That's why i said little to none knew about cloud as DLC which is good especially if since square enix is making leak bait plus everyone thinks it's Dragon quest and or sora including leakers and supposedly inders. Because if Dragon quest and Sora are the most passed around names they are most likely leak bait from square enix and Geno is less likely leak bait.
Oh my god that is really good news

Alright , I'm going to say something that is probably not going to be liked by many but ...

We're all sure we're getting a SE rep (because Vergeben) , and after several debates , Geno is the one who make the most sense. (DQ character and Sora just piss me off at this point. It's been talked to death , and we know why they are unlikely.)

However... What if the first DLC ISN'T a Square rep?

The first DLC will be at least february 2019. I don't see a lot of Big Nintendo games releasing at that Time (I know there is the M&L BiS remake in January but , if you know other games , tell me.) so I doubt we could get any Nintendo character except Bandana Waddle Dee , if somehow Star Allies get a fourth update.

If they aren't Nintendo/SE rep , who could the first DLC be?

Remember , this Time It's Nintendo , not Sakurai.

I don't see them going for the "PROMOTE NEW GAME MONEY MONEY" route right of the bat. People disliked Corrin because of that.
The first DLC must be big...

I honestly don't know who they could start with , but knowing Nintendo and Sakurai they could start with anything big to encourage people to buy the fighter pass , like a big third party.

I just want to remind everyone that , even if we think we're getting a SE DLC rep first ( because of valids and strong reasons ) we should know that there is the possibility that a SE rep could get completely ignored.

It's unlikely as hell at this point , but I don't want this thread to be depressed if we're getting no SE rep , and especially , no puppet boy.

This is more of a reminder than anything else. I don't try to stop the hype train , be a downer , or anything , but keeping this in mind is important. Hope you understand , and trust me...

I still think Geno is the most possible first DLC for a lot of reasons , and I would LOVE IT if he make it in , especially after how disapointed I was in the latest Smash direct.

The way Geno and Mallow would benefit Nintendo is that they are Nintendo characters who are owned by Square Enix, so they are the only two Square Enix characters that Nintendo would make money off of. Like I have said before, Geno is a safer bet business wise because Nintendo would benefit from him. Nintendo and Disney do not have the best relationship at the moment, so this makes Sora unlikely. Geno got a Mii costume in Smash 4, and Sora did not. It is also unlikely that Nintendo would refuse to add another Mario character to the roster. And, for the third time, Geno would sell better than Sora because he is more requested
Again, Nintendo wouldn’t benefit from Geno and Mallow unless there was a new game being made.

Again, Nintendo and Disney have as good a relationship as any two companies.

And again, it’s not a certainty that Geno would sell better than Sora, and even if he would, that’s going against logical business (the character most people know is the character most people are prone to buy)

But I’m tired of repeating myself, so unless you actually provide a counterpoint or actual evidence behind your claims, I’ll just stop replying.

This is true because most of Sora's fans are only PlayStation/Xbox players, while Geno's fans are Nintendo players from ages ago and today; it's common sense that Geno would sell more because his fans are literally from Nintendo.

Tell me, do you really think a PlayStation/Xbox Kingdom Hearts player would go through the trouble of buying a $300 Switch, a $60 game, and an amiibo that's probably gonna be worth over $40 due to Disney, just to play as Sora in Super Smash Brothers? No, they obviously wouldn't. I'm a Nintendo and Xbox player, and I can confirm that if I was an Xbox Kingdom Hearts fan, I would not go through the trouble of spending over $300 because of one third-party character in a Nintendo-published game.

That's like saying Mario made it in Killer Instinct, and I'm gonna buy an Xbox One and Killer Instinct for $40 just to play as Mario in Killer Instinct. Seriously, why would I do that? That's literally the same situation as Sora. Nintendo would make the right choice with choosing Geno because he would DEFINITELY sell more. We have Geno's large fanbase from Japan and the U.S., Geno's fanbase IS from and with Nintendo instead of Xbox or PS, and casual Smash players will buy his DLC and amiibo anyway; almost every casual Smash fan/player did it with buying the DLC and amiibos of Mewtwo, Roy, Lucas, Ryu, Cloud, Corrin, and Bayonetta. The same thing is gonna happen with the DLC characters in Ultimate, as well.
There’s also... the possibility of there being a ton of Kingdom Hearts owners that also own Nintendo consoles? A lot of important Kingdom Hearts games came out exclusively on Nintendo consoles. There’s certainly more potential there than there was with Cloud. And people can own multiple consoles.

I have already proved my point many times, Geno would sell better than Sora and Nintendo and Disney do not have a good relationship at the moment. This has been made clear many times in this thread, not just by me, so either reread all the posts from before and try to understand what we are telling you, or, like you said, stop replying

Banjo's and Geno being the first two dlc would be great.

