Looking back at the Spells, I now have so many questions.

1) Can Metal Slash OHKO characters that have picked up the Metal Box?
2) What are all the effects you can get out of Hocus Pocus?
3) What does Sizzle do? We have no idea at all what it does ever since we saw it in the E3 trailer.
4) Are there more spells to choose from besides the ones shown?
5) How much range does Thwack even have?
6) Can Hatchet Man/Critical Hits shield-break?

Hocus Pocus has a lot of different effects in the dq games, but for smash I doubt there's that many. probably mostly buffs or debuffs.
Really interesting to think about tho.

Heyo Hero bros. I'm not sure if I've ever popped in here to say congrats, even though I had been meaning too. So, uh, belated congratulations on getting a DQ character, the series deserves it, I'll be getting DQ11 this September, and all that good stuff. This character looks pretty neat now that we know how they work, though I do wonder how the random elements will impact their competitive viability, for better and for worse. Critical hits seem rage inducing and I could predict early calls for a ban if they happen too frequently (whether said calls are justified or not.), and the random spells seems... not great for consistency obviously. I love chaos characters and in tourneys I could see Hero being picked occasionally, but unless their neutral game is god tier I feel like the lack of consistent spells might mean nobody would be crazy enough to actually try and main them at a tourney (I know some of the DQ fans will just main him anyway, and I respect that. After all, that's what I do with King K. Rool.)

Heh, well, as someone who considers themselves a pretty well read gamer, of course the DQ series has been on my list (I think I even had a spin off Wii title iirc.), I just never had a good jumping on point. But I like my turn based RPGs, and this series pretty much invented them, and a jumping on point is being handed to us Switch only boys on a silver platter, so I have no reason not to check it out now.

(That said it does look like a good game with gorgeous art direction just from what I've seen.)

Most people didn't like Dragon Quest because of the composer most don't like our boys because they have an anime art style and use a sword some don't like us because there pick didn't get in and there mad if they mad because are character is broken well

Does anyone else think Yggdrasil's Altar might be legal if hazards are turned off?

I mean, it looks the right size. The platform position seems just right and even if the battle starts on the ground like the Halberd, it's not a walk-off. I think we might have at worst a counterpick and at best a new stage to add to the pack.

Looking at framedata is a bit silly when he'll be out soon but..
Looks like the command thing appears in 2 frames, hard to tell when you can use it though.
Looks to be around 45 frames to cancel the menu (can still move around during this, just under the assumption you can't bring up a new menu until 45 frames after you shield).

Realistically speaking, The Hero looks like he could be the source of a VERY intense discussion. He has a LOT of powerful moves! I just hope the community accepts him in tournies, because as long as he's legal, he looks like he could be AWESOME in competitive play! ^.^

Happy with the Hero trailer, the spell selection looks fun and is going to be quite fun to play with.

No way. 45 frames is way too much, at least to do other options. But will definitely test how fast open and closing can happen once we get them.

He's nothing like smash 4 bayonetta, his kit outside of specials seems kinda slow and underwhelming
