Why the sudden change?

i would give you a plus but im no longer a moderator. lol. but anyway guys. i have a confession. i recently went to this FAST tournament as you all know and i am very down about it and myself. my pika was so good and i got so many compliments on how good it was, but yet, when it came time to place i couldn't handle the pressure. it really annoys me how finess we pika players are but because pika is so easy to kill it makes him lower tier. someone can pika up MK or snake and master them in a day. pika takes finess and lots of practice. i am thinking about changing my main to snake or DDD. it just seems that to place in a tourney you must use MK, snake, DDD, wolf, wario, R.O.B., or olimar. if any of you guys read the marth threads then you are familiar with emblem lord. if you arent go there and read EL's Emo moment(stickied). i am feeling what he was feeling about pikachu. i can't seem to write about matchups right now since i am so distracted with my pika. i just cant help but feel as if pika will not be anything ever to be hyped up about.

I am sorry Boom. my internet for some reason has started crapping out at night. From what i could tell through the lag, I am going to give you a +. We need to fight again though more towards the day lol. Anyone know why the internet would get worse later at night? could continous use slow it down?

Edit: Gallax dont get so down on yourself. Look at anther- he is ominating with pika. we just need to learn to fight with pika, which imo requires heavy mindgames-if you ever play anther you will know what i mean. just learning the combos and moves arent enough. you have to heavily bait and predict their actions and strike when they are out of position. just hang in there lol.

Hmm...I felt the same way when i was using Yoshi in tournaments. As you all know, Yoshi's are rarely seen in tournaments. I as well had gotten many compliments, but never placed high. Angry that I have put so much time into this character but could never win, I tried to main some HIGH TIER character. But i found out in the end that i only enjoyed this game if i used the character that i chose to use, accepting its flaws, weaknesses, even if it was Bottom Tier. The feeling of actually doing well with Pikachu or Yoshi against Snake or Metaknight gave me confidence.

I'm sorry you feel that way, but its people like you who go to tournaments and experience the losses and heart wrenching drama that help us all out...advice and experience can lead the way to a new tomorrow, one with pika not as low tier! I have faith, and while maybe switching mains would be good temporarily, you def. should not disclude pika from your arsenal, since he has some amazing matchups against the top tiers, as well as some even ones...but his unpredicability is what helps pull him through. Yes I have read EL's thread about being emo, lol and while it saddens me, I feel him ( and you), but I think that the chars. people win with come and go, so don't get too down

Yeah, losing in tourneys and any important matches hurt. I lost to about 3 spam noobs and lost my spark for a while. But I just practiced more, and maybe that's what you should do (not insulting your skills in any way)

And don't pick up a higher tier just to win tourneys. I don't respect people like that at all, and alot of people don't. Just stick with your favorites.

And about the last part, we just have to improve Pika's metagame. =)
The Mario boards have made Mario so much better with all of the techniques they've found. We should take a step in that direction.

Well im glad someone agrees. i have tried as much as i can to help pikachus meta game. i haven't analyzed the attacks but thats because i decided to start with the matchups and stage selections. you know what its like trying to get the pika community to respond to these threads? there are only a handful who actually respond a fewer who respond because they have something to say. i have to go to another thread most of the time and be like, hey guys there is a matchup thread started about falco(for example). could you guys post your ideas. sure i could write the thing myself and then have people respond to it...but thats against the point of the amtchup thread that i started. i want an unbiased matchup thread. if i write it solely on my opinions then its more than likely gonna be incorrect. its like pulling teeth on this community. i try my best to help this community and i would appreciate it if more pika players would do the same.
