So wait...it seems like Chrom is still a part of Robins Final Smash even though he is playable? *Fiora-Hype intensives* (jk)

And about what Vergeben: He said something about a character from Granblue Fantasy? Never heard of it.
I looked the character up and she does have nice design but as far as i am aware this game doesnt have any appearance on a Nintendo-System right?
A Webbrowser/ mobil game and an upcoming PS4-Game (Sequel?). I mean i don't have anything against it but this seems a little farfetched to me. It has some welll known names to it (Nobuo Uematsu) but it feels a bit...."random" to me (unless im missing something here. It was made by the same Studio as Dragalia Lost...interessting).

Nintendo owns 5% of Cygames, the company that made Granblue Fantasy. It's incredibly popular in Japan and Cygames also works on Dragalia Lost.

The line of thinking is DLC will be more about crossovers and alluring players to get Smash who otherwise wouldn't be interested. Unfortunately this kind of thing probably means it's less likely we'll see a first party Nintendo character like Elma included. As an side, there's a Nia Mii Fighter costume, so there might be X content we haven't seen yet. Depending on what else is in the game, the lack of X content could be a blessing in disguise or just false hope.

Source for any of that? Is a Granblue character even confirmed? Afaik the person who said that isn't Vergeben, just some other person who's gotten stuff wrong before. They could be another loz18 for all we know

First KOS-MOS, then Fiora, then Elma!

But wait... who's this?!? Rex joins the battle as well!?!? And... Pyra? Wait is that Tatsu? Dunban, Melia, Nia, Morag, Brighid, Sharla, Zanza, Jin, Malos, Lora, R E Y N?!?!??!?!?!?!?!? Cross!?!??!?!?!?!!

E V E R Y O N E

And then they get hit by the vaporizing light beams anyway and Kirby’s gotta save them all. :troll:

Re: Granblue - I still doubt that. Granblue is only available for download in Japan even though it HAS an English version. And Dragalia Lost might be too soon.

Oh really. If that is true it would definetly be "interessting". And there is an Nia-Costume really. Was that found in one of the Demos?

Unrelated to the current discussion, but does anyone else feel like Elma getting announced alongside a port of X is a bit more likely now? I mean, Takahashi's statement, as I remember it, was vague enough to neither confirm nor deny a port being worked on right now. Plus, at this rate, her being announced in a general Direct is more likely than a dedicated post-launch Smash Direct.

And unrelating to Smash, but I started doing all the stuff that was left for me in X to get actual 100% completion. I already completed every segment a while ago, but now I'm also taking care of all the basic missions (already finished), Heart-to-Hearts with the characters that were DLC in Japan, as well as. . . doing Bozé's stuff, as much as I'd prefer not to.

It was in a livestream event Nintendo was holding.
Ehhh. Unless they show off costumes for Zeke or Mòrag, I'm not interested in these. Those two were the only playable Drivers that I really liked. Nia is really more of a big meh to me after I realized some really stupid things about her.

I think at this point it's more likely we'd get a xenoblade X2 announcement unless they plan on releasing it within a year of announcement like with XC2. I mean, I'm fairly certain they have a different team work on the X games than the team that works on the main series and if they started development shortly after X released then it would've started development around the same time as smash ultimate so the game releasing in say Dec 2020 doesn't seem very farfetched. (this would give them about 5 years of devtime mind you.) So I think maybe Elma could be one of the DLC characters (maybe like the 2nd or 3rd) and will be announced alongside an announcement of X2. (my money is on it being announced next E3 but when does nintendo ever announce things when we'd expect.)

So um

There’s gonna be a reprint of the Formula Skell figma for March next year, and it’s kinda suspicious since also Lucina’s Figma was delayed till after Smash 4 came out. Another hint at Elma being DLC?
Smash 4 came out in October for the 3DS and November for the Wii U back in 2014. Lucina's figma was planned to be released in the first quarter of 2014, but got delayed all the way to September of 2015 which was almost a year after Smash 4 came out. So I don't think Elma getting in as DLC would have any effect on the Formula Skell figma getting delayed.

. . .What does that have to do with an X port? I wasn't talking about an X2, not in the slightest.
A hypothetical X port most likely wouldn't even get in the way of an X2, since a port would probably be handled by another studio, just like the N3DS version of XBC1.

