Fantasy Football Discussion Thread!!!

Above photo is Walter Payton, in 1984.

Alright, it's about time the pool room gets a fantasy football thread! Discuss trades, make predictions, ask for advice, brag about how your team rocks, whatever. No real specific rules except, of course, for the Pool Room rules and the SWF Global rules.

Yeah, that's a pretty Cowboy-themed team there.

Alright, I have two teams on ESPN, listed below. Both of them are in public leagues with ten teams, and use the default head-to-head scoring settings.

Team one:

QBs: Matt Ryan, Matt Cassel
RBs: Frank Gore, Pierre Thomas, Thomas Jones, Reggie Bush*, Ricky Williams**
WRs: Larry Fitzgerald, Calvin Johnson***, Braylon Edwards, Donald Driver, Ted Ginn Jr., Dominic Hixon*
TEs: Jason Witten
Defense: Titans
Kicker: Jason Elam

*Probably going to trade these two
**Probably going to pick up Chester Taylor and drop Williams
***Some fool in my league dropped Calvin Johnson, and I was number one on the waiver order. What luck :)

Team two:
QBs: Matt Schaub, Joe Flacco
RBs: Maurice Jones-Drew, Clinton Portis, Pierre Thomas, Leon Washington
WRs: Andre Johnson, Wes Welker, Hines Ward*, Santonio Holmes*, Steve Breaston*, Ted Ginn Jr.*
TEs: Dallas Clark, Dustin Keller
Defense: Titans
Kicker: Kris Brown

*One or two of these recievers will probably be traded

Your first team is ridiculous. How in the world did you pull that off? lol

Anyway, I just drafted today. I had the 12th spot (out of 12), which I had never done before. It's kind of interesting. It was frustrating how people were drafting though. The top 7 quarterbacks were gone by the end of the 3rd round. I usually try to draft some good RBs and WRs in the early rounds, so I was a little screwed over for QBs.

Here's my team:

QB: Jay Cutler, Jake Delhomme
RB: Chris Johnson, Ronnie Brown, Reggie Bush, Joseph Addai
WR: Larry Fitzgerald, Terrell Owens, Steve Breaston, Kevin Walter, Derrick Mason
TE: Jermichael Finley
DST: Green Bay
K: John Carney

I know Finley is a reach at TE, but I really think he's going to have a break out season.

I facepalmed so hard when I accidentally took the Saints defense when Jones-Drew was on the board.

QB: Kurt Warner, Eli Manning
RB: Steven Jackson, Steve Slaton, Jamal Lewis, Tim Hightower, Willis McGahee
WR: Reggie Wayne, Hines Ward, Mushin Muhammad, Santonio Holmes
TE: Jason Witten, Dustin Keller
Defense: Ravens, Saints
K: Rob Bironas, Robbie Gould

It certainly helped that some fool dropped Calvin Johnson and Matt Ryan right after the draft. Before that, I had Kevin Curtis instead of Johnson and Jason Campbell instead of Matt Ryan.

Here's my team:

QB: Jay Cutler, Jake Delhomme
RB: Chris Johnson, Ronnie Brown, Reggie Bush, Joseph Addai
WR: Larry Fitzgerald, Terrell Owens, Steve Breaston, Kevin Walter, Derrick Mason
TE: Jermichael Finley
DST: Green Bay
K: John Carney

Good team for the most part; great wide recievers, and Carney is a reliable kicker imo. You have good depth at RB, too. You might wanna see what defenses are still avainlable though, Green Bay isn't too good. Yeah, Finley is a slight reach, but he's having a great preseason, so he has a decent chance of beating out Donald Lee. Lee could be a drain though. Overall, it's good for a 12 person league.

Ouch... that sucks...

RB: MJD, Knowshon Moreno, Leon Washingtion, Ray Rice, Julius Jones
WR: both Steve Smiths, Donnie Avery, Ted Ginn Jr.
TE: Gates

I know I have 4 RB's with the same bye week so I asked my friend to trade Julius Jones and Donnie Avery for Sammy Morris and Nate Washington
This was my first year in Fantasy Football and I kinda felt rushed during the draft

Alright, I'm wondering whether I should drop Ricky Williams for Chester Taylor.

Current RBs: Frank Gore, Pierre Thomas, Thomas Jones, Reggie Bush, Ricky Williams

I'm leaning towards Taylor, but I want to be cautios. Jamaal Charles, Sammy Morris, and Michael Bush are the other decent RB options.

I'm also considering Bo Scaife, since I currently have no backup TE for Jason Witten's bye week.

My team is as follows:
QB: Jay Cutler
TE: Dallas Clark
RB: Turner/Bush/Benson
WR: Andre Johnson/Greg Jennings/Colston/A. Gonzalez/Chris Henry
K: Bironas
DST: Baltimore

I'm not really liking my RB situation, but in our league we have 4 RB/WR flex spots instead of 2 RB 2 WR, so I can run out Turner/Andre/Jennings/Colston every week. Still...I always grab at least 2 RB's in the first 3 rounds but strayed away from that this year....and now I wish my RB's were better. Oh well.

I wasn't there for my draft, but I didnt' get much bad

QB: Donovan McNabb, Chad Pennington
HB: Michael Turner, Marion Barber, Fred Taylor
WR: Anquan Boldin, Brandon Marshall, Braylon Edwards, Lance Moore
TE: Dustin Keller, Heath Miller
K: Rob Bironas
D/ST: Jets, Redskins

Not bad, tho I am worried about Brandon Marshall and his crap with the Broncos.

Well, Sproles has already proven his worth as a good RB, and Washington is unhappy with his contract. Then again, LT is a bigger threat to Sproles' value than Thomas Jones is to Washington's.

It's a tough decision, but Sproles should probably be your starter at first. That said, if Leon Washington starts getting the bulk of carries for the Jets (especially if Thomas Jones stages a contract holdout), put him in.

Probably Housh; he's the most reliable of the bunch and is definitely going to be the Seahawks' number 1 reciever. Not going to have any AMAZING games though.

Derrick Mason would be my second choice; he's a great receiver with great hands, but he's old (35), which limits his speed and makes fatigue, retirement, and injuries all issues.

The other ones aren't reliable at all, although Harvin has a chance for a breakout season.

I would pick Washington because I'm a Jets fan but if I had to start one, I'd still pick Washington.

I don't know much about fantasy football, but if it's only based upon how the perform as a RB, I would go with Sproles because LT's getting old so he will get carries. Washington has to get carries along with Jones (whose still the Jets #1 RB on thier depth chart) and Greene (even though he's a rookie, he'll probably get some carries every now and then). But if it's based upon everything, Washington can run, catch & return.

For RBs:

1 point for every 10 rushing yards
1 point for every 10 receiving yards
6 points for rushing and receiving touchdowns

Also some leagues award a point for every reception. Returns don't count unless they score a touchdown.

hmm, someone just dropped Jonathan Stewart in my league.

I've got: Chris Johnson, Ronnie Brown, Joseph Addai, Reggie Bush

Do you think I should drop any of them to pick him up? (I can only start 2 RBs in my league btw)

Sadly, my league is so inactive. Only 6 people showed up for the draft and i dun think they care about it as much as I do so idk if I can pull off a trade.

Out of the following, which WR would be best to pick off waivers
Mark Clayton
Justin Gage
Michael Jenkins
Devery Henderson
Miles Austin
Domenik Hixon
Limas Sweed
Chansi Stuckey
David Clowney

and would it be best to drop Knowshon for one of these guys? I have 5 Rb's when I can only start 2 ><

n for week 1 should I start Avery over Steve Smith (***)
