X will definitely be released after SSB4, no doubt about that.

If there is a new trailer shown for X in a Nintendo Direct, then I bet that there is a possibility that they would reveal Shulk before the X trailer.
I agree completely. I always imagined that if Shulk made the cut, he would be revealed alongside an X trailer or release.

Speaking of his trailer. How would it go?

I dunno how it would start nor a phrase to go along with his reveal (like Rosalina and Luma Launch In!), but I think this is how it should end:
Shulk sees visions of getting hit by Donkey Kong's Giant Punch, Luigi's Super Jump Punch, and King Dedede's side smash. Shulk dodges Donkey Kong's Giant Punch, completely evades Luigi's Super Jump Punch, and attacks King Dedede before he can unleash his side smash.
Of course, THIS theme should play during his trailer; I would be disappointed if it didn't:

I could see his trailer begin by showing Donkey Kong, Luigi, and Dedede fighting somewhere on the Gaur Plains. Shulk, walking around nearby, decides to investigate. He gets too close to the fight and becomes a target. What do you think?

Annnd, now I have that song stuck in my head. lol Makes me wanna go smash some mechon.

I haven't played Xenoblade, so I searched up the music.

I still don't know why Shulk is so...

...popular.

HOLY MOTHER OF GOD, I HAVE A SUDDEN URGE TO SEE HIM BEAT UP MEGA MAN AND R.O.B. IN SMASH 4.

I always imagined Mechon flying in on everybody and then comes Shulk to hack at every Mechon he sees.

"Shulk hacks his way in!" or something cheesy like that, lol.

And yes, the OST is amazing.

I think the best phrase is "Shulk busts through!"
How do you guys think the trailer will go for Shulk, it's gotta be something completely different, like how it translated to Kirby Air Ride to Rainbow Road to Rosalina.

Without Transition: Shulk could be battling monsters with Reyn and Sharla, and then he has a vision of a character (Bowser will be used for this example) attacking Reyn. Then Shulk warns Reyn and Breaks Bowser, Reyn Topples Bowser, and Shulk Dazes Bowser. Then we see gameplay footage of Shulk in action.

With Transition: I think a cool transition could be from Skyward Sword to Xenoblade Chronicles. Link could be seen fighting Bokoblins and eliminates every last one. Then he comes across a Mechon and he can't do anything to them because the Master Sword isn't the proper weapon to use against them. Then Shulk comes out of nowhere and eliminates every last Mechon. Then we see gameplay footage of Shulk in action.

EDIT: And, of course, when the gameplay footage starts, You Will Know Our Names will begin to play.

All of these ideas sound great. Do you guys think Shulk will still have the same voice actor as he does in Xenoblade? I hope he does...

I hope so too.

I liked the voice acting in Xenoblade. It was rather good to be honest. So, I hope that Shulk gets his current voice actor for Smash; it's pretty fitting for him to be honest.

Which reminds me, his English voice actor Adam Howden mentioned a long time ago that he was starting voice work for something new.
I hope this doesn't end up like Krystal's voice actor in Brawl. You know the incident.

Here's an idea of a possible trailer.

Mario, Donkey Kong, Marth, and Dedede are fighting in Guar Plains when a sudden stampede of beasts interrupts them. Suddenly, they see a shadow standing in front of the sun on top of the arch in Guar Plains. Suddenly, a blinding flash and the Monando appears - striking deep into the ground.

Shulk suddenly appears, takes his sword and performs a wide sweeping slash - knocking everyone away. As they struggle up to their feet, Shulk stands there - confident. Then the title appears Shulk Leads the Battle!

This is followed by his various attacks, in particular, two special moves set in Guar Plains. It also shows a taunt or two.

The final cinematic would be Marth trying to attack Shulk who had a quick vision of the attack. Afterward, he avoids it by knocking Marth's sword from him. He then points his sword towards the camera.

Given the fact that most recent newcomers use purely the smash fighters in their trailers, this would be my take:
Marth, Link, Bowser, and Ganondorf are fighting on a generic seeming field. Ganondorf and Bowser are defeating the characters. Then the screen turns into what it looks like for Shulk's visions, turning white and giving us a glimpse into Link's defeat. Link is barely standing, as Ganondorf uses his sword (because he has been decloned with some sword moves) and uses an over head strike, to only see his blade stop by a familiar red blade. The swordsman pushes back against Ganondorf as he shouts "The Future doesn't belong to you!", and we get an insert of Shulk with his sword:
Shulk Sees the Future!