Hmm.... The rumors of Minecraft, Granblue Fantasy, and Square Enix content being DLC make me nervous. I wouldn't be surprised if Bandai Namco gets another rep too. If DLC is almost exclusively for 3rd parties leaving only one more Nintendo character, I hope it's Elma, but it's not very likely... Maybe Sakurai is one of those people who are huge fans of Xenoblade 1 & 2 and don't like X much, thinking that Sawano music wouldn't be fitting at Gaur Plains with all the regular-style Xenoblade music. Or maybe the reason it looks like practically no X content is in the game is because they wanted to have a stage based on Mira with Sawano music, but those things were easier to do as DLC. It's hard to say...

It really hard to say at this point. Thankfully, our wait won't be long before we discover if we DO have XCX content in the game or not.

Also... Didn't Sakurai mention he wanted to show off a few characters for the Fighter Pass so people could decide whether or not it's worth it to buy the complete set or just individual characters?

Maybe we'll get info on DLC characters much sooner than we're expecting.

What he said was that they should probably reveal the contents of the Fighter's Pass beforehand, implying that they could, but that they are not going to do that yet. That only lends more credence to the idea that the DLC characters have already long since been decided.
My biggest hope right now is that once the game releases, data miners manage to find some strong hints towards the identity of the DLC characters, like placeholders directed at specific series. Preferably Xenoblade.

If we get our DLC, then X music will be able to play on Gaur Plain anyway, due to how music from the same series works, remember? We could even play things like Mechanical Rhythm on our hypothetical Mira stage.

There has been so much talk over about Elma on the general thread...
I mean even if she’s not DLC, the X content being absent from the direct REALLY got people talking about her more than ever! So that’s at least a positive to take away from this if she isn’t DLC.
Maybe it can snowball into another X game or higher fan demand in a ballot or next smash;* (obviously REACHING but whatever I’m hopeful)

I personally think two characters being revealed near the game's release won't be too far of a stretch if they -do- wish to show a bit of the content in the Fighters Pass.
It depends on when the game went golden; How long the conceptualization of a character takes, and their creation process. Perhaps they had different teams that worked on the Adventure mode and Spirits, with coding that made it easy to implement a new fight in a tile everytime a new fighter was completed and polished. How far were they from completing the game when they announced it at E3? How big of a team and how long did they take in these few years of development?

What if, by the time the E3 trailer was shown, the game was already completed 90%? And that's when they started work on the DLC Fighters? It's very possible Piranha Plant is done, which is why it was pretty much easily shown during this recent presentation. The only reason he isn't available to download on release is the fact his alleged stage needs polishing (You know, we don't want Lylat Cruise shenanigans.) Heck, it's not too far off to say that the reason a fighter will take long to release is the fact that each of them will include a stage... which is a whole other beast when it comes to development.

I might be wrong, but I thought the Mario series music was split into two so not every Mario song could be played on any Mario stage? And the difference between Xenoblade 1/2 music vs Xenoblade X music I think is bigger than the difference between the vast majority of Mario songs. They could have the music be separated, or they might not, I guess I could see it going either way.

The Mario series was split up as "Side Games" (eg. Mario Tennis, Kart, Party) and "Main Games" (eg. Galaxy, Odyssey, Mario Bros.)

Xenoblade has no reason to be split because all three games are not far off from each other in gameplay genre... And the list would be horribly small for the hypothetical Mira stage.

People are really talking about Elma now. This makes me happy. She started as such an outside chance and now everyone has her on their minds. I hope we got our DLC!

Sakurai might consider X a "side game" though... And other series (*cough* FF) have a horribly small list of songs.

FF's small list of songs is a licensing thing.

X isn't really a side game, iirc it's still related to the mainline games.

The upcoming Grandblue Fantasy game is developed by Platinum Games, the folks behind Bayonetta. If I recall correctly, it's an ARPG, and it looks promising. The last time I kept track of it was almost a year ago, but I added it on my "to buy list", when it comes out in the US because I'm a huge fan of Platinum's stuff.

Here's some gameplay:

I don't believe the DLC rumors, but I'm not gonna lie, she'd be cool. Not what I was expecting, but not the worst thing ever. I don't think her inclusion would hurt Elma's chances or anything of course, and I can understand how most folks in this thread wouldn't care about that character, but yeah... The game is worth keeping an eye on it you're a fan of ARPGs and/or Platinum. Just saying.

More on topic, I'm coming up with predictions/ideas for stage gimmicks for an XCX level. I might post them later.

I feel like a DLC character will be revealed at the Game Awards (December 6th IIRC) but it won't be Elma and instead be a high profile character in order to entice people into buying the Fighter's Pass. I still think Elma for DLC is super likely though

Oh yeah, I don't doubt it.

