I hope so too just for the people who want him even if I don't care for him. He's probably getting in, being one of the last few big name characters from the past still not in yet. I just really, really don't think he's next, but I do think he will be this year's E3, otherwise next year's.

I was thinking he's not next but now I'm not so sure. He very well could be... hmmm...

I won't be. I'll be crushed to the point where I'd rather not have anything than a costume, given the time he's been in demand and speculated, plus the evidence (2 songs!!!). Plus if he's not added as a costume, he could always be in FP3/post-FP2 DLC. If he gets shunted to costume status, that's it for his chances.
Of course let's not lose hope Geno's chances are as good as ever, and we are supporting him as always.

It's already been almost half a year since the last one. It really doesn't make a lot of sense to keep this delayed for so long.

Maybe it’s my negative thinking, but what if they were to discontinue having directs through the year so there will only be 1 direct a year, and it would only be released during E3? Just a thought... man, this drought...

Hello people.

I'm gonna laugh my behind off if we don't get a direct announced tomorrow or sometime this week. We are 5 months away from E3. They have to announce a direct sometime soon. At least in March or April or otherwise they minus as well as wait until E3, by then half the year will be over with. I know this is Nintendo we are talking about, but they wouldn't wait until E3 right? This is getting ridiculous.

An idea for Geno's moveset.

Neutral attack: Punch, punch, kick (3 hit combo).

Flurry attack: Firing the Hand Gun repeatedly. It works kind of like Inkling's flurry attack.

Side tilt: Firing the Hand Gun.

Up tilt: Firing the Hand Gun at opponents that are above him.

Down tilt: Sweeping his leg across the ground in front of him.

Dash attack: Uppercutting opponents that are in front of him.

Neutral air: Doing a sideways spin while firing the Hand Gun in all directions.

Forward air: Punching opponents that are in front of him.

Back air: Uppercutting opponents that are behind him.

Up air: Kicking opponents that are right above him.

Down air: Stomping on opponents that right underneath him.

Side Smash: Firing the Double Punch.

Up Smash: Summoning Mallow and he'll swing his Froggie Stick at opponents that are above him.

Down Smash: Summoning Mallow and he and Geno will stand back to back and Mallow will swing his Froggie Stick across the ground in front of him simultaneously with Geno firing the Double Punch across the ground in front of him.

Neutral special: Geno Beam. Press and hold B and let go of B to fire a huge laser. The longer you hold B the more damage the laser will do.

Side special: Gero Whirl. Geno throws a disc at opponents in front of him. The disc has a 1 in 20 chance of KOing the opponent if the opponent is at 100% or higher.

Up special: Geno Flash. When used on the ground, Geno turns into a cannon. When he's in cannon form, use the control stick to aim in any direction and press B to fire shots from the cannon. The longer you hold B the larger and more powerful the shot will be. When used in the air, Geno will still turn into a cannon but he'll automatically shoot downward and the shot will recoil him into the air. The longer you hold B before firing, the larger and more powerful the shot will be and the higher the shot will recoil him into the air.

Down special: Geno Blast. Geno makes a laser fall from the sky and land in front of him. Press and hold B to make more lasers fall. The longer you hold B the more lasers will fall around him.

Grab: Geno summons Mallow and Mallow reaches his arms out to grab opponents.

Pummel: Geno shoots the victim with his Hand Gun while Mallow holds the victim.

Forward throw: Mallow throws the opponent.

Up throw: Mallow throws the opponent upward and then Geno uses his Hand Gun to shoot the opponent.

Back throw: Mallow tosses the opponent up in the air and then punches the opponent away.

Down throw: Mallow throws the opponent at the ground in front of him.

Final Smash: Geno fires his Star Gun at opponents in front of him. If the shot from the Star Gun hits any opponents, a short cutscene will play showing Geno, Mallow, Mario, Peach and Bowser ganging up and attacking all the victims who were hit by the Star Gun's shot. After the cutscene the opponents will be launched.

There's no freaking way they aren't gonna talk about AC at least once more before it launches, considering they've said very, very little about it.
There's no freaking way they aren't gonna show off anything about FP2 til E3 considering they've been selling it for 2 weeks now.
There's no freaking way they aren't gonna reveal the 2020 holiday title before E3, because they're gonna talk about it at E3 and a reveal at E3 + discussion doesn't give enough time to process the reveal then be ready for the discussion (see every Blizzcon reveal+discussion ever; it's all a bunch of hype that dies down almost immediately after Blizzcon ends).

