howdy gang- I've lurked in this thread for ages but decided to finally bite the bullet and make an account just to engage in the current conversation on this matter because things seem to have gotten interesting. Banjo-Kazooie was always my #1 since Brawl, but always took a backseat to Geno, as I viewed the former as an impossibility. Vishera's discord chat seemed confident enough in his explicit confirmation that he had found the fakers, and I don't believe he's a guy who'd just make stuff up. I'd love to be surprised, but that and Sabi's source are definitely not good signs at all.
I wanna touch upon one thing about the latter - Sabi's source saying they were not particularly confident the leak was real. Obviously that in and of itself is a bummer concerning the leak, but the implications of it are what have me a little unnerved. What specifically in the leak didn't line up with what they knew? Do they specifically know we are not getting Mii Costumes of Mallow and/or Cacodemon? Do they know we're not getting Geno or Doomslayer as characters?
Because a couple of those possibilities are not good for Geno, obviously.

First of all, welcome!

Second of all, we've had a leak from a source of PapaGenos' who correctly predicted a lot of Mii costumes back in July (like Rocket Grunt, a heck of a crapshoot guess to just luckily get, and the return of Zero and Protoman costumes), and among those were Smithy/Mallow/Chocobo. If anything is contradictory or just not ready enough for viewing yet, I'd have to take a guess that it'd be the DOOM material (Cacodemon or whatever else related).

One thing that I will say is I don't think PapaGenos would have made public that VRplant made a "prediction" if what they had said had been "bad news" (ie; Geno's ****ing dead). Saying that VRplant said anything is inherently a tease and he's probably well aware of that and, since VRplant isn't a public figure, Papa would be taking the full brunt of any backlash that would occur.

Two months ago people proved that they didn't even know who Terry was, despite his Engrish being the stuff of meme legend even if you have no attachment to fighting games. Just off the top of my head, this is kind of where I feel like we're sitting (this is moreso a general gist, not going to be super-detailed or anything, forgive me if I've missed anything crucial!):

* Currently, we have our eyes on about three different leaks that have some kind of precedent behind them for being 'real'. These three have some aspect about them that make them stand out from the thousands of fakes that are swirling around out there.

* There's the Mii Costume list that was leaked earlier this summer that made very accurate predictions regarding several costumes, notably of which were Goemon and the Rocket Grunt. This leak has the Mallow/Smithy and Chocobo costumes listed that have not been officially unveiled as of yet. Currently, eyes are on this to see whether or not the rest pans out accordingly.

* There's the text leak from the 29th of October that specifically points out November 6th as being relevant to Terry. So far, that's the only thing that makes it stand out, however, it mentions a few things that I find particularly noteworthy in light of recent information, specifically "Frogger" as an Extra character for DLC. This seems to mesh with an earlier statement from our own Fatmanonice who referred to a Piranha Plant-like joke/trolly character that people would appreciate.

* And of course, there's the costume leak from yesterday that is probably the hottest topic at the moment. So far, we've seen no real deconfirmation or debunking other than what are potentially just attempts at biting the leakers' style to claim credit for 'faking' the thing ahead of the inevitable reveal. At this point, testimony over the possibility or IMpossibility of modding the costume seems mixed, with some saying it can't be done, to some saying it can't be done -easily-, to others saying it can't be done at all. But, most importantly (albeit hilariously), what we have going for this leak is -Jiggly Mallow-.

The funny part about all of this is that if one particular leak of the bunch turns out to be true, it could very well validate all three of them at -once-. If we see ANYthing from the Nov. 6th text leak come true tomorrow, such as that Slipspace mode for Version 6, that would instantly give credibility to the original Mii Costume list, AND the Costume Leak from 4Chan.

I saw the PapaGenos Mii Costume Leak. Given the circumstances, and my beliefs on the legitimacy of the MallowCacodemon leak, the situation I'm hoping for is exactly what you've described- that the only thing the source knows is that DOOM content isn't on the radar.