This music is used, with a faster tempo: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-NLrE2R-5eo
Then we go actual gameplay footage. We get a good view of the Bionis Leg stage. Shulk uses all his key moves on characters like Mario, Bowser, Link, Samus, Rosalina, the VIllager, Mega Man, Pikachu, and Marth. The moves we see are Cyclone, Buster, Speed, Purge, Back Slash, Shaker Edge, Stream Edge, with him saying quotes like "Streeeam Edge!" "You're not invincible!" and "Not good enough!" and it ends with him saying "Behold the power of the Monado!", before we see his actual final smash.

Then we go back to the original battle. Shulk helps Link up as they prepare for the fight. Ganondorf and Bowser turn into Ganon and Giga Bowser respectively. We get the trio of swordsmen all readying their swords, with Shulk in the middle. Both Marth and Link look at Shulk, as Shulk closes his eyes for a vision. The camera zooms in and then goes to white. We get the SSB4 logo.

Regarding the recent news about Monolith recruiting new members to their teams, and as Brawler610 said, I think X will most probably be released some times after SSB4.

And I was wondering : In order to promote their newest project, Monolith (and by extension Tetsuya Takahashi) could have gived to Sakurai their allowance to use the main hero of X as a new fighter alongside Shulk, as the same way for Roy during the Melee era.

I admit this case is very unlikely, but X's development have been probably started at the same time as SSB4's roster elaboration, so there are still chances it will happen.

And, at least the story goes, Roy was chosen late in development of Smash when the clones were being added. I wouldn't hold out on that hope too much. I'm hoping Xenoblade getting a possible sequel will be enough for it. Pikmin got in on only two games so it's not impossible.

I really think getting Shulk in will be a positive force in Smash as well as being more attention to Monolith Soft. It's a great developer that produces consistently great games.

Question: Assuming Shulk gets in...what other elements of Xenoblade could they add such as stages, assist trophies, items, trophies, and possible bosses?

For an Assist Trophy, I would say that it should be either Reyn or Riki.
For a stage, I have to go with the Guar Plain.
For a boss, I would have to go with Metal Face.

I might have said other options, but I haven't gotten too far in Xenoblade.
I am going to some fortress now and I have to get to Sword Valley. The Monado is now at the next level.
And looking at what happened, I bet that I won't like Alvis later on.

Assist Trophies:
  • Sharla (heals the summoners and does a little bit of damage to the opponent)
  • Dunban (Stuns the enemy with his thunder art and wacks them repeatedly with the sword)
Stages:
  • Sword Valley (a few mechon and aircraft appear as stage hazards)
  • The pit/basement where Xord was
  • Colony 9, center
  • Valak Mountain
Bosses:

Don't read unless you've completed the game!

  • Zanza, who starts in his first form and transform to the others based on the damage he's taken. He attacks with both Monados and the copies of himself to tease the player, which die in one hit. (I may edit this later)
  • Xord
  • A Telethia

AT:
Dunban (Blossom Dance)
Reyn (Reyn Time)
Melia (Something with Magic that harms opponents)

Stage:
Can basically be any major area of the game. They are all epic as well as unique in their own ways, though I'd rather not have Valak Mountain, especially since Ice Climbers probably will have that area covered with their stage whenever they are inevitably revealed. The idea of a journey through different areas sounds cool, but one area is probably the best idea. No one mentioned Prison Island from what I have seen. That place was pretty cool. What do you guys think?

Boss:
I think Metal Face is the best choice.
Some of the other bosses are too spoilerific in my opinion. Xord is alright, but he is pretty similar to Metal Face and not as iconic.

Stage Music:
You Will know Our names
Engage the Enemy
One who gets In our way
Mechanical Rhythm
Area theme (ex. Mechonis Field would play if stage is Mechonis Field)

Victory Music:
Secret Area Theme

Trailer Tagline:
The Future is his to Control! Shulk envisions the battle!

Items:
Pilot a mech from X…(not really though I cannot wait to do that in the new game)

The only piece of music I require is the theme for the Bionis Leg. It's so. Freaking. Good.

I have it on my iPod and can listen to it all the time. It's just so great. I'll be sad if it's not in the game at all even. Wah.

The songs in Xenoblade seem more fitting for a boss battle.
It would be a bit funny to fight against people while Confrontation with the Enemy is playing, drama crossing over fun.

