Falco's Glide Toss

Falco's Glide Toss is dam good.

First off, "What is glide tossing"
Well glide tossing occurs when you have an item and as you throw it, you can "glide" backwards or forwards.

This is a main part of Diddy's game (since bananas=item), but also has it's effectiveness in other characters such as Peach zamus and Rob to name a few.

How to Glide Toss
Glide tossing is simple. I think it would be best to learn it first as diddy since diddy's timing has much more leeway than Falco.

So how to execute:
Hold an item>Roll (back or forward, if you want to glide back or forwards respectively)> Quickly smash the C-Stick in the direction you want to throw it.

(You could also use "A + analog direction" instead of c-stick, but for not chucking forward+glide toss forward, it makes it harder)

For diddy, this allows him for much movement when throwing bananas, leading to grabs, tilts, smashes, or even another banana (much more detail and advanced uses in diddy subforums)

So what does this have to do with Falco?

Yeah, so diddy gets most of the fun, so why should we care? Because if we get hold of the banana, they is nothing stopping Falco from glide tossing as well (it's just more difficult timing, and I only managed to forward glide toss atm)

Reason #1:
Diddy's glide toss gives him about glide distance around faclo's body lenght when he glide tosses. For Falco.... IT IS MUCH MORE!. Like nearly half of FD, that's more than your average boost smash! Like he glides FUTHER than he throws the banana FORWARD>

Reason #2:
And this leads up to things for Falco as well, especially his grab. (YES, YES CG TIME!).
If you hit the banana, you can grab/tilt/smash/shine them as they (100%) trip.

If they shield the banana, you would have been propelled behind them due tot he glide toss, so you can pivot grab etc as well!

Any thoughts?
Maybe you wouldn't feel so eager to simply chuck away the banana next time against diddy.

gyro and turnip glide-toss as well

keep diddy's bananas in play at your own risk, his dash attack is much safer for picking them back up than Falco's is.

And also link's bombs and zamus' armour pieces.

Any throwable item, most common you will find will be diddy's bananas though.

And yes it is true about your decision to keep diddy's banana offstage, but this gives us some options, especially for an early grab.

ALSO you can do an immediate glide toss from landing, so if you got one in your hands.
SHL->Glidetoss forward->More attacks.

And if it is already on the ground, you can also instantly pick it up can you land on it (be it your own or diddy), and glide toss instantly as well.

M2k's (or anyone else's) Metaknight also does this, and his glide toss + Dash grab much him go from one side of smashville to the other 0___o

Link and Toon Link both don't benefit from this, since their glide tosses both don't make them move. However, ROB also benefits greatly from it as a quick way of getting out while covering himself with an attack.

I've just recently been working on glide toss. I'm not a fan of bananas though; I perfer to use Gyro/Armor parts.

Whenever I've versed diddy his bananas create an even better opening for grab opportunities than lasers since they just can't do anything when they trip.

Banana to Usmash is too pro.

Gliding is so useful it gives movement faster than dashing but you aren't dashing so you can follow up with anything really.

Yeah, it's great. Can also be a fsmash, but not sure about dsmash since they might pop up inthe air for a bit, or be out of range.

I tried glidetoss backwards. But it only makes falco pivot on the spot and throw (forward) again.

EDIT- here you go
http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=172861
as you can see, there is a difference between glide tossing backwards and throwing it forwards and glide tossing backwards and throwing it backwards.
not to mention Falco can't do a backwards glide toss in the first place
I knew that thread existed, just didn't wanna go searching for it again. >.>

Ah thanks.

Well Falco as quite some good distance on his POSSIBLE glides compared to most of the class.

Who said that falco can't glidetoss backwards?
Are you saying he can? Cause I've never been able to do it, and I've never heared of anyone else pulling it off either. (It'd be sweet if you found out that he could though.)

I'm 99% positive Falco can't glide toss backwards. I've never been able to do it, nor have I seen anyone do it. I can do it every single time with Meta Knight, but I've never gotten it with Falco.

I had a SICK glide toss kill at my last tournament. I nearly **** my self.

Had ROB's gyro. glide toss towards him, throwing down. The knockback of the top set me up for an up smash while STILL gliding. LOL It was amazing.
