you know i have been frustrated a lot lately and i feel better about getting things off my chest...but there is still one more thing that botheres me. the pika community has no equivalent to Emblem Lord. sure we have anther, but he never *****ng responds. i jsut read posts by him for the first time in i cant tell you how long. i wanted him to be our pika saviour. our leader. our pika defender in other threads and what not. but he is never on and never responds so ultimatley he cannot be what i would hope for. im sure some feel this way too. truthfully guys, i wanted to be that guy. i wanted to know everything about pika and the matchups and the stage selections and the techniques, but i will probably never have that honor/privelage of being that leader. we need a saviour for pika. i argue for him as much as i can...but people don't really respond well to what i say about pika. i guess what im trying to say is that i feel like i have disappointed everyone and myself at this tournament. i tried so hard to do well to give pika a name. but i freakin choked and whiffed my chances.

Seriously dont be so hard on yourself. you are only human, you cant expect to be perfect and win every tournament, or even expect to place very highly. you said yourself your pool was very hard, and this was a national tournament, with the best smashers coming. Dont worry we are still developing the pika metagame. It may well take a long time before any of us are at a truly high level like Anther, but it can, and i believe will get done. And as for Anther, he looks at everything here, he just doesnt talk much.

Aww Galax really, don't be so hard on yourself. I can't post everything I know about the game and every observation. I'm also in school and working on programming projects almost constantly, and also trying to maintain a sort of social life between my hobbies. You're building a great foundation for playing at a high level with Pikachu, and putting out alot of knowledge for others to learn... the rest of it is applying the knowledge and experimenting with the options the game presents you with and not always worrying about winning. You aren't hard on yourself and you learn a great deal more than grinding away and getting frustrated that what you're doing isn't working. I mean... you're adding a lot to the community, what you're doing is nothing to get down on yourself over. Especially not placing well at one of your first tournaments.

Don't stress out about pushing the character, if you really like playing him just have fun doing just that. Enjoy getting better at the game and learning stuff. If you get to the point where all you're worried about is proving something then you're just going to frustrate yourself to the point of quitting.

I agree with what has been said gallax, don't be so hard on yourself. I for one enjoy debating/discussing pika and stages and matchups and all that jazz with you! I think you are doing a great job, and I know you like EL, and what he does, but just think of everything, like different chars., stages, techniques, basically everything detailwise about brawl, and you wanna cram that into a useful place for people to go? that's awfully noble of you and I think most of us here would be willing to help you not feel so bad about yourself lol but yeah it's late here too, and I need some matches to wake me up, so Kyari, lets go! oh, and I added Pikaville too (though I have no idea the time difference from arizona to europe)

hahah. when i first read this i was like this is the third anther comment in a row. then i saw anther wrote it. it totally threw me off. lol. but anyways, thanks for the support. i still have to finish the olimar AND wolf thread cuz ive been so freaking lazy lately that i havent done anything. time to get back to work. the ROB matchup should be done in like 5 days. im gonna work on the wolf/oli matchup now and it should be done. i got my schedule for work so i am gonna make a schedule for when i am gonna be on to talk about the stages, what characters we will be discussin, etc... I am trying to get prominent members from each character thread to join our stage discussion too(when we talk about their character of course).

another thing that came up at this tourney was team stage selection and NORFAIR as a counterpick. although it was hotmly debated at the tourney that it should be a counterpick it made no difference since it was still used. this is something we should discuss since i think that norfair will be added as a counterpick in the end. ive been watching the counterpick discussion threads and a few days ago there was an argument and almost eveyone like morfair as a counterpick.

And Gallax, I agree with what the others have to say. Esp. Bunny. I look down on people who pick up high-tier chars, just to win tourney's and what not. Your a great Pika, and I'm sure if you keep up the good work, you may turn out to be the next Anther. And thanks for everything you've contributed to the Pika community. Why does Lag hate Piakchu?

Why did Nintendo make Pikachu's recovery so nitpicky. When I am playing a game against the computer or on a no lag connection, I almost always finish my recovery. However, when I am playing on an even slightly laggy connection, the game either does not recognize the second movement because it is delayed so long. Or, it does not recognize the first one and I just go diagonal. Nintendo should have made the recovery a little more flexible because of lag. It pisses me off so much when all I needed was an up revovery followed by ANY over movement. Instead the game misses it completely and I just fall.

I have noticed you flub far more then any of us. what you have to do is train your muscles so that you pull of the qa without relating your movements to what you see, ie. muscle memory. once you get that down you will stop flubbing as much as you do.

if the problem is the game slowing down due to lag that will work. but if it is just pure button lag you still need to train with that. it is the combination that hurts, especially when it changes RIGHT in the middle of QA. that is when i most often mess up.

ya just use the guide in the first post and write down all of your info but i will add u when i get on, and play you when ur ready :D and ya waddle without lag on the quick attack a really good pika can recover from almost anywhere i even suprise myself sometimes....... One of the most satisfying things you can do with pika is an amazing recovery after the opponent taunts and then come back and kill him i love it!

I would have to agree, it feels awesome to come back while the opponent is taunting and get them off guard. Then YOU taunt, annoying them even more.
