i noticed how the direct was very sidestep-y on XCX even went out of their way to informatively shut down on people expecting playable XC2 content.
but i shouldn't be thinking like that after how things ended for the likes of Shadow, Skull Kid, and, unfortunately, Black Knight.

None yet besides a skell, but even if we do find an Elma spirit, it won't mean deconfirmation.

Spirits are pretty much replacing trophies (as mentioned by Gamexplain in their Direct reaction video). And in Smash 4, Mewtwo had a trophy before becoming DLC.

Either way you're right in that it's strange XC2 got highlighted while XCX barely has content. I think this isn't just some coincidence.

So we've discussed our predictions for the most likely DLC characters... but what about characters that you personally want? I apologize if this is mildly off-topic but really we won't be getting any sort of new info on Elma until DLC starts getting outlined more then "we have 5 dudes with music lol". Assume that AT's are not able to be promoted and, as much as it hurts to say it, Rex's mii costume deconfirms him.

From Most Wanted to Least:

1. Elma, duh. She's my only most wanted who's not dead. I genuinely believe she has a solid chance now that, unfortunately, Rex is probably dead
2. Twili Midna, Twilight Princess is genuinely my favorite game of all time simply because of nostalgia. It was the first "real game" I ever played since I mainly played Mario Party before it. I was utterly enamored with her character, and she's my favorite Zelda character EVER. If Imp Midna is screwed perhaps she might have a shot?
3. Bandanna Dee, I used to think that he was pretty cool but unlikely bc he's a generic enemy, but now that Piranha Plant is here? oh boy. Also, Superstar Ultra was a big part of my childhood
4. Malos. I know this sounds weird but he's genuinely a very compelling villain and I love him for that. Also his VA is the best VA for ANY Nintendo villain EVER (except for Right Back At Ya Dedede). We need that in Smash even as a Shulk echo. also he's hot dont @ me
5. KOS-MOS, **** you this isn't favoritism she's great

So I'm thinking I'm 50/50 on Elma. But I;m just going to not REALLY expect her, and be pleasantly surprised if she is announced.

Reasons I KIND OF believe she could be DLC
1.) Literally no X content except a sticker.
2.) The mech/gun figure still missing
3.) Sawano(Even though this piece of evidence is not that strong)
4.) Her introduction timing does line up nicely for this game
5.) Xenoblade honestly being a large series of nintendos now
6.) X being one of the biggest games on the Wii U.
7.) Her being the biggest reveal of X2's DLC
8.) Rex being POTENTIALLY deconfirmed for Wave 1(not even confirmed there will be wave 2)

Reasons i am HESITANT to believe she is in
1.) We really dont know FOR SURE if theres no X content. There very well could be just not shown off
2.) Her character seems to be a little more niche and doesn't have the scale that im assuming most DLC candidates have(mainly 3rd party...gross)
3.) I honestly don't think Caitlin Glass was very vague...I feel like she almost deconfirmed her...
4.) X apparently being the "black sheep" of the Xenoblade series(even tho it's my favorite between all three by a long shot)

I'm probably missing A TON...but I just feel like when it comes to Smash, it is NEVER the "obvious" predictions and speculations that come true. I've really never seen an accurate "speculation roster". unsure if this helps or hinders Elma...Hopefully helps!

That skell figure is not a Figma though, its from another manufacturer (Kotobukiya), while Figma's are from Goodsmile, and Goodsmile to my knowledge has the most Nintendo merchandise (Metroid, Pokemon, Zelda, Splatoon Figma's and Nendoroids come to mind and the Pyra, Mythra and KOS-MOS Statue are also from Goodsmile)

Well, if it's personal stuff, it's like this for me:

1. Elma, obviously. Nothing to add to that.
2. Mirania, from The Last Story. This'd be full-on personal favouritism, since she's not even the protagonist in that game. If we're going to be a tad more realistic, then it's Zael, the protagonist of that game. The game itself does actually even have a small connection to the original Xenoblade, in that both were among the three games that NoA initially wanted to bring over to the US, causing Operation Rainfall to be a thing.
3. Amaterasu, from Okami. Only third party character I'd ever really want, because Okami is one of my all-time favourite games.
4. Felix, from Golden Sun. I mean, yeah, the common consensus goes more towards Isaac for these things, but I've always preferred Felix over him. Helps that he looks a lot like Dunban.
5. Uhh, I can't really think of a "legitimate" fifth character that I'd want, so. . . Melia. Yeah, Melia's good. Give her a moveset based around elemental summons, incorporate Spear Break and Starlight Kick, add Reyn and Sharla to her Final Smash, and we're good.

My personal DLC wishlist, with an accompanying stage:

1. Elma (stage: Sylvalum; after the Assist Trophy purge that was done she's like the only one that went unscathed of my most wanted first-party lmao)
2. Phoenix Wright (stage: Courtroom; Apollo Justice echo could be sick too)
3. Captain Toad (stage: Treasure World; I think he still has a shot, his NDC cameo could be replaced or removed when he's playable)
4. Urbosa/any BOTW Champion (stage: any BOTW stage that fits the character; not sure if they have much of a chance since BOTW already has a stage)
5. Dixie Kong (stage: either Windmill Hills from DKCTF or just bring Jungle Hijinxs back; could do a cool semiclone)

Now, for my prediction (likelihood order):

1. Steve (stage: Minecraft World; Vergeben said Minecraft content is coming. The only type of DLC they announced are the fighter + stage + music packs. connect the dots and...)
2. Geno (stage: Forest Mushrooms; I strongly think the Square Enix character is Geno, but a second choice I thought of is Lara Croft)
3. Elma (stage: Primordia; the complete lack of XCX content in Ultimate is staggering, Elma wasn't shown even as a Spirit while goddamn Tsubasa from Tokyo Mirage Sessions was, I can't help it but feel they're holding it back to release with Elma)
4. Promotional purposes character (In this case, I can't really predict who it will be. Could be from FE Three Houses, Daemon X Machina, or an unannounced game)
5. Crash (can't comment on a stage since I never played it; I feel Crash fills the spot Cloud had as DLC pretty well: extremely popular and requested albeit with dubious likelihood, commonly associated with the competition, has rivalry history with Mario like Cloud had with Link, etc)

Oh, totally. Maybe I just like futuristic designs in general, but I especially like Elma. The fact that her armor is still just a regular armor set yet still looks so cool speaks volumes about the quality of design in XCX.

Second Round possibilities:

I would looove Twili Midna. She is my highest leveled character in HW even though she came months after launch and I even shelled out to buy her F4F figure. The twili particle effects would look great in smash as well.

Bandana Dee is just so cute. I really love when Sakurai injects personality into characters like Luigi, Piranha Plant, and Incineroar. There's so much potenial for this character.

With Rex disconfirmed all of my Xenoblade related energy is being funneled into Elma. I'll definitely start grinding on X again once I 100% Torna's NG+ to tide me over until Ultimate releases. Here's hoping that Elma and Bandana Dee's absences translate into the fighter pass because they're the last two of my most wanted that have survived up until now.
