I tend to mess around with jab... i spent almost a whole 4 hours messing with a CF that tends to spam Raptor boost and i would just wack him back with the simple press of A... yes i messed up a few times but thats beside the point...

Im asking if marths jab has any uses against aggresive players and the like and i just wonder how many marths thought about sitting there and taping "A" during situations like "Waddle dee spam" or " Mortar slide" and the like...

If i feel my opponent is too close to me I'll just throw out a few jabs to get them back out (if up b isn't safe). It's marth's closest range option and is fast, effective and relatively safe.

It depends on what character I'm playing against. If it's sosmeone like Luigi, I'll use it to stop theier aerial approach, since it's a bit safer than the ftilt. I only use the first jab though.

I'm just your problem~
I like to fan a bit when my opponent gets too cocky with his approach. He's forced to retreat for a second, and I work better with Marth when I'm chasing rather when I'm defending. It's also easier for me to defend against projectiles by walking and jabbing rather than shield dashing (I habit I picked up with Sonic).

For me, it's my "I'm not safe enough to dolphin slash nor do I have the time to ftilt to put some space between me and my opponent" option. I use it to create space, or to stop an assault that I don't have time to stop with ftilt. Usually if they're close enough for me to use it, I use two jabs because after that it's obvious and people tend to punish you for any more than that.

i use it after an autocanceled fair to stop a shield grab sometimes. other than that just to reset spacing when someone gets within my comfort zone.

I'll use it as a quick attack just to throw out there as a mixup if my opponent is too close. I also like to use grab release=> jab sometimes.
you have much better options off of the grab release than a jab...

I use jab a lot more now because it comes out frame 4 and ***** so many of your opponent's options while being safe on block, and having a follow-up ready if necessary, because you can throw a second one right after. I prefer it vastly over ftilt, though I'm starting to use that more too. It just stops people from being in your face.

I like Ftilt more than Jab because it kinda ***** SH approaches. Except like a Zair or something.

And Bengals it is character dependent what you can get away with out of a grab release, just look at the EarthBounders.

Jab is actually very similar to the ftilt. Basically by jabbing your sacrificing range for speed. Pierce7d mentioned being able to follow with the second part of the jab. Plus at very close range you can jab twice and the first jab spaces for a tipped 2nd jab. Basically by damage, the 2 jabs equal a ftilt.

I love the jab in terms of mixups, you can literally jab, dtilt, first hit dancing blade, jab, until they either drop their shield and eat a dancing blade or tilt, or they can roll behind you which allows a free hit if your prepared for it.

The jab has shield pushback as well, so you dont have to worry at all about being grabbed, even by dedede or charizard.

Yeah, perfectly spaced, the jab is also safe on block, and really comes out when you need it. If they roll dodge, chase and reset. If they shield, pester the shield. If they spot dodge, then the second jab or another move connects. It's pretty safe, and easy to follow up. For most circumstances, it's a faster, weaker dtilt, that also has protection against aerial approaches.

Eh, jab is the safest option, Dancing Blade is the most balanced option (not hyper punishable, but if it's shielded, you're going to get hit.) and Dolphin Slash has awesome rewards, but huge punishments.

Jabbing is very good here.

if for some reason my opponent is point blank range and i dont have my shield up for a shield grab i might do a jab to put them at d-tilt range but i dont use it much

How well does this work?
pretty well actually, its by no means impossible to be grabbed if you do this, but its stopped tons of shield grabs for me. sometimes they still hold their shield after the fair through the jab, then i still get grabbed.

id recommend at least giving it a try in friendlies

If my opponent is at point blank range, I usually will dash backward and pivot Dancing Blade. They'll miss a grab and get hit. Don't forget retreating Fair and Bair is also a good move here, and that you can jump out of shield.

Time to start working on that pivot dtilt again.

a hard landing (you always get a hard landing when fast falling) will give you 4 frames of landing lag + 4 frames for the jab to comeout. since the jab is probebly buffered they have 8 frames to shield grab you.

not only is it my Space creator, it gives me the satisfaction of waking someone in the face 2-4 times. I like Jab into DTilt/FTilt/DB sometimes
