First off they already patented a very similar system back in 2006 for the ps3 and never used it. Both Sony and Microsoft have patents that involve pausing your game with an ad until you speak the ad (like say McDonalds). Neither put these into action because it would be suicide.

They already have a system like this in place but it works far better, it's called the Playstation Network Store. Disc based restrictions that literally burn data off of a disc are stupid because it's an installation limit and when people have to replace their system they won't want to replace their software, so they just won't replace anything.

The worst offense anyone has right now between the big three is Xbox Live being pay to use and yet you don't get dedicated servers. That is some major *** bull****. Also I really hate ads on the dash/xmb. A lot.

I think doing it in the manner they proposed would get them sued and lose them lots of business. If you want to see an effective way of cutting out used sales, look at Steam.

Edit: Also you're absolutely out of touch with reality if you think someone patenting something means they are going to use it. Real world doesn't work that way.

Woa, thats unfortunate imo. Long distance relationships are rarely worth the trouble. Then again, ya'll apparently have money to fly around to play video games so maybe it won't be so bad.

Long Distance relationships usually suck. They're nice at first, then usually things go downhill. I've tried it a couple times. Wasn't worth it.

However, that doesn't mean they can't work out. I know of two people who met at some sort of convention thingy, and didn't live anywhere near each other at all, and one of them moved to be with the other and they've been together for years now.
