He doesn't seem to do a huge amount of facial ones, so it'll be fairly subtle, imo. I like that fake image where he tilts his head. I could see other small stuff, like him dropping his jaw when surprised. Basically use his puppetry to his advantage for animations.

So I think Geno is best with the color palette of his t outfits from SMRPG and two more to fill in the remaining alternate slots.

I think paying homage to other Mario RPG games makes sense but so does a Smithy Geno or a another way to look at it is base his alternate colors on the 7 star piece colors.

I wish I had a chart to share but I am on mobile.

Well, that escalated rather quickly... Again, I was just focused on the specific theories at play and not the rest, so bringing up the outside stuff from this context seemed counter-intuitive to just about everything.

Here's a question I'm not sure was asked before. How do you think they would handle Geno's levels of expressiveness?

I'd imagine they would use his eyes for a lot of subtle communications of expression in addition to also giving his sort of more full body reactions to certain things since he has a puppet can't really animate in more detailed individual ways. And hopefully they stick to Super Mario RPG sounds to add a little more flavor to his style. He's strangely the only character I can think of that I would prefer not to be voiced as well (outside of ROB for obvious reasons and he just makes his own sounds anyway) since I think it works better to play on the nostalgia of Super Mario RPG than to try to sort of "reintroduce" him in Smash.

That's a good point. The colors being references are neat, but they need to flow well without being super bright colors, etc. Contrast is important too. Not to say every costume is good *looks at Cloud, for cripes' sake*. Though I would expect your idea more than any cool ones cause SE has to agree to this stuff. To no surprise, some companies prefer the characters look like their normal selves as possible to keep them "iconic".

Look I'm only going to address this once because I really don't care for the Drama. It's almost Christmas and I'm sure tommorow and Wednesday is going to be busy for all of us.

Fatmanonice has been nothing but respectful and has always said he's just speculating I'm super grateful for all the information he's shared and he's one of the coolest guys on here, and really is the heart and soul of the Geno community on Smashboards. He'll be back but I hope he gets a break from all of this honestly for now he probably needs it. See you soon though Farmanonice we look forward to your return. So do I.

We came here to talk about Geno and look I get it this wait for news is torture at times. But hopefully it's almost over.

Let's just focus on our star boy and hope to the Star spirits the this does not happen again. Happy holidays everyone enjoy them and know hopefully news of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC awaits us in the future Geno's fate also something we will finally find out. Let's hope as a playable character yes?

Robertroid's pictures of Mario and Geno together makes me want to see a reunion of some sort in Geno's reveal trailer. With the reveal trailer being only a month away from the February release date (January seems like prime time for a reveal because Nintendo usually has a direct in January) it's possible that we could see a double reveal with Fighters 5 and 6. That would line up very nicely with the cacomallow leak and if we are to believe that post-pass characters will be more fan servicy, Geno would be a great start to the new line of DLC. I want his reveal trailer to feel grand, like a return of an old best friend. I want him to interrupt a battle as he comes down from the stars and kicks butt alongside Doom Slayer.

Sonic has a few good ones. The silver and dark costumes are cool. I even remember reading tournaments that forced players to use one of those two to not confuse who is who. Only time I really heard about this, but it makes sense to keep the battles non-confusing as is. Names do help, at least.

I feel like it would be a continuation of Ridley's reveal trailer. It makes sense since he's in space a lot and, you know, stars. Plus we got a continuation of K. Rool's trailer so this ain't farfetched. But I just realized that there would be no Mario and Geno reunion because Mario is legit dead in that trailer. Maybe it could be a sequel to Hero's trailer. I did have the idea of Doom Slayer's trailer having him take out the corrupted characters while they are surrounding the Heroes. Then, as a last shining beacon of hope, Geno comes down and gives everyone the reinforcement they need to take down the corrupted once and for all.

I've seen lots of people make cool alts in mods, like ones based on Blinky, Pinky, Inky, and Clyde, ones based on Erwin and Spooky from Pac-Man World, one based on Pooka, one based on Super Pac-Man from Pac-Man 2: The New Adventures, and one (drawing-only) that gave every alt aside from default a unique hat that referenced something from Pac-Man's artworks or characters (like blue had the feather cap from Pac-Land, and black had a hat that looked like Professor Pac's). At the bare minimum I'd at least want there to be more unique details than just "wing tips and wristbands". Of course, I have to agree that Cloud got shafted on alts too (my personal favorite is #3 because I saw Crisis Core before FFVII and so I like Zack Fair more).

Someone the other day suggested "Link and Samus" in reference to both of them making cameos in SMRPG, but I don't know if Link would be used in another trailer, having already appeared in Hero's. Off the top of my head the only trailer I can think of that reused characters in a CGI portion was Banjo & Kazooie, in reference to the Keith Rool trailer. I do think "Peach and Bowser" could work, as I don't think they've been in trailers aside from the "good versus evil" bits from the beginning of K. Rool and B&K. Of course, once they find Geno they're a party of three. Yes, I know parties in SMRPG have to have Mario in them, but roll with it.

Mega Man's are good, but I just stick with default because I like that shade of blue. A lot of the third parties in Ultimate are really good with alts, and I hope that continues because outfits are lowkey one thing about DLC that gets me interested (I was super looking forward to Banjo & Kazooie's alts even though I knew I was sticking with default, and DMed my friend pics of all 8 alts once we knew them lmao)

I just want want to say that Fatman was not innocent and not guilty. From the start he was saying that he recollected theories from many places to make the wait for Geno and other fighters shorter.

People PUSHED him a bit far I have to say and while he pushed a bit more than then, there's no excuse and no need to play him as the cause since he was just bringing up stuff and then stuff happened.

A pity. It would be interesting to see how Will the thread continue for some time. Either it looses steam, remains fine for just a bit or stays the same. It's anyone's guess really.

BTW, if any trolls get here after this or naysayers then we'll see if Fatman was the cause or if he wasn't and it was their fault all along.