I just listed to Engage the Enemy. I'm just picturing Shulk fighting somebody on Gaur Plains, and it just seems EPIC to me.

It's just epic.

Then again I feel like any music from Xenoblade would be welcome. Especially the ones that foolssigma listed.

I see Shulk getting You Will Know Our Names as his theme in his trailer to be honest. All great music from this game.

@ BluePikmin11 BluePikmin11 , while I agree that song sounds particularly dramatic, there are plenty of unfitting songs in Brawl mind you. Plus I think in actual execution, that would be one of the most epic songs in Smash.

I googled it and got this from operation rainfall.com

"GoNintendo recently found a tweet from Smash Bros. producer Masahiro Sakurai that was sent out during Press Start 2013. The tweet in question roughly translates to “You were cheers for good work! Thank Tanoshu this year.” It also contains a picture of what appears to be a recording studio, given all the instruments and performers in the background. But the object in the foreground is certainly not an instrument"

I don't want to look to much into it but Sakurai is definitely a fan.

Ah. I see.
I have much more confidence in Shulk now. If Sakurai's a fan of Xenoblade, then I bet that he was considered for SSB4. At least, that is how I see it.

@Brawler610 did you get that from one of my posts? Not that it matters but i'm just wondering.

I still think Shulk has a decent chance. I'm hoping for the best.

I've been trying to show users outside of this thread just what Shulk can bring with him. Not that support matters now, but I just want to share the idea.

I knew I remembered seeing that tweet somewhere a while back. Most people have probably never seen the tweet. Seeing it makes me feel like Xenoblade is less obscure, though Sakurai definitely has to be aware of all of Nintendo's franchises and games both new and old.

A friend of mine showed me that Tweet on another website. I never have seen it until now.

I have more confidence in Shulk now. I just find that we will inevitably see him in Smash, whether it's an Assist Trophy or playable character, I think that he will be in the game. But, I think that he is more likely to be playable.

I've looked through Sakurai's tweets a while back and I did find that tweet.

That was definitely a good sign for Shulk but I don't think he's a total shoe-in as a playable character yet. X will make it or break it, in my opinion. I would honestly be dissapointed if he was made into an assist trophy. Xenoblade was probably my favorite game on the Wii and I would hate to not even be able to play as Shulk.

I find Shulk to be a rather likely choice. If Shulk has been demanded worldwide and Sakurai recognizes his game, then I think that Shulk was considered by Sakurai. I bet that Monolith wanted a say in Smash 4's development.

I don't find that X will make or break Shulk. Looking at the X trailer, a person who looks like Shulk was there at the beginning of the trailer. I also saw an analysis video on YouTube where someone pointed out that the area with the palm trees looks like Colony 6. I think that X will be a Xenoblade sequel as it has so many elements from that game in this one.

Lastly, in Fire Emblem, there are numerous protagonists that come and go. However, Marth is still in Smash for being the very first hero. Even if we get a new protagonist in X, Shulk is definitely going to be the frontrunner for the Xenoblade series. It's going to be Shulk or it's going to be no one.

Shulk to me is like Issac back then. I know that a lot of people wanted him during Brawl and he got in as an Assist Trophy. I too would be disappointed if Shulk got in as an Assist Trophy as there is so much uniqueness behind Shulk. Yes, he's a sword user, but he has various Monado Arts that he can use to make him unique. It would be a damn shame if he becomes an Assist.

The only thing that tweet does is show that there is a sense of familiarity at play. Though considering the Monado is plastered all over the place in advertising, even someone oblivious to the actual content of Xenoblade Chronicles would immediately know what the Monado is at least.

I've never played Xenoblade, but if Shulk was to get confirmed (which i believe his chances are super high after skimming this thread) I would buy it in a heartbeat. I support Shulk and would love to see another new face people want added to the roster.

Let me clarify, it seems I was a little minsunderstood. I'm usually pretty unclear. I know Shulk's chances are likely, but I still have doubts. What I meant to say was that X would solidify my hopes. And yes, I've also seen an analysis. I definitely do think it's worth taking a look at.

Sorry if I was unclear.

I recall there being an GameXplain video that involved chuggaconroy, who being a big fan of Xenoblade Chronicles went into more detail with the examination of the E3 trailer. For example he mentions that the mysterious blue object next to the mutated stag monster is similar to the items in the overworld in Xenoblade Chronicles, which were depicted as blue wisps for normal items.

Can you find it? I'd like to see more of the game.
