem kills? Its not like I can't im just inconsistent, and sometimes they get to like 175% before I kill.

Sheik is not really easy to get GOOD with her. She starts off pretty simple but she has a steep learning curve as soon as you want to learn all he ATs.

However, to answer your question, gimping is Sheik's best option for killing. Bouncing fish and the sweetspot of her USmash kill as well. Another kill move, although not too easyto hit with, is the first hitbox of her Vanish.

Thanks for that. I found gimping the most effective tool for KOs overall. As a Fox Melee main, I am no stragnger to gimping. Any tricks for aiming the bouncing fish? Thats really why I haven't used it much yet, I havent figured out good ways to use it. Do you have links to any videos showing me ways to bouncing fish like im actually good?

Fthrow to bouncing fish is a b&b combo that works from 0% to ~60% on most characters with a bunch of exceptions. Setting up Bouncing Fish kills is a bit tricky tho.. you can do sour spot falling nair -> bouncing fish or needles from a full hop to bouncing fish. (in the video, it's the first kill, although that's a bit too flashy. normally you'd do full hop, immediately throw needles as you do the full hop and then follow it by a bouncing fish)

Or you could just catch them with a bouncing fish off-stage although most good players will see it coming.

Airplane food is mediocre. It's not exactly bad, but not good either, but I guess it does the job of being convenient and easy to eat.

They usually got really nice dessert tho

I'd like to add a bit more to the BF thing, honestly we have a crap ton of setups into BF. I'll just list them below for everyones sake, not all are true as well and I'll mention what it relies on.

F-throw>BF (True at low into mid % on the majority of cast, past 50 starts to get unreliable)
D-throw>BF (Airdodge read, short distance variant)
Autocancel Fair>BF (Techchase, mistimed tech, can true combo if done immediately at certain %)
Autocancel W-Nair>BF (Techchase, mistimed tech, can true combo if done immediately at certain %)
Autocancel W-Bair>BF (Techchase, mistimed tech, can true combo if done immediately at certain %)
Rising Storm (fullhop needles) >BF (True combo, was told it's not the other day but I think that was bull)
Any Techread>BF (Lol read them rolls)

I've seen Dair>BF done and I've done it once but it's super odd and shouldn't work like ever lol.

Some more little tidbits on BF
You can shorten or increase the length just by holding the stick in the direction you want
You can press either A or B to make the active hitbox come out sooner
You can hit an opponent with one BF twice if you hit them towards a wall and they miss the tech
You can cancel all lag on hitting an opponent by pressing A or B as soon as possible on the rebound
Your Legs Hurtbox is super intangible during this move and it can do some stupid stuff, such as hitting ledge from below.

For @ 7upjawa 7upjawa some extra tips on killing, Usmash will tipper a large portion of the cast even while grounded if you hyphen-usmash, and since you're playing sheik expect smarter players to last til' 150%+. Just keep combo'ing and learn the tipper d-tilt>DJ u-Air string as it's amazing. It's one of our few strings that kill at 90-100 and it's wonderful, credits to @Virgman. Who's totally a scrub playing fox now, hope your ears bleed out mate. :p and last bit, look up trumping and practice it as it gives us so many cool options such as trump>getup>Vanish.

Best of luck!

wait BF has intangibility on the legs during the kick? I swear my friend beat it out with samus's utilt, maybe I'm just a scrub and can't remember matches properly, but I am pretty sure I was kicking

Yeah, sounds like he was just well spaced but you can do a quick inefficient test of the intangibility by going into training and bf'ing a Bomb-omb. Do it, just trust me you'll laugh. I've seen it straight up gone through stuff to hit someone with it and it also makes our hurtbox incredibly small.
