I have a question...

Why is it that whenever i Dair someone....they go left or right instead of down?
There's a hitbox on the side of dair... I'm hesitant to call it a sweet spot since the damage is the same regardless, but the sweet spot on a dair is relatively small (for a spike anyways). The sour spot is away from olimar, whereas the sweet spot is right below and close to olimar

you know i've seen that you can't knock people off and grab the ledge with the pikmin tether (up+b) but i've been practicing and was being edge hogged and after the invincibility frames wore off (i was under the ledge) i up b'd and knocked the person off and grabbed the ledge. so is it just sometimes this happens or what?

i've done it a few times now. 3 or 4 times when under the person. possibly it works better when below the person?

Were you so close that Olimar actually grabbed the ledge, not the pikmin chain? Because I guess I could see that happening.

even then, he would still be in the attacking animation wouldnt he? Causing him to merely pass the ledge by? It doesnt seem to make much sense.

i was below by about a character length so it wasn't olimar that grabbed the ledge but the pikmin. but i'm wondering if using the tether to go straight up instead of at an angle changes things?

Tether wont travel straight upwards if the opponent is hanging onto the ledge. It'll go the regular diagonal direction.

Your opponent probably just dropped from the ledge for some reason right before you tethered.

Very old. I almost commented on it, but then I realized how dumb youtubers are and how much I didn't care about the people that think oli is "cheap"

edit: sudai beat me :/

In regards to the tether thing, your opponent probably just dropped off a fraction of a microsecond before you let the tether go. You probably didn't realize they dropped off because it was kind of a "bang-bang" play.

Hey guys guess what.

In teams, if Olimar is doing an upthrow, and he gets interrupted, the Uthrow animation will still go, but Olimar will be able to do anything. So check this out:

I was testing this a couple nights ago. I grabbed my opponent, then had Falco shoot a laser at me right before I did the Uthrow. I got hit, and while the Uthrow animation was going on, I was able to do an upsmash.

Most of Olimar's super AT's are situational, and this is definitely no exception. But regardless, if some genius out there can figure out a way to have Olimar release himself from the Uthrow animation without outside help, that would raaaape.

Fino, I need to send you this.

Ok I need someone to just confirm something for me...

Playing against my friends as Olimar is always fun, but something I have noticed is that sometimes I seem to actually get hit OUT of my spotdodges/airdodges. This only happens when I play Oli, and I was wondering if anyone had frame data for his spotdodge?

My buddy and I went into practice and slowed it down, and when we did the spotdodge the white flashing effect that means you are "dodging" did not actually show up till about a second into the dodge (in slowest mode). Maybe I just fail at spot dodging, but if he does have bad dodges could someone confirm?

He does not have especially good dodges, rolls, etc. His rolls are pretty bad actually.

His rolls, dodges, shield, etc are all crap. I've come to realize Olimar is the biggest "all or nothing" character in the game. He is either ****** because he has the perfect lineup of pikmin and he got in some lucky shots, or he gets hit off the stage, gimped, and dies. What a stressful character we main.

covers his body completely and even when it degrades it doesn't leave that much open

But he's forced in it so much that it is not unreasonable for it to degrade very quickly. Not as bad as d3 though, agreed.

are you serious, olimars roll is pretty average but good anough to use alot, his spotdodge is good enough if you time it right, and his shield, well, just don't abuse it and thats no problem

Olimar's roll is not that good, it's pretty slow. Actually, it may be better to pivot grab in most situations where you might roll. And you shouldn't use rolls a lot at all anyway. His spotdodge is decent, but it isn't too good though. This is why he can't spam it like some chars can, so fast attacks can force him into his shield, which isn't too good.

this^

i was playing at a tournament yesterday (Hobo 15) and i started off this one match where i had a 50% combo but got knocked off the stage just enough 2 stocks in a row and got gimped both times. i knew i had the match from the beginning but getting gimped twice is just freaking hard to win against so i ended up losing :( its a love/hate relationship with oli.

To me, it's a love relation with oli, but a hate/sometimes love relation with the pikmin. Srsly, can they just listen to orders like....all the time? Instead of most of the time? Come on now.

^Very true

I've had numerous people ask me to teach them Olimar, and so I tell them "just throw **** and grab and mash your Cstick til you win, oh yeah and don't get hit off stage, ever." They start with it, instantly get frustrated, and stop. When I think about it there really is a LOT to keep track of, but it's become really second nature to me at this point. Most people just don't even wanna keep track of their line.

Yeah I got gayed big time yesterday, I had to play a random Falco, and twice in the same match I tripped into the chaingrab, and I my 3rd stock on one of them when I was winning, and then I was tripping EVERYWHERE in the 2nd match and it led to so much bad **** when had I not tripped I coulda landed some nice combos. As much as I love smash it can be a really awful game.

Why would you get banned for posting that when I can easily move your post and give you a verbal warning? If it had be actual spam or something, yeah, you'd be banned. :p

Think what you want, but I didn't infract him because Fino originally made that post in his own thread and the only infraction I could give him would be flaming(not flaming if it's true) or replying to spam/regular spam(but he wasn't spamming in context to the original post and he's no longer replying to spam.)

It's not like I go around looking to infract people, ya know.

As for the whistle, I'm more interested as to where the super armor is at.
