If MikeHaze is famous for anything, it's how hard he tries in friendlies.

In this sense, according to my friendlies with Mike, I'm better at the Marth ditto... (lol)
Not like any of our matches ever ended, he'd mysteriously float away at any sign of imminent loss ;)

Anyway, these matches were pointed out the other day in the sonic match up thread, they didn't really stir up much conversation though.

Sif no SuperMikeDI.

lol at espy being a "pro"... He's a good smasher but not a pro

mike is a pro, between placings and sponsorship.

Not taking away anything from their friendliest tho

shaya stop kidding yourself

edit: also lol at both being the best of their char. Dunno about sonics but there's competition for top marth and no way to prove it yet.

Then who is the best or top Marth for you?

About Sonic there is only Shugo and Espy, and espy is a lot better than Shugo at least for me.

∫unk, you clearly do not know what you're talking about, at all lol. He's gotten good placings and has beaten good players including Roy-R.

Moving on from that, I approve of those games.

There will never be a definite way to technically prove it, it's all about each individual's mind and how they perceive what decides what the definition of the "best" is.

The only way close to ever proving anything related to someone being the best at something, is if you preset conditions. Such as, "Who will win against xxxx player?". But even then, it will be impossible to decide because there are multiple players to fight, and it would be dittos, and theres no way to decide which matches weigh more than others.

Or, you just consider the "best" as the one that's most commonly accepted as it.

sups :) i went to whobo, i played royr lol.. i played almost all the texas well known players when i went. i'm not sure what beating roy r means for espy beyond what i said, espy is a great player but not a pro...

im pretty sure im not underestimating anyone, is espy making money consistently at tournaments? has he made enough to travel solo? do ppl fear his name when he goes out of state? does he get paid to show up to tournaments? no, no, no, no -> not a pro :/

i'm just defining it for you i'm saying this without bias espy isn't a bad player, but i don't think a sonic can ever be pro.

but when you figure out who i am then let's make big mean posts...

"i approve of these matches" LOOOOOL good i couldnt have watched them without your approval!

every time south says something too big and wc or ec says "uhh, no." south gets their panties in a bunch

seriously, mike is sponsored to go to ****, he consistently makes money going to tournies. he's ranked 3rd in socal. i don't know how espy is doing recently (don't really care not in my region), but i doubt a sonic is placing top 3 consistently and ****** it up travelling, is sponsored, has multiple wins vs the top players.

even in these friendlies mike told me espy was praying to win ONE friendly LOOOOOOL

it probably has to do with mike playing marth and espy playing sonic, but doesn't really matter. as far as the best? not able to determine because the two best marths haven't even attended the same tournament.

And what does that mean? Threating me over a video game forum because you happen to be good at one game? How sad lol. Get in the real world son.

Is there something wrong with you by the way? It means I liked the matches.

No ck, these friendlies were put here as part of a conspiracy to start a flame war in the marth forums
as we can see, the Mr. R thread is also a part of this.

I'm not sure what Junk means, but there are some "pro" low tire players... from Melee, wasn't Taj a really pro Mewtwo?

Sephiroth27 has a really pro Captain Falcon, and same with Tapion (although he only plays doubles lol)...

Green Ace and Bwett have good Yoshis, they constantly place high in their tournies...

Ally has a pro CF too, doesn't he? XD.

Lol sorry, I meant in Brawl. Taj was the only one I mentioned from Melee, I thought it was clear that the others were from Brawl since I didn't designate which game they were good at.

Edit: fixed :).

sooooooo basically friendlies happened ....

...
Pretty much this.

They're just friendlies, and are to be taken as such and nothing more. This thread's title is just opinion, so it's not to be taken at face-value.
Besides, I just uploaded them because they are actually interesting to watch.

PS: This is Espy.

You must feel big cherry-picking your points, even if you're right, over a bunch of semi-lulz/semi-serious matches/opinions.

Do you think Espy have the material to be a Pro?
I don't need to be MikeHAZE to tell you Espy is a respected player in his own right.

Also you my friend are falling for the bait.

It's fun... I guess.

A pro gamer is a gamer making money out of gaming.

If you pay, say, $100 to get to a tournament and you earn anything less than that, you're not a pro.

If you place 20th at Genesis using Ganondorf you're not a pro.

And to all the fanboys: No, Izaw and Rebaz don't make money/don't make enough money to cover their expenses playing in tournaments and, as such, cannot be considered pros.

Why don't people take things by definition any more, a proper vocabulary helps these days.

The same Xisin itself speaking...

And Lord Chair i don't even find the words to answer you... But you can't always win even if is a pro or not.

Every char has his Pro player even you don't like that. Pro is to know how to play well. There is excellent players for every char and that makes them pro.

You are just a person who only cares about the money. You are the oen who need the dictionary.

What, I'm not finding the words to answer with because I'm off to a tournament? Great logic, I like that.

I don't care about your definition of 'pro', wasting my time on discussing with Random Guy #2512 is really not what I intend to do, sorry.

Money is what makes the term, I don't care about your incredibly obvious fanboyism and capability of being a rather splendid troll.

In strict terms, yes, you must be able to make Smash profitable, and thus your "profession," so to speak, in order to be a professional.

However, then comes the question of how far that actually extends. If you happened to live somewhere with a lot of bad players and regularly won large sums of money, but couldn't compare to the rest of the nation or even the region as a whole, are you still a pro? If you keep placing outside of the money in your region, go to some big tournament in another part of the country and win, are you a professional considering you've only won this tournament?

Thus it's far more effective to use somewhat lenient terminology when referring to pros, because in conventional competitive games there is only either "professional" or "amateur."

In this arguement I don't believe the definition of pro as a person's way to make a living counts. The definition for pro in this would be anyone who is an expert at their craft.

Don't ask why I'm humoring this but, go check your dictionary. Professional(noun) has a few possible definitions.
(if you're wondering why the count starts at 10, it's because I'm starting at the definitions of professional as a noun, such as "a pro")

10. a person who belongs to one of the professions, esp. one of the learned professions.
11. a person who earns a living in a sport or other occupation frequently engaged in by amateurs: a golf professional.

These are the definitions you are probably using. You're completely neglecting these ones however, which are clearly the intended definitions.

12. an expert player, as of golf or tennis, serving as a teacher, consultant, performer, or contestant; pro.
13. a person who is expert at his or her work: You can tell by her comments that this editor is a real professional.

Since you were not the one who brought up the word professional, you are not fit to determine that one of the first two definitions were used. That'd be like if you said you had a cold and I told you that you meant to say that you were cold. You're not talking about feeling cold, you're talking about being sick with a cold. This is just a preceding argument if you try and say, "No! I was talking about the first two definitions."

Now thát are the kind of arguments I like dealing with, instead of the omnipresent dealing with the oh-so-irrelevant one-liners.

I take back everything I have said previously, this remarkable essay by a man of truthful discussing potential made me realize it is, perhaps, I who should take another look at his vocabulary.

I salute you, my dear fellow.

I feel your pain, watch it again once (and only once) then start with DBK, it helps. If else, Phoenix Wright is rather splendid a series to burn your time with as well, only it requires your attention (say what?).
