So lately I've been using Freeze glitch'd characters to practice techs and spacing, but it always takes me too long to set up, because I suck balls with Ice Climbers.

I was wondering, if I kept the game paused, how long could my Gamecube continue to have Smash up before it crashed?

My room is relatively cool, stays at a nice 65-70 during the day, and I close the blinds before I go out so that there isn't much sunlight that gets into my room to heat it up unnecessarily.

I don't see why the Cube would freeze on you for being on for so long paused.

I just want to know what approximately is the upper limit here. If I keep it paused when I'm not using it and use it an average of 2 hours a day, around how long should it last(even a range would be nice). I want to keep it on indefinitely, but I don't think I can really do that, even though Nintendo consoles are pretty robust.

I've seen gamecubes on for at least a week on end with no physical problems.

back when i played pso religiously there were periods of time where my gamecube would never, ever be turned off for several months at a time.

I still own said pso copy, and the same gamecube. both work flawlessly.

This. Real men reach level 200.

EDIT: Yeah, rock, I did the same thing with no problems. Gamecubes simply don't break.

I used to leave my cube on for weeks and months at a time, only turning it off to take it to tournaments. Then it developed lots of disc read errors and i had to buy a new one.

I left it on in training mode for a day, I came back home to find it on the screen you find when you start the game.

Is that supposed to happen?

I leave my pc, laptop, ps2, and gamecube on for obscene amounts of time. Weeks, on average.

Just as an FYI, PCs function better the less you power them on/off. The hardware is extremely sensitive to heat and if you keep the PC on for long periods of time, the machine stays at a constant temperature for a longer period of time.

This, although it was with one of the very old, original gamecubes, so they might have fixed it since then, but leaving it on for days at a time is, I'm guessing, what caused mine to wear and tear so quickly. I doubt Nintendo designed it for literally days to weeks of constant use.