I just don't see it happening. They might postpone the direct to next week, but I really cannot fathom not having any direct til E3. That would be insane for Nintendo to do, considering we know very little about this year's releases and they've already teased that "more is coming". If more is coming only at E3, they're basically admitting to abandoning Q1/Q2 almost entirely, with the exception of Animal Crossing in Marsh.

Post yfw no direct announcement tomorrow
GenoGuy.jpeg

Doesn't even need a Geno hat.

“The Direct is over and we’re left on a shot of the stars. We hear “GENO AWAKENS” slowly fade in as a star drops to earth. We see the star fly through many different locations from Mario RPG, until it eventually finds the Geno doll. The doll gets up slowly as we see a glimmering Smash ball in his eyes...”

I can dream, right?
Nonono, better idea! Galaxy brain, even! The Direct ends with then saying goodbye and leaving us with a cute little video for Valentine's Day. It begins with Mario and Peach walking up to the top of a mountain. They reach the top, and they exchange Valentines with eachother as a soft piano version of the Mario theme plays. The scene then shifts up to the starry sky above and fades to black... then it fades back in and we see a shine in the sky, which becomes a bright object that crashes down in front of them, knocking them back. Once they collect themselves, they take a good look at what - or who - it is. Cue splash screen, rest of the trailer, and so on.

Nah, a love song definitely needs to play instead, because it was prophesied by me as a child when I tried to pronounce Geno's true name: "Love Song!?"

In all seriousness, I think it'd be really cute if they recreated the Marrymore kiss scene for a dual Valentine's Day/Geno combo. Like they have the drum roll and then Peach comes from off-screen and kisses Mario (or even better if it was Bowser instead, haha), which then leads into Geno coming out and cheering them on (or laughing if Mario x Bowser). Enter splash screen.
While it'd be weird to have Geno debut for a "Happy Valentine's" kind of thing, he does have a heart in his true name, and I still think it would fit. Plus, Geno's not just all serious business all the time, he laughs and cracks some jokes throughout the game so it would give him some nice personality to start off with for people who don't know him (especially if it was the Mario kissing Bowser scene). Plus I'm sure Star Spirits experience love in some form, just as us humans do as well.

PS: This would also make me go from not ever giving a crap about Valentine's to associating it with a character I really like which might make me actually enjoy Valentine's just that much more. I'd also love to see all the stuff people would make of Geno specifically on Valentine's (not just this year, but every year!) because of this because I'm sure people would do it.

Nah, we need Geno being brought to life again and taking on them puppet fighters! That’s my prediction for a Geno trailer.

There has to be more Online announcements other than just those games. I think they're holding things back for the Direct.

This steady, continuous stream of tweets from the past couple of hours feels like... they might be getting the small announcements out of the way first. Regardless, tomorrow we'll just have to wait and see if we get the announcement or not.

Please though, let there be an announcement. Nintendo... PLEASE!

Haven’t they been getting rid of the small announcements for weeks now? This is getting ridiculous... it better be worth it

Oh sweet, I'm always down for more Cuphead! I wonder how the spirit battles will be represented?

Anyway, as I was gathering images for an unrelated post I was making, I came across a dialogue line I'd completely forgotten about. You know how most all fanart and fan renders of Geno make him out to be made of wood? Well, Bowser made this threat:

rpg9.jpg

Does this imply that Geno canonically is actually a stuffed doll, like with cotton or the like? Have we all been assuming his characteristics were more wooden and stiff due to his artwork when his properties are actually more fluid and expressive? Are his limbs different material to conceal the weaponry while his torso and head are stuffed with fluff? Does this change how you picture Geno in your mind and how he would fight?

...or is Bowser just bad at insults?

I dunno. Just something to chew on since I'm sick of Direct Watch 2020™

Considering Geno is made of wood to knock on, I think Bowser is just bad at insults. He probably doesn't have much knowledge on dolls, if any, despite kidnapping a living doll in the form of an actual princess named Peach.

Yooo I finally added a Geno hat. It's Geno man. :starman::starman::starman:
The other day I was actually brainstorming a scenario in which all the fighters within the Smash Bros. universe are defeated by a new threat (stronger than Galeem and Dharkon). Geno (star spirit form) descends and hovers over where the fighters lay defeated, and some of them soulless (since their spirits were taken by this new threat). He stops over Mega Man, who's offline. Seeing as Mega shares some similarities to Geno, he then possesses Mega Man, but upon doing so, Mega's exterior appearance changes. His helmet now has an upward diagonal spike, with the tip bent downwards. Around his neck, he now has a sort of cape-like adapter (with jets hidden underneath it), covering part of both shoulders. Geno (or Mega Geno for that matter :2gud:) flies off to face against the new threat, defeat it, and return the spirits to the fallen fighters.
