Sakurai did an incredible job with all the Persona 5 content. Lack of Life will Change notwithstanding, I couldn't ask for a more perfect package. I really love how Joker plays and will definitely be my Ultimate main (sorry Richter and Ike!)

Honestly, this all still feels so surreal

In any case, I think we can look forward to Mexican standoffs between :ultbayonetta: and :ultjoker: mains. Should be more interesting than the double Bayos fiasco that happened at one particular event.

Edit: Fun, because it's true.

It's even funnier when you consider the likelihood of Smash getting more PlayStation related characters, especially if DLC goes beyond this Fighters Pass.

What other PlayStation related characters would you guys like to see?

From what I can grasp, Joker is very accurate that's for certain. As in P5 your meleeing isn't great unless you get a critical and gun isn't always reliable but both of these tools get the job done. And of course accurate to the game your Persona will most likely be your saving grace in combat. Joker is fast and nimble though in P5 while he is very acrobatic you're not really jumping around as much as you think you might be. I'm guessing this style implemented into Smash is intentional and if I'm right, I absolutely love that.

This is a little out there, but personally I'd like Haseo from .hack//G.U.

Crash Bandicoot would be the big one and might be one of the more semi-realistic ones to see in even just the regular Fighter's Pass at this point if Sakurai decides to work with Activision. Spyro would be the second character to see from them specifically (and we can just pretend Ridley counts for him if need be lol).

While she's not my preferred Square Enix pick (And pretty low on the list of priorities for me personally), Lara Croft would still be really cool to see in Smash and she's definitely another major icon. Tomb Raider doesn't have the BEST history with Nintendo though. Similarly, if we went further with Square, Sora would definitely be a partial Playstation icon to see inclusion.

There's also a decent chance of another Capcom representative. Resident Evil has lots of specific Nintendo history and Joker just pushed the boundaries of guns further, plus Leon Kennedy is back in the focus again with the Resident Evil 2 remake, so you could potentially have hi coming over. Dante would also be another Playstation icon of the PS2 era.

I'd honestly love to see any of them, but Crash and probably Dante are the two that I'd be more interested in seeing. But I also want Lara Croft alongside Crash just to prove that Smash Bros has become the definitive place for Playstation All-Stars of the PS1 era lol.

At this point, I truly feel in my bones the Fighters Pass is going to have a Resident Evil character.

Crash is definitely who I see as the most likely and profound PlayStation rep to get in, considering Crash was such definitive mascot for the PS1. It would almost be like the reveal of Sonic all over again, although the rivalry between Mario and Crash was not as iconic. I just hope a Crash reveal trailer would combine these two commercials in a way.

It would just feel right.

Almost forgot, aside from Haseo I'd like Sora, 2B, and I really want Kat from Gravity Rush. I feel like Kat would be super unique plus the more playable girls in Smash the better in my opinion.

Also, on the topic of Joker, I'm really enjoying both him and Mementos. Spent a decent amount of the past 24 hours just getting a feel for Joker and playing on the map. I was afraid he might not feel as good for my playstyle when I first saw him unveiled the night before last, but he fits me much better than I thought he would.

And just the love for Persona in everything related to him makes me oh so happy.

The I'll Face Myself remix was a pleasant surprise; it's kind of a P4 medley. The first thing I did after finally updating the game was check out the new songs and add them to my favorites lol. Joker is fun; he's worth learning and I'm glad he doesn't seem... overtuned, for lack of a better word.

As far as Playstation-esque reps go, I think Heihachi from Tekken seems likely. Here's why:

-Nintendo's friendly relationship with Namco Bandai, and the latter's involvement with Smash.

-Tekken's popularity and influence on the 3D fighting game genre. It's an iconic and relevant fighter that rivals Street Fighter.

-Sakurai considered him in the past, but found him too difficult to implement. It's a new game, so chances are, he can work around it by now (see: Ridley, e.g.)

-His Mii costume is suspiciously absent.

-His Japanese VA died; it'd be a good tribute.

-He's already crossed paths with Ryu and Ken (and he has a history with Akuma), a Final Fantasy rep, a Metal Gear character, and he's literally been in the same game as Link. Aside from that, he fights robots, kangaroos, dinosaurs, ninjas, etc. on the regular; he'd fit perfectly in Smash. It helps that he's already been in a game where he beat up characters dressed like Mario, Peach, Samus, etc.

GEESE.

Oh and he was rivals with Toro the cat in PSABR

My favorite thing about all of this is online friends who have never played any Persona game coming up to me to ask me about game and lore related things.

I've always wanted an opportunity to flex my random gaming knowledge

I played Smash online yesterday with Joker and I had some good... and bad experiences.
Overall though, I think this character is for me. Joker is immensely fun and satisfying to play as and I hope that I can get better with him over time. I'm just a tad bit frustrated that I can't get into Elite Smash with him.

