I haven't even met Riki in-game yet, so I find it hilarious that he calls Shulk his sidekick. XD

Love Riki. Not as much as Reyn or Dunban or... actually, I like all the party members so it's hard to play favorites.

Anyway, best intro scene for a new party member ever.

If you guys want to do those yourselves then this thread has the ripped sfx

Thanks, I was looking for that rip forever!

Also, the fact that they have a rip titled [censored]son is hilarious.

These trailer commentary videos make we wish that the whole party could cameo in Shulk's trailer.
Maybe someone can edit all of them commentating at once....?

I'm like 24 hours into my first playthrough. I'm having a blast just collecting green crystals to create Agility Up IV gems. Is 150 agility the max? I've... already hit it.

Anyway, I just got Riki and I'm feeling quite confused if I should continue with the standard trio of Shulk / Reyn / Sharla. Is it worth it to just switch some characters around? I only rely on Sharla for healing and even then the AI sometimes doesn't want to.
No, 9999 is the max for HP and Auto-Attack. Probably also for every other stat, since I've passed 1k with Strength and Phys/Ether Def sometimes. Gems can only increase a certain amount, though. Like, you can only increase Agility by 50 through Gems. You know you reach this point when the stat boosts on the bottom left (as you equip gems) will turn green, rather than the normal black.

I have a random question, does anyone know how to get the hacked HD version of Xenoblade Chronicles? I already have the Wii version, and I've played it and all, but I really wish the game was HD. And I heard something about being able to use a hack to play the game in HD. Can anyone fill me in on this?

I think you're talking about the Dolphin emulator. I don't think the Wii is capable of playing in HD.

My friend has just informed me that you can hear Shulk say how much he's feelin' it as a taunt in the leaked footage.

Gonna spam that like crazy.

The Wii is hardly capable of playing Xenoblade in standard definition, much less HD. I like to say that Xenoblade is "the best PS3 game for Wii" because it's almost too much for the Wii's hardware to handle

If I remember correctly, I was able to build a new guage using the first one, by simply using the colour thing to make ridiculous combos.
Colour...thing? I might have missed something that allows you to continue combos... but i only had getting an extra shot for an extra attack happen ONCE. Is there a trick to it i missed?

And what the hell is that Pranked! thing? Why is my name pink? D:

I'm glad the voice acting was done in the UK for Xenoblade; it's scary to think what Dunban would sound like with an American voice actor.

I think he means the combinations where you get a multiplier during a chain attack when you use two or more Arts in a row (between different characters) whose icons on the Arts Palette have the same color.

You get the chance to continue chain attacks if your characters' Affinity with each other is high enough.

Huh... Well, then it all depended whether or not I had sufficient affinity with Reyn and Sharla i guess.

So, the way it works is (in slightly more detail):
After the first three attacks in a chain attack, the game randomly gives you the chance to get a new attack in the chain, with the chances increased when the affinity between the last character in the chain and the next is higher. The game makes this "check" for every new attack after the first.

Oh and by the way, use Sharla as your main character when you have her in your party, as the AI doesn't handle her well and will often let her Heat build up to the point where she can't do anything for a while.

Yeah i noticed. Thing is i sometimes had problems with mechons cause occasionally AI Shulk will flat out refuse to use Enchant. Also I'm not sure if he would cast Shield in case of a vision showing one of the bosses instantkill/special attacks. Hence why i find not letting you switch between active party members "on the fly" a relatively poor choice designwise.

Here's hoping they improve the AI in the N3DS port! :4shulk:

Doubtful, but it never bothered me somehow. I always hear people complain about the AI being poor (my brother, who bought the damn copy I beat the game on, still hasn't finished it for this reason) but the Shulk, Reyn, Sharla party I used throughout the entire game never disappointed. Lucky me I guess?

Shulk won't use Monado Shield when a vision with a talent art appears unless you warn him and tell him to use the art himself.

Maybe you're just really good at the game?

Also, how was your affinity with the other party members? Or did you not care about their character development very much?

I didn't specifically go out of my way to raise it, but given that I only used the first 3 characters you get for every single thing... well the affinity between those three was maxed out pretty early on.

So I'm guessing you were a beast with chain attacks.

I actually rarely used them... Usually I preferred to keep the gauge full for visions and in case somebody died. I will say some fights dragged on for me due to this cautious play-style and having Sharla as pretty much nothing but a healer.

I remember the Lorithia fight took me a solid half hour or so...

Really you only need to keep one bar full for visions and death. Although I wouldn't think death would be an issue if Sharla is in your party.
y u no use Mechon Fiora, she was the original third party member

I think this response is nice and generic and spoiler free

I know, but I guess that being my first play-through I felt overly-worried about things. I didn't die often at all, so yeah, it was very unecessary to hang onto that full bar. Hence the massively long fights. Really I grew dependent on Sharla, which created a lot of problems in terms of experimentation and fights that felt easy enough but just dragged on at times. It's something I've avoided in subsequent play-throughs.

That still doesn't excuse you from not using the seventh party member

Yeah, don't grow too dependent on a character, as then you won't be able to experiment with others and see different strategies each team has. You could have a topple and daze heavy team with Shulk, Reyn and Dunban, keeping the enemy from getting up. For normal enemies that are 5-7 levels above me, I used Melia, Sharla and Riki for an Ether team, as normal enemies always get hit by Ether.

Yeah I've messed around a whole lot more since then, though I've never been the type to play an RPG and like... use hella terms and super thought out strats. I can just basically say my favorite team has been Shulk Reyn and Ricky haha.

Now we can strike Melia off the list.
... Alright, so who's going to do Sharla?
