The NJ circuit started by Blue is coming to a close! He started it to increase competition and activity in NJ, and I think it helped out a lot. I helped him a lot after his first event because he couldn't get along with his previous venue host and he wanted to attach a big name to his event, so now it's basically Enemy Controller's circuit. Blue has something else in mind for NJ once this is over. Let's all show our appreciation for Blue's good idea and hard work and make this event exciting and big!

YOU DO NOT NEED POINTS FROM PREVIOUS EVENTS TO ATTEND THIS TOURNAMENT. THAT IS WHAT THE AMATEUR BRACKET IS FOR. JUST COME ON TIME AND ENTER THE AMATEUR BRACKETS IN ORDER TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS EVENT. IF YOU PLACE WELL, YOU WILL BE SEEDED INTO THE PRO BRACKET.

Venue:
The Palmer Inn/Clarion Hotel
3499 Rt 1 South
Princeton, NJ 08540
Windsor Room(go up the stairs in the lobby and it's on the right)

Sign-ups: 11:00am.
The tournament starts at 12:00pm.

Singles = $10
Doubles = $5 per person ($10 per team)
Venue fee = $3

If you bring a Wii and a TV and we use them, you'll have part of your house fee waived. $1 for each item we use, basically.

I need everyone to come to me or someone else that might happen to be at the laptop to pay their entry fees as soon as they walk into the venue. This speeds things up a lot and makes sure everyone is signed up.

Brawl Rules:
* Matches will be THREE (3) Stock, seven minute time limit.
* Double Elimination. All matches will be 2/3, with all finals being 3/5.
* The bracket will be seeded by crews/region and rankings.
* Items will be off.
* Life stealing is allowed in teams.
* Smashballs will be OFF.
* Advanced Slob picks: First match is a blind pick, where the competitors will tell their character to a judge, and then proceed. The loser of the first match will then pick the next stage, then the winner may choose his character. After, the loser will choose his character and begin. The same will happen for the third match, if forced.
* -Dave's Stupid Rule Modified will be in effect. The same stage can not be played twice in a row in a single set.
* The Mage's DQ rule is also in effect:
2 Minutes Late: Warning/Loss of first stock
4 Minutes Late: Loss of first match of set
6 Minutes Late: Loss of set
* Any attempt at lame tactics will result in a warning. Any further attempt at lame tactics will result in forfeit.
These tactics include, but are not limited to:
-Stalling under a stage.
-Running away to run the time limit. (Excessively. If there's 30 seconds, and you bail, that's one thing. But if you waste 5 minutes, or be a jerk about it, we're stopping the match. It's at the judge's discretion.)

Stages:

Neutral:
* Final Destination
* Battlefield
* Yoshi's Story
* Smashville
* Lylat

Counterpicks:
* Delfino Plaza
* Frigate Orpheon
* Battleship Halberd
* Castle Siege
* Rainbow Cruise
* Brinstar
* Pokemon Stadium 1

NOTE: You may play any banned stage as long as both you, and your opponent agree and ask a judge! If you agree, there will be no complaints!

DO NOT BRING WENDY'S TO THE VENUE. IF YOU BRING WENDY'S TO THE VENUE, YOU WILL BE CHARGED AN EXTRA $1 TOWARDS THE VENUE FEE OR YOU WILL BE ASKED TO LEAVE WITH NO REFUNDS GIVEN. I DO NOT WANT TO SMELL GREASE ALL DAY AND EVERYONE ALWAYS LEAVES A MESS FOR ME TO CLEAN UP. EAT YOUR WENDY'S AT THE RESTAURANT AND DO NOT BRING IT BACK.

Those are the guaranteed spots pending all of those people show up. If someone seeded automatically doesn't show up, they get removed and everyone else below them moves up a spot.

Tie-breaker matches and pools have to be played to determine seeding. If players with the same point totals show up, they will have to play for the higher seeds.

Tie-breaker matches:
Snakeee vs Keitaro
Pierce7d vs BlackWaltz
Shadow vs Blue
ksizzle vs teh_spamerer

Tie-breaker pools:
-bschung, Izumi, Umbra
-Chrome Pirate, dmbrandon, Vex Kasrani
-Kai, Rhyme, VaJaJ
-Ether, Mr. Clutch, Munk, Orion, Rogue Pit, Xzax, D1, Rookie

All DOUBLES seeds will be determined at the venue. I need every team to report to me. You will be seeded based on the total points of your team, and tie-breaker matches will be played if needed.

Here is how everything will work.

