Sitting in my chair I got an idea.

not just any idea but an awesome idea.

If you guys would have enough I propose a crew battle.

Not just any battle but a battle of the classic GE KC rivalry

3v3 or 4v4!

And this is why I'm not a writer!

Then there's Fury and HiME whom are inactive (however these 2 guys might be at CoT 5).

And Def who is also inactive, and lives in TX currently, so he won't be at CoT 5.

I'd do it, provided Smurf or Fury actually go. As of now, neither of them are registered. Smurf is doing an internship so idk if he'll be there. I'm on the other guys cases though to register/go.

I'm going to be waaaaaaay too busy. However, APEX 2012 is the weekend before Spring 2012 syllabus week. I'm planning on going to that. Right now my plan is to come back to SC on Wed. or Thurs., then drive there Friday morning. Come back Sunday night(its supposed to end at 8). If I need to, I'll leave earlier.

if you hold one i'd def try to go and I'd be willing to help out if you want ^_^

the best advice i can give you is to say you're gonna start an hour before you actually plan to... something always goes wrong in somebody's carpool. other than that, make sure you're not conflicting with something else close by and try to announce the date far enough in advance that people can call off work and make plans. Good luck!

I initially thought I was going to be too busy, but I shouldn't have much the weekend of syllabus week, and its a Saturday.

The only catch is that would be 6 hours of driving in one day. I'd like to spend the night in harrisburg the night after its over(I can get a stupidly cheap hotel deal at a hotel there). Then we can be back in State college as early as anyone wants to be Sunday morning. Last time I drove us 6 hours in 1 day for a tourney was Br2, and that drive was hell for me on the way back due to how tired I was.

Only thing I'd ask for if I drove/got the room would be help with gas money, and thats the same distance whether we stay overnight or not.

We finally got rankings done. I'm 5th and Bryan made Honorable mention due to beating Luckay, Tiger, and Sails. Good job man! I just wish you made one more tourney so you could of been fully ranked.

Alright guys, Alex Strife got the Hyatt Regency near the APEX venue discounted again, like he did last time. As of now Pat and I are going to APEX. Sam wants to, but school may prevent him from doing so. I really encourage everyone to try and be here. This will be a legendary tournament, and one of the greatest smash tournaments of all time. If your saving money for a tourney, put it towards this one; it'll be worth it.

Regarding housing: A thread will go up on Smashboards relating to this and helping out any of you that are in need of housing. Once that thread goes up, it will be posted here.

We have until the end of the semester to decide on this. I would really like to stay there. Colaya and I stayed there at the last APEX. Its EXTREMELY nice, and its a great deal considering its only $30 per night more than that ****hole we stayed at for cot5, and its infinitely nicer. Also, it was the smash hotel. Pretty much every single smasher stayed there unless they were local. I'm already starting to plan on saving up for this event. However, I'm NOT paying for it all myself. I need people to pitch in, I'd prefer it'd be for the hotel. I can handle gas. This tournament is almost 6 months away, no money johns. Even if you put $20 bucks a month aside, you'll have almost $120 bucks ready by then. If we don't have enough going to APEX from here to make the housing affordable, I'm going to talk to the pittsburgh melee guys about splitting a room with them.


We got 2 main options for going there and back. Both involve leaving from State College, so make sure your in town early from break.

Option 1: Go there thursday night. Thursday night smashfests will likely be happening. Leave Sunday night since we got class monday.
Drawback: $120ish more dollars

Option 2: Leave State College Friday morning. Less smash and its possible we may miss some melee stuff unless we leave super early, but its $120 less dollars we have to pay. Leave Sunday night since we got class monday.
Drawback: No thursday night smashfests/hanging out.

Option 2 is probably better. As much as I like chilling with people the night before big tourneys, why pay the extra $120 when we don't need to and use that to cover our food costs.

oh wow I actually have relatives that live in new brunswick! or east brunswick I forget which -_- but that would be an incentive for me to go to this, I'd like to see them ^_^

I plan to save up and go to this. It may not happen given the difficulties of my current financial situation, but I would really like to go. I want to do melee if possible, but I understand if we can't make it happen. Maybe I could talk to jmoan and work something out with him too... 2 state college cars would be sick ^_^

Also, starting this fall, I was thinking that we do free practice tournaments on a weekly basis, and use them to make local rankings. Thoughts?

I just checked the schedule. We should have no issue making it in time for melee if we leave early. At noon Melee crews US vs the world is occurring(I really want to see that), and at 1:30 doubles is scheduled to start.

Reg is ending like 11, but I can guarantee you it'll last longer(As a TO, you always write times you want stuff to happen earlier than it actually will).

I checked mapquest. From Triangle to the hotel, the drive is 4 hours, which is actually longer than I initially thought. My driving will cut ~20-30 or so minutes off the time since I drive about 10mph over on the highway, but I'm factoring in traffic. It'll be about 4 hours though if we stop for longer than a bathroom break. I've definitely done worse, but I thought it was like 3.

Regardless, we still should have no issue being there in time for melee. Melee was hyped as hell last time; wouldn't want you missing it. Jmoan should really come! Double cars would whoop *** too.


Who knows? If you guys are up for it and we come into the money somehow that late in the year, I'd be completely down for going Thursday night to chill at the hotel if we can afford it. I went Thursday night last time and it was really fun.

And melon, you better not be mad rusty when we get back, cuz your Wario's got stuff to learn, and the best Sheik in PA to get hammered on by. And Jiggs if you still feel like pla-what am I saying, YOU BETTER KEEP PLAYING JIGGS!

Lastly, my vote is for Friday morning. I don't see any kind of rationale telling me to pay an extra 120/however many of us go just to play more Smash. Also, if I catch a Megabus to get down there Thursday, I'd kinda like to have a night's rest before heading off again.

Another lastly: I'm thinking of bringing a setup (not the same TV from BR3, a smaller, amazing-to-carry TV that's kinda old) with me. I might bring the TV with me for fall semester, or I might bring the TV I had before. If I do bring it, could I just set it in your room when we leave for break, mav (doubt I'll have card access to the dorms if I get there Thursday)? Then I'll bring my Wii with me to SC at the same time.

lol @ me and pat still not getting recognition for having been power ranked on their .

Also, I'm pretty sure my wario has become better than my falco. I was able to beat Bryan twice with him after not going to a tourney in over half a year, and swept Paul in a GF set for once, with our other match coming down to last hit. I also last FREAKING FOREVER with Wario (usually last a minimum of 150 per stock with him ). Jiggs will prolly be just for fun anymore, she's just not viable for tourney. Falco will still be a backup tho, because I still feel better about one or two matchups with him.

In regards to APEX, it's all about whether or not I have the cash too , if it's their, hell yeah. If it's not, oh well. Xanadu will probably happen unless something really bad happens financially, but it's not looking bad.

We've played 4 tourney sets in a 2 month span, and that doesn't count doubles, which I believe has been....4 more times.

So 8 tourney sets in 2 months.
