Heyo, guys! >__<! So I just now started using Olimar. I picked him up about two weeks ago and officially started playing a bit last weekend. So I'm extremely new and pretty bad.. But I'll like to learn and get better of course! And eventually I'll take over!

So here are some videos! Please post some tips! I greatly appreciate it, guys! I really do!

These are all against a friend whom mains Dedede. We played tons of matches but got about three saved in the end. XD; Kind of forgot about it.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q2ZV0aEuXSM I win.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=esaccLCbesY I lose. Kind of killed myself in the end? XD; idk what I was thinking.. ;..;v
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=snUwtdPTuLc I lose.. kind of badly at first but caught up!

Mistakes that I know I do from watching:
I'm an aggressive Olimar. So.. yeah.. that's bad. TT__TTv
My whistling is horrible. Just something I need to practice.
I roll a lot. Youchies. x-x General bad habit..
I tend to like to pick Pikmin... even when I have a long line.. I just pick invisible Pikmin~
My recovery sucks.. x-x
There's no Bucket Break. I played Game and Watch so I'm not use to that. D:
Get better at comboing.. more down throw to fair.
I'm a little bad at Pikmin toss.

What I was told:
I should short hop Pikmin Toss. - Thanks Jason/L Cancel. O:

What I do right:
Play blue gloves!

Thanks, everyone! Sorry for being bad. But be prepared when I become top Girlimar. O:

Just for future reference, the video thread serves a double purpose as a critique thread, or at least it has been lately lol. Although it isn't made known in the title of the thread so the misunderstanding is fine.

Game One

Get use to, when you're running away, throwing pikmin towards your opponent mid run so that you're able to keep pressure while you're still getting away from your opponent. Same with pivot grabs if they're close enough.Fsmash more when you're backed against a ledge against DDD.

Use dthrow -> fair more than usmash, it's better but you'll have to get the timing for it and the fast fall down.If you have whites in the front of your line, and you can toss them at your opponent, do so. Short Hop it as well so it's

Uair more. Especially when the opponent is on a platform.

Game Two

You're using uair more in this one, as well as nair for your landings, which are both good. But nairing a shield is extremely dangerous if the opponent knows what you're trying to do. If you nair a shield you can either usmash, hoping they drop the shield, or utilt for shield pressure.

You also fair a lot in this game which is really good.

Stop rolling so much X:

Game Three

Predictably hitting a shield with fair and staying in their grab range is bad. Try to space it so that you're out of their range after the fair hits. Hit with the tip of the attack.

Nice 10 - 87% combo!

Throw whites more, especially when you're recovering. it'll oftentimes mess up your opponent's ledge guard and give you an opening to get back on stage easier.

TT__TT Whoopsies. Sorries!

But thanks!! I'll make sure to keep that in mind. I use to dthrow to fair a lot.. but then started dthrow to usmash and it just became a bad habit. I'll make sure to try and break that. And sorry about the rolling. ;..;v
Thank yew, Andrew~

you do roll a lot....also try to predict chars such as d3, who always spot dodge, and try to punish them.

nair into anything is really good, and long multi-hit attacks, like grounding your nair into an utilt, works really good on d3. needs more pivot grabbing :D

I saw only the last vid. I'm not sure how much of what Im going to say has been covered by Hilt.

Especially in the DDD matchup, you should punish spotdodge and airdpdges with shorthop nairs.

For edgeguarding, going offstage is obviously very dangerous. Tether can be useful for edgeguarding, as long as you remember to shorthop it and not use it o. The ground.

Obviously, don't be aggressive.

When you're in close range grabs and fsmashes are too slow to use. Use shorthop nair instead.

Focus more on staying in the center of the stage.

I only watched the 2nd one, but I got a good idea of you play.

You strike me as one of those players who constantly feels like they need to make something happen. As in, you feel like you're doing something wrong if you're not charging at them and attempting to hit them. The thing is, you don't always have a plan in mind. You just run in, and wing it from there, merely praying the attack will connect. Learn some patience. Olimar is one of the best campers in the game, he can force most of the cast to come to him, or at least force them into uncomfortable positions.

A trick against DDD: If you feel that he is gonna use inhale, just start charging a forwardsmash. The wind will carry the pikmin towards him and hit him, so it gives Fsmash even more range than it already has.

Keep track of your lineup better. You seemed to sometimes throw out attacks with no regard to what color you were using. I periodically whistle just so it makes it easier to keep track of my line.

This is personal preference, but after a KO I like to put my whites first, then when they respawn, I throw my whites then purples, then try to get a grab. At low % against most characters, a purple toss will combo into a grab if you do it right. So I like to latch the white, then immediately hit them with the purple, then grab, dthrow, fair. If you do it fast enough they will take loads of damage, and all of it will combo before the white pikmin does all is damage.

You usually don't wanna roll into DDD if you get Dthrown. I think you can DI straight up once you're at a high enough % (or maybe all the time, I'm not sure) and avoid getting tech chased. You also don't always have to get up right away. Maybe wait a second, then roll away.

Hope that helps =)

XD! Oh dear~! I'm so bad here! XP Thanks, guys~!! And yeah! I've gotten better at the D3 matchup! And I've gotten a lot better with Olimar in general~ Thanks to Wifi and a bunch of tournament play~ I actually have a new video so I'll post it in the critique thread~! :3
But I haven't tried to DI straight up so I'll see if that works? Lol! But other than that, yeah! Thanks. XP I managed to fix a lot of my flaws~

Does that trick also work with Kirby?

Edit: Nevermind...

I only got to watch one game so far and I picked video number three because I seen you had a 10%-87% combo. Just one little thing I noticed, at 2.08 you D Smashed DDD off the stage. You should have noticed that you had a white pikman next. You should have either A) threw it at him or B) whistled so that your yellow pikman was next for the attempted Dair. Although you missed so it didn't matter but I just wanted to let you know that since white pikman are horrible at spikes (even when the opponent is at a high percentage.) Other than that if you play a little bit more un aggressive your Oli is pretty decent. I'm in the same boat as you (I roll too much.) I also noticed when you try pivot grabbing you keep on trying to do it. Maybe try once or twice then move on with it if it isn't working. Keep it up though your Oli isn't looking too bad.

White Pikmin are horrible at any move which you intend on using to knock the opponent away, at all, ever. You don't need to specify spikes.