I do hope she's announced right before or after that character. I need my X content

I swear to god if Uncontrollable isn't in the game somehow I will personally go to Sakurai's dealer and buy out his entire stock, because that song is a PERFECT fit for Smash!

I said it several times already but I would love to have an order of Elma with extra large Xenoblade X OST. With a side of remixes.

On the other hand, that's just a few days after the third anniversary of X' western release, so there'd be that.

Right? That clip alone made me totally cool with her if she really does happen. However I'd prefer if it had a Switch version first. Really neat stuff though.

Honestly, it'd be great if they just ended our suffering and revealed everything in the Fighter Pass. It's highly unlikely (and a risky move), but other games have done it.

If X got a touring stage (and it should, a large part of the game was about exploration), it'd be nice if it visited iconic spots like the giant rings in Oblivia (that are remnants of an ancient superweapon that turned the area into a desert), or the Divine Roost in Noctilum. (Fun fact: Noctilum is my least favorite main area in X since I'm super afraid of spiders.) The floating islands in Primordia would be a cool spot, as well as the beach in Sylvalum. The Cauldros portion could be a volcanic area and/or an enemy camp. As for NLA, nothing beats the Residential Area, IMO. I mean, it has houses, swimming pools, and a tennis court!

Possible stage elements and hazards include: climbable vines, spores that act like the smoke bomb item that conceals players, swimming, lava, cars, changes in gravity that alter jumping, cannon fire, boss fights (Tyrants), and moving and breakable platforms.

I have a theory that one of the reasons Elma isn't in the base game is because an X stage could theoretically take a while to develop, if done right. The game's maps were some of the best, and it'd take a while to do a stage justice.

Right? That clip alone made me totally cool with her if she really does happen. However I'd prefer if it had a Switch version first. Really neat stuff though.
If she gets in, I can imagine her being revealed along with a Switch release.

After thinking about how not all content is immediately accessible and how you could only see 'Split or Splat' listed with Splatoon's music when it appeared in the store, I've come to think it's way more likely that X music is just by default locked. Sawano is by no means unpopular with a general audience (XB1/2 fans are a different story) and Monolith were able to get the songs in XB2's DLC. It not being immediately available may just be referencing X's dark horse reception.

...a dream helped convince me of this, actually.

Wow Looks pretty cool. Her movements remind of Zelda in Hyrule Warriors.

A reveal at the game awards wouldnt surprise me either. I heard many people talk about Sora but i hope its someone else (not a fan of Sora. I thought he was really annoying in the 3DS-Game...but i havent played that in years and im not the biggest Kingdom Hearts-Fan so what do i know lol...)

After being kind of lukewarm of Spirits I've warmed up to them. I can already see how a lot of XCX characters would translate over, for instance
Ga Jiarg: Incineroar with a Beam Sword by default; fire platforms on the stage; backed up by a Krystal assist trophy (representing Ga Buidhe).
I'd be really surprised if the Formula was the only one.

Y'all, Sawano's secret project was probably already revealed: he's doing music for an upcoming Gundam anthology movie.
https://comicbook.com/anime/2018/10/05/mobile-suit-gundam-nt-anime-nyc-premiere/

Which, being a movie, would've had stuff in the works for some time.
What is the mixing?
https://www.reddit.com/r/Xenoblade_...ikely_is_it_for_xenobladex_representation_in/
"While talking to people in the Hiroyuki Sawano Discord Fan Server, we discovered that Hiroyuki Sawano had a short recording in March this year, one which only took one day.

It was so short and not for Gundam Narrative, another project he recorded for earlier this year, since Sawano explicitly mentioned that was in December 2017 and January 2018. I'm quite sure it wasn't for Gundam Narrative too, since film soundtracks typically 5.1ch mixing, which this recording in March didn't have."

I've been gone for a while because I wanted to avoid any drama the last Direct might've caused, but I'm happy to see people's hopes for Elma actually shot up a bit since I was last here. I mean, the total lack of XCX content does seem a tad suspicious, not to mention really unfair, so maybe adding some in one of the DLC packs is already planned? With Rex a lot less likely to be playable now, it certainly seems like it. (at least we were right about him being too new for this game...)

I know virtually nothing about Elma but I'm definitely interested and have kept my eye on her throughout this speculation cycle. I could just Google it but I prefer when fans explain the appeal themselves. Things I already like:

-Fights with two swords and guns (?)
-a PoC woman who kicks ass and isn't a giant stereotype
-is a mech pilot (?)
-Overall great character design

Alright Elma fans; sell the character to me.
