there was a video where some dude got a double fair hit edgeguard in a Fox ditto

aside from that, it's pretty much impossible to get enough momentum to hit twice with it, unless whoever you're fighting is dumb enough to DI right into you

i think you could reverse fair (just the first hit) and have it combo into dash attack or maybe grab

it's a good sub for the nair when you need a little less knockback, like comboing at higher percents, or fair->shine at a little higher percent than a nair would work.

i've gotten a couple shffl'd fairs -> spike with falco a couple times, just experiment, it has its uses, though its more of just a choice to mix it up with, it isn't too often the fair is the best option haha.

doesnt it hit lighter and higher than the nair?

i've seen foxs (and falcos) use sh fair to string in combos where sh nair would have missed or been too strong

It's just one of those moves you occasionally throw out, and it works. Like d-tilt for example.

I wouldn't call it anything serious, but if the moment seems right; why not?

It is also the attack with longest range if you are jumping back to the stage from the ledge. The opponent should have high % though...

i heard that in theory if you could time your fair perfectly, fair shine shield pressure would be better than nair shine shield pressure. i dont remember if this was fox or balco

the thing about fox's fair is that it probably has like a handful of situations where it's noticeably better than nair, but it would take so much brain space to know that. like, if you're looking for places to use fair you're just going to be concentrating on the wrong things instead of nairing, and nobody knows when fair is best so you can't just memorize a couple corner cases and use it in those, either... i think it's pretty safe at this point in the metagame to never fair on purpose. you're not missing out on much by avoiding it and you're saving yourself a lot of trouble by just never having to think about it.

CunningKitsune says a good way to use fair is to SHFFL it but only let the second hit connect so that there's a higher KB and damage. Or something like that. It was from his guide, of course. P: I haven't tried it out. It's too silly for me to try, lol

^This guy has a point.

IMO, the way I see it, it's a crappy nair that COULD be used at higher percents to combo.

Edit: I didn't know that you can shffl fair and hit with the first two kicks of it.

Fair is good for when you die, you can fair as you're falling and claim that's why you died
But seriously, fair can work... but not very often.

The only time I use it is when I'm moving forward in the air and about to use a Nair, and I acidentally press A before I let go of my stick

Haha, Sorry Raynex just couldn't resist. Fair would be so much cool if I hadn't died off the side on accident while doing that move so many times.

I think f-air is the silliest looking move Fox has. Especially when you see yourself doing it while plunging down into the depths of FD.

i like doing it from ledge SOMETIMES because opponent won't expect as much as say a dair.

i find it works especially well when you are combo-ing bigger characters like ganon but don't use it too much lol

U-throw Fair U-smash vs other FFers or U-throw Fair Fair/Nair/Bair sometimes combos at high percents if they DI bad, sometimes into the early hundreds because of how weak Fair is.

Other than that (combo stuff at high percents vs survival DI) it's pretty useless or super super super situational.

Falco's is the one that's possibly useful for shield pressure if you were a robot.
