What are some places to eat in your local area that are exclusive to your area, that you have found to have some really awesome (and/or bad) food? What is the place called? Why would you (or not) recommend it to someone else?

There WAS a little diner in downtown Decatur called "Maw's Place", but I think it shut down... It had great food, friendly service, and no crappy music bursting your eardrums and melting your brain. -_- There's also a place called "Jone's Street Restaraunt" nearby, which is pretty much the same, though a bit bigger. I don't know if either of these places are restaraunt chains or not since, y'know, introverts are cool like that.

But, um... I'll take my own damn table any day.

Well, there is a place called "Eegees." It is similar to Subway, sandwiches and such. The main trademark of Eegees though, are their slushie drinks. They are called, obviously, Eegees, and they come in dozens of flavors, really, really good, but also refreshing :)

I believe they are branching out, too. They used to be Tucson, AZ exclusive, but I believe they are moving into the Phoenix region as well.

The Red Apple Buffet. Chinese/American buffet, food is hit and miss. Honestly, I mostly hit up the American side of things. Also, I tend to take around 20 fortune cookies, because I'm greedy... The Red Apple is a great way to come out of the bathroom with a burning rectum. But shoving your face with all the food you want is worth it.

Well there's a place nearby called Nick's Lobster. It's like a Red Lobster but not as nice of an atmosphere. They give you bigger portions though for a little less of the price. i mean I really like it because Nick's takes 10 minutes to wait for and Red Lobster you can wait for hours.

Awwww yeeeahhhhh Chico's.

If any of you ever come through El Paso, Texas you have to stop at one of these places. Absolutely amazing, even though they probably ignore a few dozen health codes.

They even talked about it on food network! :D

At UT, there's a lot of places to eat...some chain places, while others are local. I must say though, one that does stand out is Tapioca House for well...their Tapioca. Go there every Saturday night. Several flavor selections, and they even serve food.

If not that, Hoa Hoa. Asian food for a nice price. Get plenty of food, and there is a variety of items to pick from...all very good.

I live in a swampy area, so we have a lot of cajun cooking restaurants that are delicious.

I also have a rule of "no franchises" on vacations just so I can try new stuff.

What if it's a franchise that you don't get in your area?

For example, when I went to California this Spring, I tried In-N-Out Burger because we don't get in in Wisco and because of all the good things I'd heard about it.

Herbs Tavern. They make some of the best burgers in the Cleveland area (Minus Fat Heads since they're technically a chain. TECHNICALLY. I recommend Fat Heads as well though). It has a kinda homey atmosphere since it's a smaller restaurant.

Stampers is also really good. It's an Irish Grill and Pub run by a local family. Everyone knows each other there xD They have some awesome food, the atmosphere is friendly, theres always sports on every TV (and the projector screen), and the owners are awesome. The chicken tenders are amazinggggg <3

And Melt. Melt is delicious. They were featured on the travel channel before :o Man vs Food I think.
Basically, it's a grilled cheese place. Except they go crazy and make awesome sandwiches of cheesey goodness.

Fredrick's Diner. The food is great, it's a short drive from my house, buffets every other day. Man, I wish I could go there more often.

The place I work at called Mario's Restaurant has some pretty bangin' cheese steaks, pasta, hoagies, chicken, fries and pizza

Everything, really

A bunch of the stuff is a bit pricey, but it really is worth the extra few bucks

There's a place called Bill's Pub. They serve pizza

The food is pretty good I guess, but it's definitely my favorite atmosphere of any restaraunt around here. It's decorated like a hunting lodge; they have all kinda of taxidermied animals and fish hanging on the walls, and stained glass windows of nature scenes. The doors to get in are huge wooden doors and the door handle is a chain.
They give you free peanuts, and you just throw the shells on the floor. The tables have peanut shells built in around the edges and glazed over.
And they have arcade games (they have South Park pinball!)

makes me feel like I'm in Alaska or something :awesome:

I recently went to a fair, and there was a stand called "Sausagefest"(srsly). But they had some nom-able polish sausages and slushies of some sort.

I tried this place called Five Guys last night, and I was impressed. It's one of the better burger places in Baton ROUGE IMO.