I wanna believe the Mii Costume Leak, but again, it is only a text leak, and as unlikely as it is, it's entirely possible it's just an insanely lucky guess. I recall a 4chan post correctly guessing that Isabelle was the next revealed fighter in September that also claimed Dante was coming. Hell, the Frogger post correctly guessed the date of this character livestream, but I honestly doubt that's real as well. I know those are a LOT less convenient than correctly guessing, like, four costumes, but there are hundreds of "leaks" that are pushed weekly that are entirely bunk, and a few of those may have correct information unintentionally, even to a degree that seems like they have to have correct info. You know, think monkeys with typewriters.
There's also the possibility that this leaker, if it is a true leak, inserted incorrect information just because, you know, some people do that. There was a separate Dante smash leak that came with a bunch of correct info that appears to have been made up. Another 4chan post right before the reveal of the games correctly named the Pokémon Sword/Shield legendaries (which, without genuine insider info would actually be impossible) but insisted Banjo was not coming to Smash- the leaker clearly had gotten an early look at the direct and threw in misinformation, just to mess with people.
Given PapaGenos' affiliation for Geno, I could see it at least being possible that the leaker had real info and threw in those things just to mess with him.

What's my point overall?

Question, does TGAs or VGAs come first? I saw some people speculating that we could maybe see FP#5 at TGAs this year, but if that were the case, I don’t think it can be Doomguy. It would have to be somebody that appeals to Japan rather than a Western unknown (for them). They wouldn’t reveal post-FP DLC before the last fighter either because that would screw up the fighter ordering.

In that scenario, then, is it maybe possible that they’re debugging the Cacodemon and Mallow hats because Geno and Doomguy are both post-FP and they’re currently working on them, leaving the real #5 to be someone else entirely who’s farther along (along with their associated Mii costumes)?

I see. I know that is the stereotype and not targeted toward anyone in particular, but I'm considered a zoomer and I'm a Geno supporter. He is not in my top 8 wants, but I want him as well because of his cool potential moveset and his fans are incredibly loyal and passionate. How, exactly? We've gone over how there's a good possibility that the costumes are finished well in advance of the characters they come with, we have no idea when the videos, if real, were filmed, and even Papagenos' words have been echoed that people tend to take a leak as "the next thing" when it could be anywhere down the line. We're in a great spot if the costumes aren't shown tomorrow because it kills "premium costume" leak once and for all and lets Geno's chances exist more comfortably. Doom Guy too, if anyone cares.

Honestly, while not the worst case scenario, them being shown to come with Terry with no Geno costume in sight, would be the most confusing scenario. Until we get definitive proof or valid insider claim that it's just outright fake, we're sitting high up on the likelihood ladder.

It's been joked about as a possibility here before, but I'm pretty sure that when Sabi gets information back, it's gonna be "there's a part of the costume leak that lines up with what we've been hearing but some of it is a surprise and I can't say what".

Good morning everyone. Less than 24 hours we will see Terry's showcase. Also if any surprises. I do find that odd that Nintendo had to mention the fact that do not expect any new information regarding unrevealed fighters. They never bothered till now. Something is up their sleeves. If i had to guess on what the outcome would be is In Terry's showcase they do a massive reveal and state they were just kidding about no new unrevealed fighters. on a side note I know its a bit of a stretch maybe but lets not forget in Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS direct Sakurai said during the direct " What happened to Zero Suit Samus you say? Well she is not going to be apart of this iteration of Smash.........................................................................Just kidding. " So Kidding around is not unfamiliar with Nintendo. In case THAT does not happen my other guess - Terry Show case - etc.... Nintendo Direct incoming December with new info for smash OR Fighter Pass 1 closing Direct. Just my thoughts. Hype responsibly people - I want Geno just as much as all of you do. Honestly i feel good about Geno - its just a matter of when......

What happens? Well, nothing really. If they're absent this presentation, everything's basically as it is right now. You have to remember that not all things that get leaked are what's coming next, a lot of times these leaks happen several months ahead of time. Take Vergeben with Erdrick for example. His info was spot-on, but he incorrectly assumed that he'd be the first Fighers Pass character. Also, PapaGeno's source listed those costumes several days before the Hero presentation, and while none of them were revealed then, the information he provided still turned out to be legit, at least for 4 of them. Game development is a long and arduous process. Just because we're seeing these costumes in action now doesn't mean they're definitely coming next. It might be at least a good 4 months before we even officially hear about these, so I wouldn't worry about it.

I hope the leak is real because the costumes appear to be in testing if it is. Since Sakurai’s team works on multiple things/characters at once, and I’m sure their packs’ stuffs as well, there’s no reason to think the mii hats have to be released tomorrow if the leak is real.

I was about to bring this up. Why is Nintendo so adamant on telling us that no news on new fighters is coming? They didn't do that for the last 3 DLC fighter showcases.
