I don't believe I said "You guys are stupid" in any shape or form. Not trying be close minded here because if what I'm saying is wrong oh well, you can just test out all the Final Smashes on training mode(assuming they are a item).

@ Mookie:

You seem to be assuming that a Final Smash is some super powerful ultra mega mega smash attack that will obliterate everyone on screen and will totally destroy the balance of the game if it can be executed more than once. I don't think they're really as powerful as a lot of people are assuming. I think it will be about as powerful as a hammer, maybe slightly moreso, and a bit less powerful than some of the legendary pokémons that show up in Melee. In fact, I would expect their frequency to be about the same as a legendary pokémon.

Maybe Sakurai does indeed intend for the Final Smash to be used just once per match, but I don't see why he would. It would be a mistake imo.

I think that one time use means the same one-time-use as a bomb has. You throw it, and it's gone. Or even a flipper. You throw it once, and it stays there.

There are many suggestions as to the meaning of 'once'. The only one that would work without people being unable to physically grab the **** item and wait for it to fall into enemy hands is the:
- You use it, and poof! It's gone! Wait until it pops up again!

Also, there is
- Once per life per person,
- Once per game
- Once per Wii Console
- Once for every solar eclipse since 1 A.D.

But as I said, if you look at it logically, what happens if all the people, or even ONE person has used the smash ball, and he CAN'T TOUCH IT/USE IT?!

That means there's an ungrabbable item that's bouncing around. What if someone's waiting it out? That means there's idiots all trying to grab an unusable super-thingy on the stage.

What if there's only one smash ball and the person who gets it first just hoards it all to himself?! That cries un-fun on so many levels!

That's just my two cents.
Anyone agree/disagree??

I like how a bunch of people act like they are in a position of authority and claim how "un-smash like" it would be if they actually interpreted the sentence in the most logical form. Sakurai clearly stated it "can be performed but once…." If it could only be performed once per ball, he wouldn't have had to say anything. It is to be assumed that a final smash would have been used one per ball otherwise. Obviously he stated "can be performed but once…" for us to know that you can use it once per match.

Ironically I'm going to use the position that most people debate against me on in other Brawl debates, and that is Brawl is a "new" smash with "new" additions and it will not be like the other two. You can argue how the "final smash" wouldn't live up to what you believe smash is all about just like you can argue the same with wavedashing, l-canceling, and all that. The thing is, you guys aren't Sakurai, and unlike wavedashing and all that, Sakurai came out and said you can only use this once in a match.

Also, most people play this game within a 5-10 stock match limit. I've been to A LOT of anime convention tournaments and this is what I typically see. That's about a 10 minute match, with 4 final smashes. Imagine how much damage 4 final smashes would cause in a FFA? Quite a bit. If it was once per ball then the entire game would revolve solely on evading and grabbing all the final smashes. Now if that doesn't make the game ****ty for FFA I don't know what does.

Oh yay, lets have someone bash competitive play! Oh wait, you don't know what you are talking about! Some people, myself included, see the Final Smash as an item that would add more depth and strategy to the competitive scene. Why is this? Simple. The item has it's own limitations. It can't be abused over and over again, which would make the entire match break down into grabbing final smashes like I said earlier. It could be used strategically and would make matches exciting. I'm looking forward to learning how the Final Smashes work, cause I really hope that they are an item that can be used for competitive play.

OH NOES! I might have be strategic with an item instead of grabbing them all the time and playing dumb!

I just wish people would have a little more common sense as well as an open mind about Brawl.
You do make a point with new, and you are saying that the thing shows up, what every 5 secs? if the whole match was to be like that they would have to spawn at that kind of rate! if there was say... 1 every 5 mins (at least, if not more) and you could see it coming, or even if it just randomly popped up... I don't think you have to worry about it be the only thing that matters.

It's great how much we're arguing over this, when in the end, we could find up that the truth is that they can be used more than once, but are about as rare as a super-powerful pokemon.

Then everyone would be sorta-wrong.

Not that I'm saying we shouldn't argue; it's fun.

I am on the side that it can be used more than once in a match. The matter is just how much, if, and when the Smash ball will appear.

Might there be a setting to turn off Finals Smashes? Might there be a setting to change how often it appears?

And the translation thing.. I agree that it has been translated very well. There might be some words that are out of place, but it will mean the exact same thing. I only took two years of japanese so I can only read about half of each sentence.. I can't translate it, but reading both the japanese and english side by side it looks alright.

Hey would it not be funny if there was a setting to have it both ways? and the default was not at have smash balls at all, so we would never know who was right.

All I have to say is, they had BETTER give me the option of a 99 stock match with nothing but Final Smashes and 2x damage handicaps

I think not. any move that can cause massive damge should be illegal to remove.
Under the assumption it's REALLY that deadly. From the looks of it (and the exception of Samus), if you get caught in any of these, you were tricked into it or you have no one to blame but yourself. So far they all have holes. No super move is perfect (unless it's from an unplayable character >>)
