What about Satorl Marsh Night?
Yeah, the song is peaceful or unfitting for Smash, but aren't some songs in Smash like that? Midna's Lament comes to mind.

Environmental Noise, Car Select, and worst of all Ai no Uta French Version come to mine too.

A peaceful song isn't necessarily unfitting, in fact I think Satorl Marsh works pretty well depending on the scenery. I can honestly hear the typical sounds of battle in my head as I hear the track, but who knows. Like I said, it'd really depend on the stage they went with.

Speaking of the other operational Rainfall games, how is Pandora's Tower? As you guys know Xenoblade is one of my favorite games. I recently picked up The Last Story. The story and cast are both great. I can maybe see one song getting into Smash from that game, otherwise it will likely get snubbed because it is niche.

Most of the Xenoblade songs are amazing. I'm still not entirely sure what my number one stage pick from the game would be though.

I hate to say it, but in a way my ideal stage for Xenoblade is some sort of generic floating island stage that has a good view of both giants, or maybe just Sword Valley with night/day cycles. I know it's not the most clever thing, but I can't imagine a more iconic background or one that would be most neutral, allowing the largest amount of songs to fit in without seeming out of place.

Personally, I would choose Gaur Plains as a stage, with the Mechonis or an expansive field with animals in the background. Guar Plains is by far the area that impressed me the most in terms of graphics, so I would love to see that area get an HD makeover on the Wii U. I can imagine the stage have some sort of curved shape or design to it.

However, I do find this to be a good idea as well.

Guar Plains is a good one in my opinion. There's enough rock formations around that area that it could easily avoid being a walk-off, or having to use artificially placed platforms.

Satorl Marsh would really stand out compared to the usual slew of Smash stages.

A backdrop of the titans fitting would be pretty cool. Reminds me of Halberd in a way….. you can land on them while they fight?
I'd rather have a real location though.

What do you guys think would be the worst stage option? Changing things up here

The WORST stage option?... A spoilerific walk-off stage based around the final fight where in the boss attacks all the players every so often.

Worst but still more likely than that, probably a fight on the roofs of Colony 9.

yeah as soon as I said it, I realized Colony 9 isn't that unlikely...

And I know Xenoblaze, though I doubt we'll get anything at all about it until when and if Shulk is revealed playable. If they showed anything from it anytime soon the expectation/hype for his reveal would be too large.

Worst stage option? I would probably go with Satorl Marsh. I dunno what they would do with that area and make it a stage.

EDIT: Come to think of it… I think that Prison Island would be worse.

I don't think that we will get a Xenoblade stage until Shulk is confirmed.

I actually think Prison Island could be one of the better options... given a nice view of the stuff down below.

Worst Idea? I would have to say the High Entia Tomb. I dunno.

Still crossing fingers for Eryth Sea, that place is beautiful.

Worst idea... The box of Xenoblade. imagine characters fighting over the white edge, and all you can see of Xenoblade is a static image of the Monado and one of the Titans.

Funny how I like both of those ideas. You're definitely right about a stage reveal though. I doubt we will even get one if Shulk is not playable. One of the mine or cave areas would be pretty generic. Also Raguel Bridge after seeing it in that fake leak. Not a good choice.

Look at all these brilliant ideas from the "What Do People Have Against Shulk Thread": http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/633202-super-smash-bros-for-wii-u/68249653

The main argument I see against him is that hes just another swordsman and that we dont need another one.

probably because shulk haters most likely have a massive hard-on for Waluigi for some strange reason

He has the dumbest name ever. Also a wannabe Tidus, and I don't say that with any reverence towards Tidus
harvestmoonmikePosted 1/3/2014 6:11:17 PM
Too niche. Shulk is hardly even the face of his own game, a single game at that, one that shares a name with another franchise.

Sure, the game may be good, but Nintendo still treats it like crumbs compared to their other franchises.

I'm not saying he's impossible, but I wouldn't decide to put him in. He's not big enough to be placed in a game among such other Nintendo figures. Characters and franchises that mean more to the company.

Yeah GFaqs is a pretty poopy place for Shulk discussion. Everyone who doesn't like him speak as if it's fact that he has no chance, and everyone that says they like him get misinterpreted as having said that he's a shoo-in.

Gamefaqs is a pretty poopy place for discussion in general. :p Especially with all those "leaks" going around that place.

And I don't get that argument saying he's hardly the face of his own game. Like what? Then who is?

I did a fake leak at gamefaqs once. I did a half assed sprite image on a poorly photoshopped 3DS. that was a fun experience....some people thought it was real.

Yeah people seem to think that just because he has a good supporting cast of characters and because he's not an overbearing cliche of a JRPG character that he's too "generic" or "bland."

I would love to see that thread.

I found Shulk to be a nicely written character and I didn't find him to be generic or cliche. Then again, I haven't played too many RPGs.

The main thing I like about Shulk compared to other main protagonists in other RPG's is that he's not a hot blooded idiot. Instead he's smart but naive, with a more mellow demeanor but isn't afraid to strike.

In fact, I would label Reyn as more of the hot blooded idiot, and even then he's not stupid (at worst he's got average intelligence) and he's not obnoxiously hot blooded.

GameFAQ's opinion is not the same as everyone else's. There were quite a few people who were upset that Rosalina got in over ****ing Daisy

The Daisy thing was always a little mind-blogging to me, I never even heard about people talking about Daisy until after Rosalina was announced. As if no one thought either of them had a chance and it was fine as long as neither were added.

I'd love for Last Story music especially Dance of Death and the final boss fight.
Haven't finished Pandora's Tower yet, so idk but I'd like to see it there!

I think the only argument that has weight for Shulk not being there is that he's a oneshot. (Sheik, Ice Climbers, Ness, Lucas... Roy was nonexistant at the time)
Maybe the sword wielder thing too, but involving the arts, maybe some ally abilities we got a large amount of possibilities.

To be perfectly honest the only I argument against Shulk that I think carries NO weight whatsoever is that he'd just be another sword wielder.

I mean I can see where people are coming from when they say he's too new/not established because it's at least a true statement, even if we can't say what it means for his chances.

But it's usually people that haven't even played Xenoblade that claim that he doesn't seem like a moveset could be made for him -_-

LOL The Monado is a godly energy sword, which separates it from the likes of the Falchion or Master Sword. These "too many swordsmaners" are almost as bad as the "Too bigots".

I think it's safe to assume that most people who argue against Shulk as being just "another swordsman" have not played Xenoblade.

And I think most swordsmen in the series have had unique movesets. Exceptions only being Marth to Roy and Link to Toon/Young Link.

The argument of "another swordsman" or "too many swordmen" is completly ********, against any character.

I just think it's funny because Shulk offers waaay more than any other swordsmen newcomer (save for maybe Takamaru). It's not like Chrom or Roy can compete with the unique factor brought by Shulk in my opinion.

Say that towards the guys at GameFAQs, they have a nasty double standard.

Definitely, and yet Chrom is practically considered in the roster by many thanks to the "pattern" of a new FE character in every title.

I think we all agree You Will Know Our Names should play in Shulk's trailer, no?

If not, any other good music ideas?