There has been rumors of Banjo and Geno. But there has been rumors of their rival counterparts as well. Steve and (Dragon Quest).

We already diverged in the darker timeline between box and Grinch. Could the path go back towards the light, or plummet further into the abyss?

Just throwing this out there :

If Sora is in Smash , people will want to play KH1 to start of.

And did KH1 released on any Nintendo console? Nope. Same for KH2.

The only KH games on Nintendo consoles are handeld spin-off , with the last one beeing a 3DS near launch title.

If it was SE who decided who to pick , Sora make sense. But like , right now , Sora in Smash would be Bad for Nintendo OUTSIDE of DLCs sales , because KH MAIN ENTRIES aren't on Nintendo consoles , but competitors consoles. And if you want to start to play a New franchise , you'll most likely start with the first game.

Have you ever heard about "target audiences"? Also, sorry but I don't see any new game for Donkey Kong Country to bring back K.Rool. (yet)
Sorry but saying that they "wouldn’t benefit" is like directly ignore all the people who has been asking for Geno for more than a decade. Chill out.

Lmao, since when did ice climbers or mr. Gaming watch get new game when they were added lol. Anyways actually the 3ds games aren't spinoffs because they actually added to the main story in kingdom hearts 3.

My lord, it would be awful for two new unrequested DLC characters to make it as the first and second DLC, that's going deeper than an abyss, we'd practically be going as deep as the Mariana Trench. It's a bad start to a recovery after the final Smash Direct; that one really left a bad taste in my mouth, only because two base roster characters were left and it left a total disappointment to the Isaac and Shadow fans. Ken and Shadow were the only echo fighters I wanted, even though I was very happy to see Ken, I was so disappointed seeing Shadow as an assist trophy... it hurt when they showed Knuckles first, because it felt like Shadow was coming as en echo fighter next.

If we got Banjo and Geno, we would make a solid recovery from that Direct and be off to a good start with the DLC. Sakurai knows he disappointed a lot of fans, but he and Nintendo knows bringing fan-favorites as DLC will definitely make up for it.

Nintendo wouldn’t benefit from Geno, nor do they benefit from K. Rool. That’s not a reason to keep them out, I’m just refuting the guy that says they would.

I’ve been asking for Geno for over a decade as well, so I don’t know what that last comment was supposed to mean. I just think there are a lot of fallacies and overconfidence flying about.

Well, because Pit was added in Brawl, he somewhat revived the series and got a new Kid Icarus game 4 years later. Before Brawl and Kid Icarus: Uprising, his last game was on the Game Boy in 1991.

Yes, they would benefit from Geno, like we have told you numerous times in this thread. Also, I thought you said you wouldn't reply lmao

I said I’d stop replying to you. I’ll say this in the least offensive way I can, but I don’t feel like I’ll get anywhere in a discussion with you.

Then again, I did end up replying, so I guess I’ll bite. Why would Nintendo benefit from adding Geno?

tbh if the SNES Classic helped make Geno more well-known I don't see why Geno wouldn't benefit Nintendo in any way whatsoever.
It would certainly further Nintendo and Square's relationship and give them a potential jumping off point to work together on a project again. Just look at what happened to Pit, I certainly doubt he would have made a resurgence like he did if it were not for Brawl, or at least, not in the same way he did.

Of course they would , financially he would be a great pick from the ballot so not having a game doesn't matter because he is a fanservice DLC character. They would also make for square enix because they most definitely wouldn't allow him as base roster because they would get little to no money unlike DLC where they would benefit them way more. Plus square enix likes DLC options anyway for the MONEY.

Of course they wouldn't benefit from King K. Rool's character, it's because they own him. However, people are still going to buy his amiibo and it will benefit Nintendo. I'm even getting the K. Rool amiibo, but if Geno becomes an actual character, too, I will be getting the Geno amiibo and the Ridley amiibo as well, only because these three are the "impossible" characters and I'd love to have the holy trinity as amiibos.

It is because they, along with Square Enix, took part in creating him. For instance, Sora was created by Square Enix, but he is owned by Disney. Yes, most of the profit would go to Disney since they own Sora, but Square Enix would receive some of the profit as well. Square Enix owns Geno, and the profit of him would be split up between Nintendo and Square Enix

How would Nintendo not benefit from promoting a character that has proven to be popular among the hardcore fanbase for decades now whilealso introducing said character to newer customers who may have never had the ability to play the game in which he debuted? Especially considering said game is available on the SNES Classic which is widely available in stores all over the world? You really don't think kids would ask their parents for an SNES Classic if it meant they could play as a cool new character they just found out about? Geno making it in would be the definition of brand synergy which businesses love. Oh and K. Rool falls into the same boat considering he's in Donkey Kong Country which is also on the SNES Classic. Sooo....