Just got into Elite Smash with Joker and I just wanna say that he might be the most fun character in the game, moving with him feels great, his combos are tight but rewarding as hell, his recovery isn’t too bad even without Arsene, and Arsene... is pretty busted I’m not gonna lie but I love it. Seriously though, Arsene F-Smash’s range is kind of absurd o.o

He’s definitely gonna stay in my main roster even though I’ve never played Persona 5. (I’m definitely picking it up if the Switch port rumor is true though!) I hope all of you Joker fans are having as much fun with him as I am!

Yeah, I basically got more interested about playing Persona 5 after playing with Joker in Smash too.

I'll see if The Royal turns out to be a new version of Persona 5 or a whole different thing before picking it doh.

So, has anyone managed to get Joker's student spirit yet?

Crash and Spyro, of course. I know that Spike, Sly Cooper, Jak/Daxter and Ratchet/Clank are impossible, so I won't bother with those.

Also, this small fact in the Ultimate Wiki didn't dawn on me until now:
Joker and Richter are the only playable third-party characters to make their fighting game debut in Smash.
That right there is the biggest honor possible.

You know, it still gets me that Jack Frost, who is basically ATLUS' mascot, doesn't even get a spirit. Even Igor got one. I bet even ATLUS was surprised about that decision.

Also, reminder that this is basically a prediction for what happened to the PTs and Igor:

Can someone make a comic about this.
>Takes place a year after the events of Persona 5.
>Akira returns to Tokyo for summer break.
>Reunites with his friends and Sojiro at Leblanc.
>They hang out in Akira's old room like old times.
>Then Sojiro tells them about an emergency broadcast and tells them to hurry down and see it.
>Galeem's rays have reached Tokyo.
>Everyone evacuates LeBlanc as a beam is about to hit Leblanc, Sojiro doesn't make it.
>They hurry to try and find the source of the problem, but are stopped by some puppet fighters.
>Ryuji & Mokoto stay behind and try to fend them off.
>They continue their search for the source of the problem, Some more puppet fighters appear.
>This time Ann, Yusuke, & Haru fend them off.
>Akira, Futaba, and Morgana are the only members of the phantom thieves remaining.
>A beam of light is heading straight for them.
>Futaba and Morgana gets hit.
>Akira sees a blue door, and makes a run for it.
>He successfully escapes from his demise.
>He is now in the Velvet Room.
>Igor & Lavenza welcome him back, and tell him about the situation he's gotten himself in.
>Igor then gives the power of the Persona back to him, along with his old Phantom Thieves outfit.
>A portal appears to the world where Galeem is and Lavenza tells him to hurry.
>Galeems rays have found their way into the velvet room!
>Akira/Joker makes a mad dash towards the portal, he succeeds.
>He appears on a cliffside and sees Kirby.
>He says that he will help him out, because his world was attack by Galeem.
>Kirby agrees and they jump into action!

Joker's fine for me.

He DOES however, need a few tweaks.
Arsene lasts way too long, and for amount of benefits it offers, I'd consider it broken.

He can kill me with a forward smash at the edge of a stage when Im at 55% as Peach. That **** aint right.

Since Joker's academy outfit is a thing in Smash, I hope people will bank on making jokes based on a certain famous scene:

Here's the Playstation All-Stars BR 2 list i made yesterday, this time with more appropriate language:

Blasto's impossible anyway since his VA Phil Hartman died, so there's no point in putting him on the list. Also, who's the lady next to him? I forget.

Let's not knock Nefarious and Lammy though, they'd be neat.

It's Ellen Page's character from that terrible game "Beyond"

Glad to see people are enjoying joker ;)

For those wondering if jane could've been referring to Arsene, it seems the codename for his model is doyle. And like would make sense, is its own model:

( Gentlepanda Gentlepanda dunno if you're still interested but there)
That is SO cool. I assume codenamed after Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Another classic literature reference as well as a Japanese culture reference because of Detective Conan having a rival, the phantom thief Kaito Kid.

Yes it's probably all inspired from those time periods, and the whole Arsene Lupin stuff with sherlock holmes of those times. I dont know the details but it makes sense.

Back on joker, here's some Gun Dash tech. By the way for those that didn't know about the slide, you can do it on stage if you time it right, you dont have to be at the ledge.

This just makes the mystery even deeper. Any word on how Morgana and the rest of the Phantom Thieves were handled programming wise?

Neat. From what I hear this is shaking up Brave speculation a bit, considering how much depth these names have.

No I'd like for datamined info to be easier to find, but their models would be seperate. I'm curious about it too tho, if someone finds something.

As for depth of name, that's just speculation from people who want to find excuses to think that brave would be someone else. If the team had been looking into the lore behind arsene, it was maybe an easy codename for them.
