Remember to bring setups everyone!!!!!!

It would be lame if you guys wanted to set up SSFIV or Pokemon Stadium and there wasn't enough setups for Melee to begin with.

how is the ratatat game not random? Lickitung seems way more legit than ratatat
I can't wait to do the sandshrew/electricity/metapod games

Important Update

You should probably read this.

JDM just ran an idea past me. Since I do these tournaments basically monthly, he said I should make it a Ranbat. We start at this tournament and go until September.

Point system goes: 1st= 8pts 2nd=7pts 3rd=6pts 4=5 5=3 5=3 7=1 7=1

It can keep tabs on how players have been placing at these plus, at the end, the top 4 will be awarded from a Bonus Pot.

The Bonus pot split would go: 40/30/20/10

We would fund the Bonus pot via adding $1 onto the Singles entry fee.

Tell me what you think.

what element of randomness exists in the ratatta game?

the little jumps come in a set pattern every time.

its only a button masher

ugh I don't want to pay an extra dollar

it might stir up competition in the top socal players though, but they're already competitive towards each other.

If you can't afford an extra dollar for a tournament then you're not cut out for competitive play.

If it does happen, there will be like some little girls and their moms in the pool, and people will be too scared to it. I could see that happening.

I dont want stab to stop hosting these tournaments because we're throwing people in the pool and it might cost him the venue

Ya the thing is that if your whole outfit gets wet then you'll be dripping all day and you can't drip in the venue.

Maybe you could switch out to bathing suit first (that kind of ruins the "get dunked in the pool" thing but yeah)

Option 2: Carry an extra set of clothes

Basically just find a way to NOT drip in the venue after the dunk.

Also, I need some feed back on the RanBat idea.

agreed

competitive fire comes from within. you have it or you don't. there's no point in trying to incentivize it.

and jdm gtfo of here with retardo blanket statements

Afford? Wrong choice of word here.
I think you mean willingness, or something...

Because I LITERALLY can not afford an extra dollar.

I think you're just a little too attached to your idea and are trying to defend it... @_@

and if it's just ONE measly dollar, like you're saying, why does that measly extra dollar get to decide if I'm "cut out for competitive play" ?????
That's a lot of power for one dollar to have

The general feeling from this that I'm getting is that people don't want to end up paying an extra dollar since it will go the people who are ALREADY making the money.

I can understand that so I'm probably not gonna go through with the idea.

Though I may still tally up the ranking points for fun.

its a cool idea

but it might not be different than having a power ranking imo

only this will be one for this tournament series plus the bonus pot

tbh jdm

we should have these at our 949 smashfest

it will make a few us more competitive

instead of us messing around for a while with a few serious matches in between

I'm sorry for trying to help out the community.

My bad.
why ya gotta try and turn everything around?

No one got on your case for trying to "help out the community"
if we thought you were trying to do that, we obviously wouldn't have said anything against it...

I see how ranbats can be a good idea, and help out the community.

But just not in this specific scenario.
Feel free to prove me wrong.

Well, you enter tournaments full well knowing you're not going to place in the money. I don't see how adding the ranking and bonus pot at the end of a 5 tourney season would be any different.

Okay, I get it, you're paying an extra dollar but really, how hard is it to scrape up an extra dollar? Save change/skimp on getting a soda in place of water when you go out to eat/etc.

The top 4 wouldn't be set in stone either. Pretty much everyone in the top 10 of the PR can beat each other on occasion so it would increase competition between them. Except Mango but he never goes to these anymore anyway (AA mango, AA).

I'm not going to instate these if it's generally unpopular (which it is atm) but hopefully I can make you see that it's really not that bad for the people who won't place top 4.

Sadly some people are broke as **** =/
well yeah that's true

but remember when we had a free ranbat once after the one we did the 2 dollar one?

everyone still tried hard since it was a mini-tournament

we should still be having those

that's one reason i only play singles at jdm's now

i wanna get better so i try to stay at the singles tv only

stab you should test it anyways

end of a five tourney session?
That means I threw in 5 extra dollars overall.

That's another flippin tournament that I didn't get to go to (5 bucks, that is).

5 dollars is worth the tournament experience to me.
And I don't have any money in the first place to save after going out to eat, which I don't do.

You can't say A WORD about money Matt.
You get obscene amounts of money every month that you didn't work for.
I'm happy for you that you get that, but don't come talking down other broke b1tches like myself concerning money dude.

An extra tourney you didn't go to......IN 5 MONTHS.

I know you're broke but it's 1 dollar

1 dollar dude

There are so many ways to scrounge up an extra dollar IN A MONTH. I don't have to be broke to know that.

looks like gsub got this one handled

good **** gsub

edit: oh ****, my bad: cameron. good **** cameron

double edit:

guys, why is this a big deal? people are only going to do what best serves them. we all do, and that's perfectly fine. there's no need to get butt hurt because your idea wasn't accepted. it has nothing to do with you or your idea; it has to do with US. separate the idea from the people.

and quite frankly the inconvenience of having to bring another dollar / break a 10 or 20 to get another dollar isn't worth it. heck, losing another dollar isn't worth it. for what? to keep track of how good i've played? EVERYONE KNOWS HOW GOOD THEY'VE PLAYED AT A TOURNY!

this isn't personal dude. either you want to or you don't. how can you say there's anything bad or good with either side? IT'S AN OPINION!

If it's so cheap and easy,

I would but you already owe me 5 bucks.
You would????

Aight. Ima take you up on that.
That means the next tourney I don't have you pay for me at, is me repaying you the five bucks.
Thanks dawg.

@Jason: A big deal? It's a forum. Where you talk. There's a difference between being cheap and not wanting to be frivolous with my money, especially when it's a hassle. But yeah, I am cheap as ****.
