Might be showing up around here more. ^_^ Avoided it at first because a lot of the other boards are kind of goofy right now, but the Sheik boards seem fairly organized.
Thank you!

and please do. For how organize we are we are serving less then a dozen active posters. Having more tournament going players would definitely be much appreciated.

Hey everyone, I saw that the Rosalina boards made a general "What stages are good for our character" thread, and I realized I'm not actually sure what stages are good and bad for Sheik. I feel like most stages generally aren't bad, honestly, but I'd still like to get everyone else's thoughts as well. From what I've seen, Lylat is pretty good (platform heights are great for Fair strings and Usmash, and lips don't mess up Sheik's recovery nearly as much as many others. On the other hand, Kongo makes it much more difficult to kill. What are everyone else's thoughts, and also should we make a general thread for this?

We need to play for sure. Were two of like, four sheik mains in kentucky lol
I only knew of us and Joey lol. Don't really think of Judo yet since he doesn't enter anything to my knowledge.

Np ^_^ Also yeah more tourney goers makes exchanging ideas and experiences godlike for advancing a character. :D

EDIT: To the stage thing, I prefer SV and T&C most of the time, because it seems like they have small boundaries and having a platform offstage makes it nice to relieve pressure at times. I reallly don't like Kongo Jungle, because it feels really hard to approach someone who is in the sloped area and we can't make them approach anymore with needle camping. I also just don't like it due to it being a platform stage and how my up-b will sometimes miss the ledge on platform stages. Just a few things that are just my opinion on things tho.

As far as stages go, I'm really not a fan of Delfino. Other top characters have it a bit easy coming from under the stage, while Sheik has few viable options for covering that stuff (I'm looking at you, Sonic).

Also, I played some friendlies today at Paragon and played Falcon for ****s and gigs. Despite understanding Sheik more, I perform better with the Cap. What do? :/

I kind of view Falcon a lot like Sheik honestly with the consistency of his throw followups. Just with a worse recovery and neutral game, but better hitboxes and kill power.

Oh lord I saw some bad hitboxes on attacks from Sheik at Paragon today. Watched both Wizzrobe and MasterRaven's sets and things weren't connecting that definitely should have. I think Raven had a fair that straight up went through an opponent and Wizz had a bouncing fish that connected but didn't actually connect.

And at least with Falcon I won't accidentally side-b and plummet to my death. :|

lol I played against a guy on for glory who changed his name to "LOL SHEIK" after I won against him with my Sheik; played Greninja the next game and I think he switched to his main (Captain Falcon) because he was playing significantly better with that one rather than the character he used first, which I forgot who. Still won. poor guy left afterwards.

I didn't know some people change their names like this to "send messages" lol, I spent the next 10 minutes just laughing about it.

Oh that reminds me, I played against this guy named Walnut in for glory for about 40 matches. I don't think he ever won a match but holy hell he went from doing one thing the entire match to actually reading my di and applying combos I used on him at the end... Never seen someone adapt so much so quickly. It probably helped I played almost every character on the cast against him before playing sheik. Poor guy got two stocked at the end, and when I tried to play sheik again just sd'ed twice and left... Shame too because I really was enjoying our matches. :S Sheik feels too good sometimes.

Yeah I've had people do that to me as well, it's a bit silly. What's also funny is when people try to outplay your Sheik in a ditto only to get 2 stock because they have no idea what the **** they are doing. Thankfully not everyone is like that, I've had some really nice players change their tag to 'GG' before leaving. Which interesting enough you can see in the waiting room.

People like that I like to add to my friend list though the previous played selection if the lag isn't too polarizing.

Yeah I've had a guy that I played really good matches against change his name to GG once, it's a nice gesture indeed.

I must say. In Melee, most Sheik players never used Down Special, because that just transform. So that left him in the fight with one less game option. And still, managed to become a top tier viable character.

In Brawl, most stuff are pretty much the same. Just the physiq of the game killed him slightly.

Now in this game, oh dearest me. Giving Sheik a new move instead of transformation, suddenly gave him a whole new world of killing options. A safe, disjointed kill move, and a edge-guard black hole bomb. Though, people rarely uses the latter one.

I must say, I'm impressed how one simple skill gave him so much more power than he used to have already.
Lovely.

I'm having trouble with fair to bouncing fish. I **** it up more than I care to admit, leaving me wondering if I should just continue to fair or apply pressure by controlling the space on the edge of the stage.

tbh I also have trouble with that. Sometimes I get to work, but most of the time it doesn't, so I just usually stick with the fair followups.

False told me to trick to it is that you have to land as you hit the fair. I also sometimes get it just by catching people off guard if a fair sends them at that distance anyways.

Can we discuss back throw a bit?

Forward throw is what it is, we are all familiar with that.
Down throw can combo into Uair, and sometimes Vanish....
But back throw has an interesting feel to it. To me, it seems that back throw is a better option for a Bouncing Fish followup.

I haven't properly tested it, but playing around with it so far has given me this impression, so I thought I would put it out there.

You can catch people with bthrow -> BF if they aren't expecting it, but that's sort of the extent of it to my knowledge. I've even gotten fair followups and what not if people DI improperly. The only use I see for it is DI mixups and just to get someone offstage/to get positional advantage.

Ayyyy question I had about one of the ATs I saw in the AT directory, does the ledge stealing thing with the nade time it to where the guy you knock off the ledge gets hit by the nade's hitbox or does it just limit options?

limit options. ive never bounced them off into it at the correct timing. i suppose it depends how much you fall with it?

kk So pretty much if you get the timing down for trump -> bair there's really no reason to do it except to be flashy and demoralize players who think it's doing more?

trump > bair is honestly absurd

also the more i play, the more i like burst grenade

I've been having moderate success with grenade > dash grab

I like to use it as an edge guard and just use raw vanish in case they try to attack me after the nade is out. I love fire works on the ledge.

The grab thing kind of just works on people who respect the nade too much. The only time I ever get a use out of it is to lock someone down on the ledge, but I might try experimenting with that sponge nade stuff more.

Penetrating needles are AMAZING. Throw 3 needles at them, eat their shield, and run up vanish. I'd like to see them shield that.
