LOLWOW well i guess you could look at it like that, but as soon as the next one happens, and then the next, and then the next one, that standard will have been broken many times, and the game will be played much differently.

I hate pseudo-intellectual idiots. You're wrong, stop breathing. So because of what happens in an inaugural tournament means that's what has to be expected for future tournaments? See your logical hole yet?
If it's the job of people like you to randomly come in and try to be right for the sake of being right (ever see Clerks?), then it's my job to come in and point out how much of a waste of life you are.

I may start having brawl-weeklys for this month.
Dedede, capt olimar, ganon, yoshi, dk, mario, game & watch, kirby, samus, ice climbers, ness, lucas were not used at all.

It doesn't take an English major to figure out what that means: exactly what you said! We have just set the standard for what competitive play is. Ergo, [Sunday at Oscar's house] was the standard for what competitive play is. Maybe you don't know what standard is:
1. something considered by an authority or by general consent as a basis of comparison; an approved model.
"Basis of comparison." So you really think the games played on Sunday are the basis of comparison for the rest of Brawl's life as to what "competitive" gameplay is, and/or should be? You said it, not I; don't try to weasel out of it or play semantical games.
What is to be "expected" from Brawl's competitive play during the next one / five / ten / etc. years? Whatever, I don't really care, but it surely isn't what happened on Sunday. Both you and Ronin's statements were horrendously stupid and unequivocally wrong. Get over it and move on.
Or you can keep up this worthless semantical argument, because I will if you will. I love playing semantics. If I can't win at smash, might as well win at semantics.
