I tell you, the uses for an up angled Fsmash are so numerous it makes me sick. For one, it kills only 20% shy of THE UPPERCUT. This is ludicrous. We just recently discovered you can do a sliding Fsmash. Put simply, you can spam this move so fast, change direction on a dime, and kill at gaaaaay low percents. I don't know how to put it, but in order for Luigi to climb the tier list anytime soon , we need to abuse the crap out of this move. What makes this move so good is the minimal amount of risk involved.

What I have started to do is this. Spam the heck out of the Dsmash, its fast, does fine damage, and works great out of an airdodge, jab combo, or anything really. The reason I say this is because quite frankly it doesn't matter how stale you make the Dsmash, because your Fsmash should be your primary kill move, and we can't let that get stale. Once my opponent hits 70% (often after two "combos") I simply start throwing around the Fsmash wherever I see fit. People get increasingly scared, and even make uppercut opportunities easier.

I know I am only repeating information you are already aware of, but I don't know how else to get across to you guys that you must use this move to its full potential. After playing a lot over the weekend, I almost want to say its plain broken, and I NEVER, EVER say a move is broken (barring MK of course).

Please use Fsmash more.

Not to mention it kills even sooner if your opponent is airborne. Even sooner than that if you're on a platform.

yea the sliding F -smash is amazing. I actually use Up angled F smash and HAVE used it ever since I started playing Luigi. The only downside is that the range is shorter so u have to get a little closer... BUT the ending lag is shortened making it nearly if not already unpunishable. It's a great habit to get used to, but never forget that regular F-smash has a bit more range just in case u find urself sliding backwards and want to throw out an F-smash... dont angle it bcuz the range for an Up angled F smash is the worst smash range from ANY character in the game. Still satisfying/rewarding to land it though ^_^

I'll be using Up-Angled Fingerbangs and Up-Angled fSmashes a lot more. I've just gotten so used to Hyphen Smashes... I really have to kick the habit.

a fingerbang is the sliding F smash. just have a creative name to it.

and in case you were wondering how to do a sliding f smash u have to walk, then do a f smash with A and the control stick and quickly charge the move with z instead of holding A. at least thats how i do it, whenever i do do it, which is never.

is it just me or is the sliding on the fingerbang very minimal

EDIT: actually i take that back the sliding is quite good on this. lol
i must have been doing it wrong before.

But Smashing with A instead of C-Stick, you stop waking just before the smash. That might cut the distance you slide considerably.

EDIT: Oh, and you Pivot Fingerbanging might be impossible using the A to Smash.

oh ok lol, I just walk at his fullest speed and c stick - z charge... I walk the distance I think I need depending on the situation. But yea Luigi's F-smash breaks mountains =)

Lol. This is like my Nair thread. Tbh, Fsmash mostly revolves around having IASA frames, able to kill majority of the cast on 80%~90%, but short ranged. Tbh I don't think it's the hope for a change in the metagame or future.

You really are underestimating the move, hippie. It comes out with the range and speed of a jab but the power of a thousand gods.

If you were to compare the power of Luigi's f-smash to about what it would be in real life...it would be the equivalent of poking your friend in the stomach whilst yelling, "WAH!" and for some reason this knocks him two football fields away.

Are you sure that it's the sliding Fsmash and not finding out new ways to abuse Luigi's low traction? I don't know how much playing around has been done with regards to his low traction, but it is focusing on something inherently Luigi and trying to make use of it.

But I don't know a whole lot since I've been busy with college and my Luigi has stagnated a great deal.

Yup, Luigi's poor traction comes to his advantage. Can give a good surprise to someone normally out of range.

Could somebody explain exactly how to do the Fingerbang?
Walk forward at full speed. C-Stick fSmash and immediately hold Z to charge the Smash. Luigi slides forward from the walking speed as he charges the Smash, extending his fSmash range. You can Pivot Fingerbang/Pivot Sliding F-Smash by fSmashing backward instead.

If you grab or do an uncharged fSmash, you didn't pull it off.

yeah, that fingerbang technique works really well with link's up smash, running>c-stick forward>hold/press z -up... really really hard to master but very effective with link's big range and high KO potential.

That sucks, I use C-Stick for tilts. Ah, well, I guess I'll just change it. Awesome tech, by the way. Is it like charging Luigi's F-Smash in the ice part of PKMN Stadium 2? Because I usually pick that stage just to abuse that...

I always fsmash twice. Similar to MK players and how they dsmash twice very often, connects a lot more than you would think due to opponents rushing in trying to get a grab after the first one. Really hard to punish as well so I use this frequently.

I don't know about all this metagame-changing stuff. Fsmash does have Godly power and all, but the range just holds it back. Against the characters that you really need it against(Marth,MK,DDD,G&W,Snake), they can usually easily outspace you and have no fear of being hit with it.

uhh yeah.. except thets just hyphen smashin..

you can do that by runnign and just smash attacking up. don;t need c stick and z.

That's called DACUS and yes you do slide a lot further. Extremely useful for Sheik, Wolf, Snake, Falco, and Link.

marsulas is right, that's a DACUS. Luigi's Fingerbang is different and performed differently.

DAC = Dash, C-Stick (any direction but up), Up+Z
Fingerbang = Walk, C-Stick Forward/Backward, Z

Sorry to bump this again but does the fsmash have IASA frames. I swear it does or else the move just has a ridiculously low cooldown time.

Is it me or am I the only that uses the v-Angled forward smash when edge guarding opponents that are below the platform?

God I hate this move. The moment you hit 65-80%, you're dead from this move. It's almost comically powerful for the speed and animation that comes with it.