Doubles:
-All teams must report to me before anything starts. Your seed will be determined by the total amount of points your team has. If you are in the top 12, you will automatically be put into the pro bracket, seeded in order based on your point totals.
-The first event will be an amateur teams bracket that only teams not in the pro bracket may enter.
-The top 4 teams from this bracket will be seeded into the pro bracket as seeds 13-16 respectively.
-All entry fee money will be transfered to the pro bracket and added to the money already saved from previous events, making the pot very large.

Singles:
-All players must report to me before anything starts. Your seed will be determined by how many points you have. If you are in the top 26, you will automatically be put into the pro bracket, seeded in order based on your point totals.
-After the amatuer doubles bracket, there will be an amateur singles bracket that only players not in the pro bracket may enter.
-The top 6 players from this bracket will be seeded into the pro bracket as seeds 27-32 respectively.
-All entry fee money will be transfered to the pro bracket and added to the money already saved from previous events, making the pot very large.

After the Amateur Brackets:
-After the amateur brackets are done, the pro brackets will begin, giving all the top point earners and the amateur bracket's top placers a shot at a large amount of money and the thrill of only facing the best of the best.
-Doubles: 1st place will get 60% of the pot, then 30% for 2nd, then 10% for 3rd.
-Singles: 1st place will get 50%, then 2nd gets 25%, 3rd gets 15%, 4th gets 5%, and both players who place 5th each get 2.5%.
-Each pot will consist of all the entry fees collected at this event added to half of the saved up money from other events.
-I highly recommend that every player sticks around to watch these matches even if they're not in the pro bracket. You're going to see a lot of high-level play and you can learn a lot from it. A lot of exciting matches are guaranteed to happen.

The whole circuit we were told of our money going to prizes that are no longer featured. Regardless if the money is equal, this is bull****.

Oh.

You see, the 1st event didn't earn us any money due to Gaming World bailing on us.

Then we had one event where we earned nothing.

This is going to be after Christmas, so anyone without a Wii or w/e better have one. Also, I'm sure people will be in need of MONEY after the holidays, and this event will have a lot of money to win.

I'm sure most people would rather win cash they can do whatever they want with over set prizes.

I fail to see how bad planning/venues should **** us out of the money we've been spending.

Didn't you call bull**** on MD/VA tourn for guaranteeing ****, and bailing?

So... You're the kettle? Can I call you Ket?

Yeah, it really seems like Brandon is complaining just for the sake of it. He must get all of his angries out online because he's so nice in person, lol.

You knew you were losing additional money when the house fee was 4$ and that hasn't been a hidden fact. The money is still going back to the winning players, and this is BETTER because it's spread out more fairly amongst the players. 1 Wii, compared to 8-12 people that get more cash.(5 people that benefit in singles and 6 people that benefit from teams?)

If you aren't getting first, you should rejoice, yes?

I'm personally happy, because getting 5th is ALOT easier then getting 1st.

I'm starting an hour earlier than usual so we're not there until 5am.

12pm is when amateur doubles is starting.

Make sure you're there on time!

Now I have to get up earlier >.>

If you're gauranteed a pro bracket seed, then show up late, but I'd want to be on time for watching the amateur bracket stuff and warming up.

I need everyone to come to me or someone else that might happen to be at the laptop to pay their entry fees as soon as they walk into the venue. This speeds things up a lot and makes sure everyone is signed up.

Pro stuff starts immediately after amateur stuff, lol.

If you plan on showing up ONLY for pro bracket events, as in you are 100% confident that you have enough points for singles and you and your partner will have enough in doubles, then you can show up a bit later. I wouldn't show up any later than 3pm. After that you're either going to be too late or force me to delay things.

In reality, super cash money is better than just a wii. Why?
I don't want to have to deal with ebay.

Amateur bracket finals should be interesting if there are no winnings for it. The person who sandbags the hardest and gets 2nd place would be the clear 'winner' in this case, lol.

I have some possible ideas for how to improve the seeding for something like this, like a Circuit Seed + Circuit Seeded Swiss Rounds Hybrid Seeding for the bracket(s), but it'd take like an hour or two. It'd fix things such as M2K playing someone like Azen 1st round (top level players but didn't have circuit points so they came from the 'amateur' bracket) and Circuit Seeds around 5/6 having more difficult 1st rounds than some of the 20-26 Circuit Seeds, but still rewarding the players ranked high in the circuit since it makes up a large part of their overall seeding.

I don't think I'll have time for stuff like that, James.

Immediately after amateur stuff is done and I don't know when that'll be. I've said this many times.

Why do people keep thinking it's invite only when I specifically posted many times, often in all caps, that you can enter regardless of points? :confused:
