I know of people who used to think like you, their names are Josh McDowell and Lee Strobel. Their lives were hell bent on disproving religion. They tried hard, and when they were done they were Christians.

Faith is a virtue in religion. All religion, by definition, requires an element of faith. That is to say, belief in something despite logic or lack of scientific evidence. Faith is a belief based simply on traditions and hopes and not on anything rational or critical. Thus faith is the virtue that is ignorance in religion.
Hey! I know who Josh McDowell is. He was an Atheist lawyer who said he was going to prove once and for all that there is no God, and he said he was going to do it the right way. Then it turns out that after all his research, he changes his mind and said there's more proof that Jesus was real than there is proof that George Washington was real.
Oh! And faith is not belief without logic. When you drive through an intersection at a green light, don't you have FAITH that the other cars have a red light and you can pass safely through?? Or is that just a "belief based simply on traditions and hopes and not on anything rational or critical"?

Jesus and Socrates are about on the same level as far as evidence for existence goes.
You're using the word 'faith' to mean a different thing than I am. You're using it to mean 'trust' as opposed to 'believe without reason.' What you called 'having faith' is actually a rational belief based on factual documented scientific evidence and previous experience. Religious faith is altogether different. Faith is how people "know" things (religious or otherwise) are "true" in their hearts without critically examining it.

That may describe what faith is, but it doesn't define it. I believe that electrons exist, yet I can't do any of those things to them. But I believe they exist because of the vast amount of scientific evidence available. It is not a belief based on faith.
In any case, believing in anything without the use of logic, evidence, and critical thinking, i.e. what separates humans from beasts, is irrational and ignorant.
