Oh, sorry. :(

Was cruising the site just today, haven't done so in a while. I also skipped the last few pages in here or so, going to go back and read them.

Alright, I'm gonna throw in some of my stories here:

1) Back in High School, we would play Smash 64 in our music teacher's room all the time, particularly during lunch. One time, I wanted to play, but I had just put a hotpocket in the microwave; I was craving Smash so much that I decided I would play with one hand, the other hand always holding the hotpocket. I decided to use my left hand to play because then I can use the joystick and reach out to press A and B. Sometimes, I couldn't reach the button, so while I was chewing I would smash my nose onto A or B to do aerials (mostly just Nairs though). I actually managed to win that match, but I was playing against someone who never played the game before, or very little. It was a pretty even match overall.

2) Also back in High School, I decided to trashtalk someone and told them I could win a match by playing on my back, looking at the screen upside down. It wasn't so bad at first, but I would consistently fastfall thinking that I would jump into the wild blue wonder only to end up in a smash attack that should have missed by a mile, and the same would go for recovering back to the stage. Left and right orientation are much easier to deal with. I remember losing that match, mainly because I refused to lie there anymore and so forfeited, but I also was playing against someone who was decent, unlike the person in the hotpocket-facesmashing story.

3) Recently, I was headed down to Slidell/NO area of Louisiana for a weekend. I wasn't sure if I would make it, but I decided to post in the Louisiana thread here and challenged Lee Martin (for all intents and purposes, the best smash player in the state) to a $5 MM in 64 only (I know he can obliterate me in Melee and Brawl, having done so in tournaments). However, 64 is MY game of choice and he plays a very boring, effective Falcon (uair chains). I ended up calling off the MM due to not being sure if I would make it down to BR until the last minute and I didn't want him to wait around for me whatsoever. I ended up making it to the BR tournament and we hooked up our 64 that we brought. I did NOT challenge him to a MM on the spot though. I decided that 1) 5 bucks isn't important to me and 2) I would make up for it at a later date/time when it would be more "fun". Fast forward to another tournament where 64/Melee/Brawl/Mario Karts were supported and I told people I knew (friends and acquaintances) that if Lee shows up for the tournament (he did, though he ran a little late) then I will enter the 64 tournament and probably go up against him. We all knew that I could probably take him so it was going to be a nice surprise for Lee, who probably suspected that he would win every Smash event. I basically was smashblocking him from winning everything, very devious.

In the round before Finals (was only single elimination, sadly), I have to go up against Lee. I was playing Melee friendlies and I said "ok, I'll be there in a second." I walk over to plug in (<3 blue controller) and there is already a crowd waiting to watch the match. It was pretty hype for a secret confrontation. He didn't really know who I was, didn't know I was some random guy who MM'ed him on these boards. We sit down to play and I decide to go Fox against his Falcon. He ended up losing 2-0 and I took the tournament, no problem at all. Lee got kinda salty about it, and I ended up making it into Melee Finals (also single elimination, only Brawl was double because it had a huge draw) which was not hard; I honestly got the easy side of the brackets. The video is actually on my youtube page for all to see. He destroyed me 3-0 and then he felt pretty good about life. He ended up winning Brawl as well.

It was a lot of fun to shock people at that tournament. Some of Lee's friends are still convinced he is the best at 64. I didn't MM him in the end, but I did take the tournament winnings away from him and made him look kinda scrubby in 64. Next time, I am planning to use full force and establish myself 100% as the best that LA has to offer. It should be loads of fun.

No MM's until you pay your outstanding debt brah

And yo Sheer + Tank you guys should come to FC with your boy Eikelmann this summer! There's a 64 tourney so we could meet in bracket AND do mad MM's.

Matter of fact, FC should be the community's next big 64 thing.

FC hmmmm. SuperSmashBros on the N64?! =D I know me and E-kel are down, and then there's Sheer... But it won't be a long drive so he might be game. What's the date/thread link. I don't wanna have to SEARCH for stuff.

Now we just have to work on the timing and funding. hmmm.

I thought we were gonna hug? Is it back to punching now?

And yeah, FC (which stands for "For Cash," by the way, so we're back on topic) has 64, it's legendary, the last one had 64 participants (FC-Diamond-you guys remember) and everyone should come.

OK fine, we'll hug first and proceed to box each other.

Well, you're clearly promoting it because it's in the Midwest and you're going, but I agree. Should be the next big thing. Not that I'm showing up or anything :troll:

MELEE-FC is a legendary series of tournaments from way back in the day run by the Ship of Fools. It's looking like the biggest melee/brawl event of the summer and I don't see why we shouldn't get our 64 fix there, considering how they're running 64. It's August 12-14, which is sunday-tuesday, which is jank, but they claim that since they've always run thursday-saturday, it's no different... we don't yet know which day 64 is on.

the last FC got 64 64'ers, just like apex, so, y'know, history. Also these have the rep of being well-run tourneys and if we get on it early I don't think 64 will be shafted for TV's or whatever.

It's in Indiana, which means I could drive there, which means I am not at all biased.

Combo I can probably get you a ride with my crew/you could prolly get one with chicago's meleers.

yeah but you'll win $600 or whatever like you always do

don't lie they've been paying for themselves

If you don't make your plane money back I'll do a "Money match" with you for like $30 there, maybe a couple other peeps will too. The cash can be worked out.

$600? I kind of doubt the prize money for 64 is that large. I guess the MMs can add up though.

LOL, cargo van? Legit. That's actually pretty cool. People need to do that more for tournaments. Don't have a ride? Get on the SMASH VAN and let's GO.

Battlecow, I hope you know we'll be doing MM's at FC. We'll probably do some before then too, but those won't count as much.

FC looks cool (where's smash 64?), but Sunday to Tuesday is stupid. What are people who have to work supposed to do? I'd be willing to go on Sunday if people are going and Knite has room in his car and isn't coming back too late (I'm going to be living/working in chicago from June to mid-August).

Also battlecow will be put in his place this weekend.

Hey boom I'm staying at a friend of mine's house (Pseudoturtle, melee dude, lives in Chicago/goes to school in champaign) the night before and he'd be ecstatic if you stayed, I'm sure; a couple of 64 guys will be there along with a melee crowd.

Also the backlash to sunday-tuesday is making them maybe reconsider and I'm not sure what day 64 would be on but I'll try to push for early.

Also Firo will be put in his place this weekend.

This seems potentially very funny, but I feel like I'm missing something.
That guy is KoreanDJ, one of the old Melee greats (Sheik/whoever the f*** user)

He was known for offering money matches to basically everyone.

I've gambled quite a bit on Smash64, mostly with friends. We play poker for a living so we gamble on pretty much everything. I'm not quite as good as most of the people here, but I was always the best out of my friends. Our matches eventually evolved into playing time matches and paying based on increments of score, usually $20 per kill/point unless someone got super stuck. I usually had to play every character once to compensate for the skill advantage. I've since played online some and have improved dramatically.

There still might be a large untapped goldmine of easy money to make in team matches against other poker players. A couple of years ago there was some interest on poker forums about organizing smash matches at one of the big poker tournament series.

Does anyone live in or near Vegas? If I could organize some matches, I might need a partner. If it went down at all it would be in June or July.