But isn't your own overconfidence fooling you when you say that having geno wouldn’t benefit Nintendo? Isn't that like saying "Geno is in a 100%"?

No one here can confirm that the first DLC is gotta be Geno, but at the same time you can't just claim that it wouldn't benefit the company, it makes no sence, and you can't use it as an argument since you're not Nintendo and no one here knows what kind of standards did nintendo uses when choosing the DLC.

Why would Nintendo benefit from adding Geno?
Why would they not? Highly requested character, Fan favourite, whatever, even if it subjective. Also, in comparison with the "competition" Nintendo'd have to divide the profit just by two. Nintendo and SE.

Geno's chances to me are more a matter of process of elimination. It can't be another Final Fantasy character because all iconography comes from FF7, it can't be Sora because he's owned by Disney, and it's seeming increasingly unlikely that it's a Dragon Quest character due to the legal red tape involving the music and cost of acquiring a character not well recognized in the West. That's the three biggest Square series.

Which brings me to Geno, who has a diehard Smash fanbase willing to shell out for him, and a lot less legalities involved in acquiring him since he's such a smaller character, yet has a much larger profile than you'd expect.

Oh, sure, amiibo sales would definitely be a benefit. I meant something along the lines of why would Geno be considered particularly beneficial to Nintendo, since we could use any advantage we can get.

Just because Nintendo took part in creating Geno doesn’t mean they get royalties from him. Square Enix fully owns the character. Nintendo would get the same percentage of money from his DLC than they would with any other third party.

Do you really think Geno’s inclusion would boost sales of the SNES Classic? I dunno, it’s kind of a collector’s item for retro enthusiasts, not really something you’d have a kid asking for.

It’s not impossible, but it would take some deliberate and heavy handed marketing by Nintendo (‘You like Geno? Buy his game on the Virtual Console/SNES Classic!’)

If they were explicitly going for promotional picks, I’m not sure Geno would be their first choice.

But isn't your own overconfidence fooling you when you say that having geno wouldn’t benefit Nintendo? Isn't that like saying "Geno is in a 100%"?

When you say competition, do you mean the other potential Square Enix characters?

If so, Sora is also a fifty-fifty split between Disney and Nintendo. As for Dragon Quest, yeah, stuff gets complicated there. (Although there’s also the possibility that the suits at Nintendo think the massive sales in Japan would offset percentile losses)

But yeah, at the end of the day, we really don’t know what the nebulous that is ‘Nintendo’ will pick and their reasonings. I’m not claiming I’m right, just stating other possibilities with equal likelihood of happening, because I’m seeing a lot of circumstantial scenarios being thrown around as the only truths.

tbh if Nintendo were going for promotional picks only, they should choose their own characters, otherwise the benefits are mainly for the other companies, as said companies would receive most of the DLC profits I'd imagine (well, them and the devs).

That is a good point. Were K.Rool DLC then all revenue would go straight to Nintendo. Geno would mostly go to Square, though that's the same for all Square characters to begin with, and most if not all of the rational choices won't cost as much as Geno, who is already in the game.

It's worth considering that the reason we think there's a Square character (Squaracter?) at all is because of Vergeben and Imran Kahn, the former who is shaky with leaks and the latter who never outright said there would be a new character.

Well, they would not have to pay as much to get him in the first place.

For the Square Enix character, as I have stated before, Geno and Mallow are the only two that would benefit Nintendo, because they created the characters along with Square Enix. They have history with Nintendo, and they come from a game that was created by Nintendo and Square Enix. Geno would not benefit Nintendo if say he had his own game that was created by Square Enix, and then that game came to a Nintendo console. Since Nintendo and Square Enix created the character, the profit of Geno would be split up between those two companies

Geno is owned lock and stock by Square Enix, not Nintendo.

Well, they would not have to pay as much to get him in the first place.
Another thing that I've seen mentioned is that Nintendo might not want to court controversy overseas now that Koichi Sugiyama's reprehensible beliefs have become more public.

Vergeben isn't a shaky leaker. He has predicted everything correctly in Smash Ultimate so far

You mean because they already got the rights or because he’s obscure? Hmmm... Yeah, I guess that could make sense, but would that really offset the perceived lost sales from Geno being an obscure character?

As an example: Vaati (who might be owned by Capcom) might be cheaper than, say, Dante, but would that make up for the fact that Vaati might sell less?

No they don’t. Geno is fully owned by Square Enix.

Can someone else explain this to him? I get the feeling they won’t believe me just because I’m me.
