As a quick footnote, I do feel it would be in everyone's best interest (and so that we can bring as many people as possible) that the people that need to head back Saturday all pool in one car.

Just to clarify, my car leaves NC on Sunday morning.

With that said, perhaps we should do some passenger shuffling (e.g. BigLou stays in Rayku's car the entire time, so that one spot is freed up for one more person to go.)

Running the numbers on total gas per head, it's likely going to be around $25.

I'm driving 6 extra hours in my car to NC and back compared to the rest of GA.

My gas prices from estimation are around 10$ per person in my car.

You mean to tell your passengers that you will be driving less than I am and charging them more?


I am leaving Friday, and I am returning Saturday night.

If Lounis or DruggedFox need to come back Saturday night or don't feel like being extorted, we could switch passengers.

Although, I'd feel guilty about having 2 of my passengers being ripped off if we exchanged.

I have 5 passengers in my car, so its 10$ per person.

The only way gas could cost 25$ per passenger is if there were only 2 seats, or your MPG is pitiful. I doubt people are driving Hummers and Lambos to smash tournies.

Because I knew this would happen, a quick gas break down.

It's 267 miles from Tech to the venue.
It's 12 from the venue to Snap's.
Oh, lest we forget that I have to come from Athens to pick everyone up...add another 67 miles.

Add all three, then double it. I got 692.

My tank holds 11.9 gal, which means I go, we'll say 357 miles on a single tank.

Dividing the two means I need two tanks worth of gas.

Average for GA & NC gas, $3.49 (I went on gasbuddy.com for that.)

3.49*12=~42.

42*2=84.

84/4=21.

Oh wait, it's extortion, obv.!

Again, you still forget there must be some form of compensation for my taking everybody there and back, as well as my time & energy spent to pick everyone one up, and the additional miles I will need to drive.

With all that factored in, it would mean two things:

1) An extra four bucks a head, OR
2) As a simple way of assessing a convenience fee, I keep the miles traveled to the post above, and just remove myself from the gas equation. Meaning that gas would be split amongst four, not five, people (which, surprise, is still $4 a head extra.)

I think that sounds fair, what say you?
