It sounds like there's basically a fund where the community that pays the most money gets in? How exactly does it work, and what is the money used for?

Thing is, how do we know this will be done transparently? What if Sony donates a bunch by PS All-Stars? Will the numbers be transparent and realtime updated?

Ok so they are holding a players choice where whoever raises the most moneys gets an evo spot, its or breast cancer research, links will be up soon.

A bunch of games that were not smash were announced, but MORE IMPORTANTLY: the 8th game is player choice, and they're doing it by having the community with the most money donated to a charity getting the spot.

Oh your not watching? They announced that the 8th game will be left up to a vote, but you need to donate to breast cancer to vote because srk started threads about how melee got votes from SF4 trolls and people made fake accounts to vote.

The 8th game for Evo 2013 is going to be decided by vote. However, this vote is determined by donations. The game with the most donations wins the 8th spot in Evo. The money goes to breast cancer.

Basically, they are going to have a Donation Link for the games that had over 500 votes on the Facebook Vote. Smash [Brawl and Melee] will have their own separate links. Instead of doing a Poll, they are going to do it based off donations which will be for Breast Cancer Research. More information will be posted tonight/tomorrow.

The game with the most donations [money] is going to be the one that will be considered Player's Choice. It will get its own event.

Now, something to consider, in all likelihood... We aren't going to raise enough money. A company could very well donate money to have their game in there. The timing is favorable for Tax Season, to provide deductions.

Even if melee make its way through the donations I have a feeling they'd pull some **** like turning items on a la brawl in 2008.

These EVO guys are obviously *******s.

Making money the deciding factor basically rules out our chances of winning, especially when corporate interests (Sony) are involved. It's loads of free PR towards the worthy cause of breast cancer, and good publicity for their game. They'd be stupid not to do it.

Unless... could we petition Nintendo to donate to this thing? Is such madness even possible? Could Sakurai be made to feel love for his prodigal ******* child once more, coincidentally saving innumerable boobs in the process?

if we basically pay our way in, they'll play by our rules

remember, melee at evo 2007 was flawless. the reason they turned on items for brawl was they felt the game was too new to judge what the ruleset what (or something like that), whereas melee was 6 years old and the ruleset was established.


but yeah sony might pull some bull****. though considering pas ****ing BOMBED it might not be worth the trouble for sony lol

Since the fate of melee in the Evo lineup is based on the donation for breast cancer and a thread has been made for it, please move discussions there.

They're turning off gems for one game and banning 2v2 for another. Also something about some ultra jump being off for Mahvel. They can turn off items.
